  1. If you finish your pitch properly, your rod will be at 12:00 and the reel engaged. That should give you plenty of slack to feed the bait by dropping your rod tip as the bait falls. This way, you'll be in better contact with the line to feel a strike on the fall, rather than clumsily setting the hook while peeling line off the reel.
  2. Braid with a fluoro leader or straight fluoro will help. Both work well for light jigs. For shallow, weedy conditions, I prefer braid, and for deeper, open water, I prefer fluoro.

  4. Hopefully David won't mind me using these pictures. If so, I'll yank them.
  5. Keep Calm and Chive On?
  6. The tack hammer and punch gets the spool pin out after I use the .RM. custom made pliers. Just takes a tap.
  7. For those applications, 8-10# copoly or fluoro would work well.
  8. Braid is a must not for jerkbaits. No stretch means not good with treble hooks, and it fouls up too easily on the the pause. 10-12# P-Line CXX works fine for me.
  9. LOL, I had the 50mm on the cam, and switched it out for the 17-40L.
  10. And keep all further communication with her written. Email/text/only. This is VERY important. Fathers do win sometimes...cough-cough.....
  11. Baby food jars work well for parts that need to soak in cleaner or solvent. A muffin pan is the best thing I've found for keeping everything in order.
  12. They were one of the first to put it there. I believe the D series was the end of that practice
  13. I love lunchtime fishing! Nice work!
  14. My PB is 22 lbs. I've had a larger fish on since, but I choked. The state record is over 34 lbs.!
  15. AFAIK is pretty common BTW, JMHO, LULZ.
  16. 15 storm related deaths.
  17. Products and information is constantly evolving. You can use the search to get some background, and if you still have questions, just post up! Now let's get back to the original question!
  18. Everyone is fine today, AFAIK. The leaves were devastating! But seriously, it wasn't nearly as bad as the media made it out to be. Local news is still spewing doom and gloom. Some places are without power. I guess it's pretty ugly over in NJ - anyone have any reports from there?
  19. It's pretty ugly up here on the lake. I have power, but swung by grandmas. No juice there, but house looks ok. Substations are are exploding all over the place. Couldn't get through Lake Rd to to check on my uncles place. Too many trees downed. I may have under estimated this one.
  20. The lakeshore is a mess. Couldn't get through with my pickup. Saw quite a few transformers explode from downed limbs. My place is fine, though. But what a mess so far.
  21. Get a car and drive a couple hours and ill get you on some trout. Pm me.
  22. For deep water, 6# Invisx: Shallow with weeds, 15# Power Pro w/ 8# Seguar Fluoro Leader: I'll give a little nod to 6# Silver Thread for this one:
