  1. to market it, post flyers in local shops, fishing and others like delis. keep entry fee low to gain more interest and write down a complete and thorough list of rules to avoid confrontation. sounds like fun and a good learning experience
  2. personally I don't like seeing tires in ponds but it wouldn't bother me if you sunk trees illegally there were some great threads here last winter on man made cover
  3. Tokyo Tony and I would be intested in joining you. we were just talking about trying it this winter for the first time.
  4. Jim Delisle, 36, Ellington, CT Vice Pres of Shenipsit Lake Association Member of Tobacco Valley Bass Anglers Member of CTOutdoors trail I fish about 20 tourneys a year as a non-boater I have an 8' rowboat and a 10' fiberglass boat both with an elec. motor I mostly fish private lakes for fun and I try to fish one day a weekend. Self taught bass fishing as a child and always trying new techniques to become a better angler. I would like to continue my education as a member on Bass Resource and meet others on the site. Maybe trade a trip sometime.
  5. Crystal lake is also stocked with breeder Salmon, 10-20lbs they started it last year when the rivers were too low to release them there and they did it this year too because people were supportive of the program it cool to see a huge salmon jump for no reason It was a tough day of fishing so the acrobatics was entertaining
  6. great play by play sorry you didn't land her
  7. hopefully someday nice fish
  8. sad story sounds like a freak accident he was even wearing a life preserver, just got stuck on a branch can never be too careful thanks for the post
  9. I met Tony this year on this site and all I can say is "man can he fish!" one monster after another he is good at dissecting a lake and locating bass and of course hooking em good job and I thought I knew it all Just remember to keep the fish from jumping
  10. TT, I'll save you the embarrassment TT got skunked I got 3 bass
  11. just testing your line huh. guess it handled ok bigger than anthing I've caught so to me its a 10
  12. Also you can't get better fishing big tourneys when the top 10 anglers don't share their secrets. All you see is bass and you can't get better looking at a bag of bass
  13. As Fishfordollars said "Probably half of the participants in larger bass tournaments have no business being there. They fish memories, and that is a killer. These bottom dwelers as such will never be a player and only when hell freezes over do they ever have a shot at drawing a good check muchless win one of the things." this is what makes tournaments so good you only have to beat half of the participants the other half are already beat they just add money to the pot although its not for the money for me
  14. drop shot 3" senko for me in pumpkin or watermelon or black jigs around cover and ledges visibility increases greatly with cold water because all the algea dies and precipitates.
  15. its made me worse in the short term. now I over analyize everything and throw stuff I wouldn't normally throw because someone else is catching fish on it. and it makes me scramble though my box and think about the next lure and why I shouldn't throw what I'm now throwing. All the above is why I love tournaments. I am a better person because of it in the long run
  16. my friend has one I think its worth your time if you can afford one. there are a few brands between $100 and $200 now. clear water is important. it will save time if you are deep water fishing over a school of fish to make sure you aren't wasting time over the wrong species. also it can show you what the bass see underwater in cover and how the relate or hide in cover. seeing the bottom as a picture makes it much easier to understand your sonar. sometimes I find a big piece of cover in 20' of water and wonder what it is and if the fish are around the edges or inside or if they have fish at all and docks, are they worth your time today? see the answer
  17. nice fish making us northerners proud keep representing now get that smallie record
  18. lucky you, wow good luck fishin
  19. nice job, thats alot of anglers to beat always great to pull your weight from the back of the boat My best finish is fifth as a team out of 45 boats haven't seen any money yet maybe next year
  20. wow look at that pickeral. Must have been some fight. The smallie record seems the most obtainable. good luck
  21. I've also seen an additional treble hook put on the top split ring to increase hookups
  22. pond x rules thanks t.t.
  23. yeah, I have a comment, Thats Sucks This fall has been rough on my confidence so you're not alone. Sept was good in 8-12' deep grass with a crankbait Oct has been cold fronts every weekend-- I think there are shallow bass and deep but deep may be easier to catch on a dropshot or jerkbait (tis the season) try a different pond or bring another person with you that's better to figure them out good luck
