  1. I use to hunt the islands on the Delaware by Scudder's Falls. One day while hunting a Y buck swam from Jersey to my island and onto PA. I told my hunting buddy because he was hunting the island the next day. The next day he calls me and tells me the Y buck scared the crap out of him. He then proceeds to tell me he did not believe I saw a deer swim across the river and was not expecting to encounter a deer. He was laying out in his sneak box when the deer was over him and went to sniff his face. He never heard it coming and had no idea it was there until it's face was a few inches from his face.
  2. No doubt but I've been out for 5 short trips this year including today and have not had a hit. The good news is I'm getting to try out all the new stuff the monkey made me buy. The bad news is it ain't working. 😊
  3. Could be he posted that to mislead us. If I had a "true" secret modification of a lure I would never let anyone get a photo.
  4. Congratulations I'm still trying. 👍
  5. I had a friend who went in while fishing a jetty in North Jersey in November. He had cleats but no PFD because no one used them in those days. He was eventually able to get out. I remember him telling me that the rock he was clinging to had his fingerprints embedded in it. Here is a funny clip from YouTube. A reporter in Norway was wearing his PFD while doing a story and it went off.
  6. I like that idea!!
  7. I think hook size should depend on the size of your bait or lure. What do you intend to use for bait?
  8. Another 👍 for the Stunna. I have 4 or 5 and they have been productive. A good value for the money.
  9. There is a name from the past. I have/had a lot of Winco's baits. I'll have to look around to see if I have any left. If I remember correctly most of the baits I bought from him were to target smallmouth.
  10. I would disagree in one aspect. Big baits also catch small fish and small baits catch all fish. When the fishing gets tough I go to the extreme. I throw very big baits or very small baits. Sometimes I never throw an average-sized bait and just use very large or very small baits.
  11. In my 70 plus years of fishing, I always use them BUT I bought a Shimano Vanford last year that did not have one. I like the reel and I am adapting.
  12. I would guess I have 20 to 40 jerk baits. Some here in SE PA and some in NE PA at the mountain house. I have only one Rogue in Clown color. There is not much paint left on the lure from tanglingly with toothy fish but it catches fish. I'm hesitant to throw it lately for fear it might get bit off. I keep it with a few lures that always catch fish. It is one of those individual lures that has characteristics or properties that attract fish.
  13. I have read that bass see red as being the color black below a certain depth. We may be fishing red lures but the bass think they are seeing black forage.
  14. Thanks guys. It is a small pond maybe 2 to 3 acres.
  15. Interesting! About 30 years ago we stocked a pond in NE PA with LM and crappie. Over the years the LM grew and some 5 or 6-lb bass were caught along with many different year classes. We never caught a crappy until about 4 years ago when my wife caught a 14-inch crappie. After that, we started catching crappie most being between 8 and 12 inches. BUT we have not been catching any bigger bass. Three or four pounds have been max for the past few years. Could crappie be the reason? BTW there are some ponds above the pond we fish that did hold crappie and there have been some high water incidents when the dams above had been breached allowing the crappies to enter.
  16. I have a friend who has been fishing forever. This is still his favorite worm.
  17. My first WP was bone. It ended up in a tree the first time I used it. 🤢 The first year or two I fished a WP I caught fish. The last year it has not produced for me. I did use a 75 last year in some ponds I fish and I did catch a few. I guess the fish figured out I was trying to fool them. 😉
  18. I have a Samsung phone. The photo I took and posted just before the one I posted above came out fine.
  19. Or out of a Vietnamese fish farm. 😋
  20. It happened to the last photo I posted.
  21. I have glasses that are all of the above. My next pair will have all the above except for the amount of transition on my current pair. I will use clip-on sunglasses. The ones I am using now do not transition back to clear quickly enough for me.
  22. Interesting idea!! I will give that a try.
  23. I've been in a few times in the winter while duck hunting and fishing, but I remember one incident vividly. It was in early March. I was wearing a military Mae West. I hit the water and I was paralyzed by the cold. Fortunately I was pulled back into the boat a few minutes later. Had I not been wearing the life vest I think I would have just sunk.
  24. I just received an email from BP. Their "Fishing, Marine & Boating Savings Start NOW". Spend your money while you have a chance! 😊
  25. Do they like the smell or the innovative lure designs Geecrack has come out with?
