  1. I'm not fishing in the same tourny as this guy I don' get this? Would this be some sort of cheating reference? If it is! I would love for one of you to tag along and get a look at what catching 30 to 50 4lb+ bass a day looks like. Have you ever culled 5 pound smallies? I highly doubt it! I am the last person on this planet that would cheat on anything. The reason I asked the question was we have released bass more than 5 miles away from the harbor and assumed they would find their way back but, I wasn't sure if thier homing instinct was great enough. It would be like blinfolding you and dropping you off in the middle of some random forest counties away. Do not think it was meant as anything that drastic, I think what the person was saying, is that if you did do what they said, the fish would still be alive, even way out on the open water. That being said, being a tx. angler myself those comments will cause a raucous response from many people. Because we all know of someone who has done something like this to try and cheat for a victory. LMB are very adaptable and will even find their way home. Those fish you are releasing out on open water, will find structure, and food, so no worries about releasing them. I am truly sorry Marsh Master!!! I thought that was directed at me. I am just the type of guy who would rather try hard and fail miserably than cheat and win!! And Falcon I have met Kim Stricker and seen alot of his footage. He is a real nice guy and has some really incredible film !
  2. It's the same body of water just a totally different environment.
  3. Fantastic!! Congratulations!!!! But check this out. I know you will love your Ranger but I am thinking this boat is gonna be a real steal for somebody!!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&viewitem=&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.com%3A80%2F110282961589_W0QQadgroup_idZ285568515QQcreative_idZ688145055QQfclZ4QQfnuZ1QQfsopZ1QQkeywordZtritonQ20boatsQQoriginZhttpQ3aQ2fQ2fwwwQ2ebassresourceQ2ecomQ2fbassQ5ffishingQ5fforumsQ2fYaBBQ2eplQ3fnumQ3d1217824798QQtestZGadgetQ5fKWQQtypeZQ7bifsearchQ3asearchQ7dQ7bifcontentQ3acontentQ7dQQfviZ1&item=110282961589

  6. I have a question maybe somebody can answer. When I fish Erie we usually start in the bays and get a limit of largemouth to at least have a limit. Then we go out to the big lake to upgrade with smallies. My question is when we release the largemouth into the open water do they find their way back to the bay or stay out in the open wandering around until they find suitable habitat? We have done this many times and never thought anything about it. But now I am wondering if we are sentencing the largies to death. I have caught some very large Largemouth around the islands where you would not expect to catch them. Anybody have any thoughts?
  7. Of course the is!!! Dottties year class has to have a few survivors Eating the same forage and . It is hard for me to believe there are not many, many fish over 23 pounds!! You may never see a one but they are there. They don't get huge by taking every offering. IMHO another 25# will show up within the next 4 years. And It will be worth a few million!!! I truly believe all the above!!!
  8. I have A buddy who works with carbon fiber. Something new might be in the works. But it is just in the infancy stage . Carbon fiber doesn't like to bend and that is what he is trying to work out! Imagine that carbon fiber blend with recoil guides and a superlight reel seat with split grips and a REVO.
  9. I have a tourney there Aug 31. I will let you know results and details sunday night!
  10. I would think the WR would be worth multiple mils. The Beatty buck from Greene county Ohio was the world record non-typical for a few years. I heard he got $5000 per event to show his mount at hunting expos. Not to mention endorsements. The WR largemouth is much more sought after making it an even bigger prize. Meaning bigger money. I have won a couple tourneys and when asked what I was catching em on, I replied I am not being paid so I will just say I caught generic baits even though they were very much name brand. I am not sponsored at this time (I have had a more than a few offers) so I don't have a real responsibility to tell 160 people my winning pattern. When I do get some sponsors I will yap em up!!!!!!
  11. WELCOME!!!!!!!!
  12. Be well spoken, humble and just win. People will notice!!
  13. From what I can hear, read, and see. Dom and Russ are real class acts! Thank you for all the hard work guys!!! Muddy or LBH is there an address I can send unused or unwanted tackle or equipment at the end of the season? If so PM me with it. I have chatted with you guys briefly about an event I would like to put on and both of you were more than gracious. It looks like it's not gonna happen this year but I should be able to put EVERYTHING together over the winter and make it a spring deal. Now that things are rolling smoother on my side I will have a little more time to organize it in the off season. But please if there is Anything I can do to contibute please let me know!!!! Sincerly yours Jay
  14. often both are employed simultaneously, resulting in a banner day. That is the funniest thing I have read all day Paul. Thanks for the laugh!
  15. I said KVD but, I also like the Gerald Swindle.
  16. I usually fish 25 or more a season but, this year I have had to put fishing on the back burner for awhile so only about 15
  17. We went that day to target largemouth! Talk about an underrated green fish fishery!! But as far as plan B's there are numerous inland reservoirs and natural lakes that have good action within an hour from Cleveland. Using Cleveland (Stay in a suburban hotel!!!!) as a central location would give you many options to launch at Erie. There are numerous ramps along the lake. You don't have to run 30 miles unless your in a tourney and feel you need to. Most times you can go as few as two miles and be on big smallies. I problably fish Erie for largemouth almost as much as I do for smallmouth. Come up in late October and you can catch tons of largemouth along with big steelhead in the harbors. We talked to a DNR taking a creel survey and he said more smallies are staying in the harbors through the summer thanks to our closed season. I don't know if thats BS but we have been catching more smallies in that particular harbor.
  18. That sux bad. Like everybody said I am glad to here you were not hurt physically. I broke a BPS Extreme rod a couple weeks ago taking it out of the rod locker and about went nuts. I can't imagine losing so much stuff. Sorry for your loss!
  19. Seems to me here the bass get ultra aggressive. We really put a hurtin on em last Thanksgiving with cranks. Yeah I said Thanksgiving!!!! Ohio late November bass still very active chasing shad. All we did was follow the baitfish around cast to em and the bass were there. Nothing mattered but the baitfish!
  20. Just about every large harbor on Erie hold great largemouth too. We usually catch a little better quality than these but it was very hot and, we didn't remember how much traffic would be there on Sundays. We thought we would save the better spots for last. Wrong move with all the traffic and wind! RW I have finished 5th in a 80 boat field with a limit of largemouth a little over 16 lbs. a couple years ago. Either brown or green Erie has got em. Ya gotta get up here RW
  21. I have never seen it happen. you will still find resident smallies there though! And you should be able to be spankin em now!!!
  22. It doesn't matter the weight if you know its your PB. It's beautiful take a scale next time so you can weigh your next PB!!!! Congrats!!!!!
  23. He has, don't make him show the pics again.. : : When you live as close to Erie as I do and fish for smallies as much as I do, it can get a little boring! I like to cast and, dragging tubes is like catfishing sorta. I can drop shot but, I hate it really bad. About the only dropshotting I will do is in tourneys and other methods aren't working. There are some big smallie pics in the smallie section.
  24. Thats sooo funny! He was having a hard time dealing with other boaters running their 40 footers past us at 100 MPH and the heavy wind. He was having anger managment issues for sure Sunday. On top of that for every bass he caught the was a drum that came next. Now Drum or Sheephead are a great fighter but they get annoying when they put up a 10 minute battle and, you just want to catch bass.
