  1. I like either, but many of my largest bass came mid day. It's probably because I'm grinding out spots by that time of day.
  2. I've done it, though I'm not sure why. I'm not sure it makes a difference, and if it does, I would have no way of knowing. Why would a fish prefer black braid over white, pink, yellow, blue or green?
  3. Not really. Their construction are just different. One thing I never liked was the course thread screw that was the only thing holding the thumb bar on Shimano reels of past. I had a few customer reels that were stripped out or broken. It was an inexpensive replacement.
  4. An internal combustion C8 would be a REALLY good put away car. Last of a breed.
  5. For most, a Mazda 3 or Toyota Camry will get the job done. This bait is like having an SF90. A Corvette would be a smarter choice even. I remember having the same discussion about a Roman Made Mother over a decade ago, and that bait was like half as much. Same exact replies about it. It's good click bait.
  6. I'd upgrade to a SS version of the same prop spec. I'd also see about repairing the Al prop and stowing it as a back up.
  7. Act fast people - there's only four silver trout left! At 16", I can't see this ever being used for typical bass fishing.
  8. My two other past time endeavors are drums and skateboarding. While the latter is pretty inexpensive, drum purchases merit serious discussion and consideration, as do her guitar purchases. Even maintenance items like heads and sticks get a line item in the budget. As long as we talk about it, we figure out how to make it happen. Fishing gear or a new deck is a drop in the bucket when compared to a new Taylor guitar or Black Beauty snare drum. I'd say that anything around $200-$250 triggers a discussion.
  9. That's a slab, Mike. I've only ever caught them at Clark's Hill (private lake) and they hit peanut size cranks. They definitely have a purple tone.
  10. I probably have around 50 reels and and slightly less rods. I set up around 10-12 to fish based on my mood, where I'm fishing, and what I think I might need. I generally only take 5 or 6 in any trip. Think of it like a tool chest and a tool bag. You load the bag with what's most convenient for the day.
  11. I left my last pair on someone else's boat. I can't find them anymore. They're called Hemocuts and you could get them at BPS, but I haven't seen them years.
  12. I ran an 18H Xpress and a Bullet 21XDC concurrently. If I was fishing Erie or another big water, I preferred the Xpress. It handle big rollers and chop over 2' better than the light Bullet. I would not describe the ride as "smooth" but it was safe. There really isn't anything in the bass boat world outside of say a Lund that can really handle true 3 footers. Honestly, being a Great Lakes guy, that's when you look for smaller water to fish.
  13. @gimruis natural? I have no idea what that means, but my 2nd personal best (7-1) came on a wacky jig. Not sure naturalness is more important on the list than bait placement. Also, didn't see where this became a "senko thread."
  14. I'll pinch on some split shot if wind or current is keeping my bait from sinking. Otherwise it's usually no weight. A better plan is to use a wacky jig when weight is necessary.
  15. Like anything else, it can be. Or, you can apply knowledge, wisdom gained through experience to make it a skill.
  16. Putting containers of ingredients in the dry ingredients is disturbing and I'm pretty sure the creators know it.
  17. What a catch and what a lake. I've seen more than a few 8+ at tournaments there. Glad to see the record caught from a public lake. Congrats!
  18. I liked their cover of The Battle of Evermore on the Singles Soundtrack.
  19. It feels like Joni's version of Woodstock is a cover, but she wrote and released it before CSNY. So good. I'd suggest the Shadows and Light version. The band line up is amazing.
  20. My Favorite Things, John Coltrane
  21. This thread is a teenager now. Sounds like you should contact SK customer service.
  22. I learned from my great uncle, tracking salmon in very deep water with a paper graph. The technique translated to using a flasher in deepish water for smallmouth. I use SI and DI, but I prefer to be over deep fish using a split chirp and DI or a bottom zoom. I don't need anything to catch fish shallow, but on lakes I don't know 100% I like to use all the tools to locate what will be a better shallow spot.
  23. You gotta throw in a few scoots for the provenance.
  24. I can't see any negative in any sort of training.
