small girl, big smallmouth
My almost 2 year old daughter reeled in a 3lb smallie Labor Day. I held the rod and she reeled. The whole time she was saying "Hi fishy" when it was jumping and Where's fishy when it was diving, then "there she is" Senkos are great for kids too

Long Pond in southeast connecticut
The other side of the culvert is like a completely different fishery. Shallow and lots of pads. Its worth a few casts on the edges or doing some froggin. Its a big lake on both sides so choose your strength. Sounds like you have a good game plan to start.

Long Pond in southeast connecticut
Been there 3 times in the past. Good lake. lots of good spots from a boat. It is worth it to go through the tunnel too, but the main lake has plenty of fish too. I don't have any great spots, but I've got bass from about everywhere. There's docks grasslines and lillypads, laydowns, rock, good points and dropoffs. good chance of getting some fatties. Ave. fishing pressure, some club tourneys but I don't think it gets hammered. any other Q's

Thanks I was hoping it wasn't me. I am catching fish in new areas b/c the bass aren't where they were last summer. Probably due to high water too. Most of the fish have been dinks too
