  1. die hard = die fast I get 3 years max and the last year is pushing it
  2. Normal high for CT is 60 now. In general lately, temps have been below average with nights in the upper 30's. The water temp is around 53. This weekend is gonna be almost 90 and sunny. Do the bass make drastic moves to shallows or do they just become more active where they were before. How much do you think the water temp will increase in a shallow protected cove? Will bass all the sudden build beds or do they need more stability?
  3. this Poll should be limited to those who have smallies in their lake.
  4. Last weekend we got 14 bass in 4-10' water on jerkbaits. The bottom was patchy grass last year. Water temp was 53.
  5. thanks for mentioning that I carried our team. that was a fun day
  6. x-rap, blue steel
  7. I use a bag so I can hold the strap while on plane. Too bad boaters I fish with never have room in their boat storage for me. Sometimes I even have trouble stuffing a sweatshirt in there.
  8. Is a creek arm the same as a channel?
  9. last year was messed up cold weather would roll in and the bass would split over and over only time will tell
  10. just check the shallows for bait then fish it twice a year until you catch a small bass. why not stock a few small ones yourself besides its illegal be a rebel!!

  12. That extra foot that you crank is why people powerload. That crater holds fish too.
  13. Great stuff my daughter has a hat that says "Daddy's little fishing Princess" Kids and fishing go together like bees and honey
  14. We also have American Shad (3-8lbs) that run up the CT river in the spring and some smaller Hickory shad (1-3lbs)that run in the fall. Shad can be a generic term like minnow, shiner or bream. Although they are specific types of forage, not everyone knows that. I guess you would have to be more specific on type of shad. You probably want to know if a shad pattern lure would work around here. The answer is yes whether a lake has them or not. S
  15. My Canadian Grandfather always said if you can see the other side, its a pond.
  16. There are blueback and blackbacks in a lake I fish. They get there from the tackle stores indirectly by fisherman.
  17. How does you or your state differentiate between a pond and a lake as far as acreage is concerned? In CT a lot of our "lakes" are under 150 acres. Some are even 50 acres. There aren't too many named ponds over 15 acres. I suspect it might have to do with the relative size of the state too. Facts and opinions welcome
  18. mouth closed and measure any way thats longest with the tail. thats how our tournaments measure
  19. thats great to see kids that young into fishing I put a weightless fluke on my 2.5 year old daughters rod with a hook because I want her to catch a bass on her own. Its a 3' barbie pole (actually its mine). Maybe The hook is a bad idea now. I still have to cast it but she loves to reel. Man she cries when its time to go--just like her daddy
