  1. The navionics web app is a start. There are also a great many mas and books available with maps and local information. A local tackle shop would carry ones from your area.
  2. Rocks aren't typically "cover" but they can used similarly. Boulders come to mind, but generally the immovable bottom is referred to as structure and anything over it is cover. My favorite cover is fallen trees.
  3. Let's see, we have illegal fishing, politics, personal attacks… can we get some religion in here too? Jeez guys. OP, if it's the law, then obey it. It's your job to find out, and if it isn't what you like, you can contact your local reps and vote. When you're old enough to vote. For now we're done here.
  4. Leverage is by far the most misunderstood topic.
  5. J Francho replied to Jmrayrx's topic in Fishing Tackle
    Renaming and realignment.
  6. What about a nut from a Calcutta? I put an E handle on mine, but I use the Calcutta bits to attach it. Just an idea… I picked up a pile Siglon F in pink 6# size for trout. Also took this 60 year old drum and gave it new life.
  7. I pitch with every single rod I own - including light spinning rods. It is just a cast, not a style, and doesnt require a special rod.
  8. It's to prevent snagging trout and salmon.
  9. Different line won't fix your thumb.
  10. What does stiffness have to with pitching? I love my Loomis 804 JWR fir docks. That extra power and shorter length really helps put the screws to a big fish on a short leash.
  11. Have fun, keep an open mind.
  12. The "better" knot is the one you can tie that will hold.
  13. Me niether, and it's not what we're about here at Bass Resource. In fact, there are rules AGAINST this in our Flea Market.
  14. I'm not sure what the console location has to do with how good you are, but as long as the boat has all the required equipment, you should be able to fish in it. The reason so many use bass boats in bass tournaments is simply that they are set up for tournaments with years of user input in the design. Personally, I've always thought a center console bay boat would be an ideal rig for up here. The problem is they're expensive and none are locally available.
  15. Fill it all the way, run WOT for 15 minutes. Fill it back up and see how much you needed. Multiply by 4 for gal/hour. You can do the same test for tournament loads and speeds as well.
  16. For your new rig, learn on something inexpensive like 14# Big Game.
  17. 26 gal. Generally, less than 5 miles one way. Though I may end up 15-20 miles away from the launch. Must of the time it's less. The Pro Max will burn up 30 gal/hour at WOT.
  18. Not at all. I use a much heavier weight than most recommend when deep drop for smallies. In fact, that's pretty much the same rig they used on the party boats fishing saltwater wrecks.
  19. I don't think tolerance is the right term.
  20. Sounds more like user error - and a rare one at that, since it only happened once in years. Maybe I don't know what you guys are talking about.
  21. Okuma makes a nice affordable swimbait rod. You want something appropriate for baits this size.
  22. From the official Ugly Stik website: Took me two seconds to get this info via the googles and the interwebz. No need for any of the attiude tossed around in this thread. Help, be helped, be grateful, or pass it by.
