  1. I fish SE PA mostly and have very little luck with perch colored plugs down here but I have great luck with them up your way on the St Lawrence. I also fish the Rapala Floating Minnow with a split shot or small twist on rubber weight to get it down to certain depths.
  2. I tried the Bait Fuel yesterday. The results were inconclusive. I hit a place that does hold bass. I tried two baits, a swim bait and a Z-Man TRD. I fished both first without scent, with Bait Fuel and with Pro-Cure. I did not catch any fish. I did have pan fish hitting the TRD both with and without scent. I had one light hit on the swimbait with the Pro-Cure that did not hook up. Bait Fuel recommends marinating the baits before using them. I did not have time to do that but I am in the process of doing that now. Hopefully I'll come up with a way to give the Bait Fuel a fair evaluation. BTW there is no odor and it seems to be water based because there was no greasy residue on my fingers after I applied it. It just dried up. It is definitely not like Smelly Jelly. ☺️
  3. I use corn when I take the grandkids. I can't take the BGs off the rods quick enough. I do like Eric's traps. I have some small traps I will try.
  4. I just ordered it and it should arrive today. Hopefully I'll get to try it today or tomorrow. SmallmouthCrush had one of the guys pushing it on his podcast. If you do a search you can find it and listen to what he had to say. After listening to him I thought it was worth a try.
  5. OK......no more!?
  6. How could you even call Texas a state if Texas doesn't have any smallmouths? ? I just picked up a box of those Dale Hollow hair jigs. I'm gonna see if our Yankee bass like those Rebel hair jigs. ( I bet they do!!)
  7. Smallmouths and hair jigs. ?
  8. Depending on what lures I'm fishing and where I'm fishing I use wire at times. I make my own leaders and usually use a 6 or 8" length of wire. I don't know how many lures the wire has saved but I suspect more than a few.
  9. I would say in general if they want it they will take it and start to run with it. If they are just tapping it they have not committed. Very sharp hooks are your friend if the latter is the case. Sometimes they will hook themselves on a sharp hook.
  10. The other day I was going through my heavy stuff. I have a Musky Jitterbug I have never fished and promised myself I'd fish it this year. I think it will work for bass as well as toothy critters because I catch a lot of bass while fishing big top water lures.
  11. Sorry about the double post.
  12. You need to use some "Duff Beer" scent on that plug to catch fish. ?
  13. T-Billy you made me feel soooo much better. My problem is no where near as bad as your. ?
  14. I have a 1448 john. Mine it too small and unstable for a casting deck. It works great for sheltered waters. I'd look at a 16' if I wanted to make the modifications you mentioned and do the things you want to do.
  15. I have to admit I too surrendered to the bait monkey. I just added up what I have spent in the past few months. I have a problem but its a good problem. ☺️
  16. Me too.....also. Both would be a perfect combination in my opinion IF I only had the money.
  17. Maybe most of us cannot afford to own both.?
  18. I think the power handle only comes on the HG version. I noticed the same specs on my HG and assumed it was due to the gearing but I never looked into it deeper. I did remove the power handle and replaced it with a factory double paddle. I found the power handle to be too big and cumbersome for my fishing.
  19. We shouldn't admit we use them all year long. We're liable to ruin our reputations or get banned from the site. ? Seriously I fish red and orange all year. I find orange to be a great color for pike in some northern waters.
  20. Here is a link: https://www.nbcnews.com/id/wbna43301853
  21. I'll try to find a link to the story.
  22. te island when out of the woods appears a black bear. We didn't have any weapons but the bear didn't seem mean. We assumed he/she smelled our delicious shore lunch of flesh caught walleye, fried potatoes with onions and pork and beans. The bear just laid down and watch us eat. It happened to my friend and his daughter. They were fishing Pennypack Creek in Philly and the daughter was attacked. It made the front page up here.
  23. I agree with Fishingmickey. I have a Curado DC and a number of none DC reels. I had more trouble getting the DC tuned in than any other bait caster. Mine did have some problems and went back to Shimano for repairs. It works fine now but if I had to replace it I would buy another standard Curado because I do not see a big advantage with the DC.
  24. Good point. We should include them in our home owners insurance declaration with our guns and jewelry. ☺️
  25. Thanks T-Billy. I have two shops in the area that sell Suzuki. I will talk to both. Fortunately the one 10HP lake that I hunt just went to 25HP so that opens up my options. Yep! Thats the one price I got a few days ago but it did have electric start and maybe trim. The dealers can't get them so they are trying to get the most from the ones they have in stock.
