  1. As long as it isn't frozen, there should be trout in OO below the dam.
  2. Thanks! When you're fishing spoons, changing profile has more effect on retrieve speed and running depth. I personally think they wanted a slower presentation, so downsizing or switching to a wider spoon gets you there with a slower retrieve at the same depth.
  3. You mean SS1300? Nice reel in it's day. A little dated by today's reels. Still a solid performer.
  4. Paul (Blue Daksi) and I got out for a short trip last evening and the fish were on fire. Pods of spawning browns, leaping steelhead all over the place. Only problem....couldn't get bit. Finally, at Paul's suggestion, we downsized our bait. With good success....
  5. There's lots of good shore spots. Irondequoit Bay outlet, Russel Station (Slater Creek), Webster Park, Long Pond, Braddocks, Summerville Pier... Here's the DEC page for Region 8 fishing hotline: http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/39271.html
  6. I'm not sure I can get my head around a bass seeing something that I can see when placed under a UV light. Making something glow under UV isn't exactly the same as seeing the UV coating. I do know this type of stuff is all the rage in the trout and salmon world.
  7. If it's for moving baits, the Curado may offer more refinement, but for contact baits the Citica is a good value.
  8. Nice footage. It would fit in nice with a montage of strike footage. Keep filming!
  9. Had two F2 bengals and a "Bengalese." Awful creatures. Cool to look at, though.
  10. Joined a rock band to impress girls.
  11. Repowering that boat will not be cheap. The hull does look pretty clean. Personally, I'd get something turnkey.
  12. Clever! Same principle as a Parasite Clip.
  13. Two pros stayed at my buddy's place when they were up on Oneida. What they said was that only a select few have a "free ride," with their travel expenses and entry fees paid for by sponsors. Something like the top 20 guys. The rest rely on themselves to come up with these expenses. Some guys risk it all. It isn't cheap, and most don't have a free ride. To run two circuits would simply be too costly.
  14. No, but I do use the Owner offset hooks in weeds sometimes, unless your talking about bubba shotting - then just use whatever EWG you'd normally use. I bet a Gamakatsu Wide Gap Finesse hook in 1/0 would work best for nose hooking. Here's the Owner hook. It's light wire, so no monster hook set necessary.
  15. The green Curado B had a plastic drag star. I've serviced a lot of them, and never saw a broken drag star. I have seen stamped steel drag stars break, though. And cast aluminum as well.
  16. That's what it does, and it can make a huge mess on the spindle, and disable the boat as well.
  17. This time of year I just go bigger when I can't get a big bass bite. Those browns and steelies are fun on bass gear.
  18. A REALLY bad joke. Same problems here, especially in fall and spring when everything seems to intersect the same habitat.
  19. Great Danes are such sweet animals.
  20. I bet there are big bass there, if you can dial in on them. Sounds like anything smaller would get eaten.
  21. I am haunted by a huge drum that I thought for sure had bars and red eyes, LOL.
  22. And nobody ever whined about the plastic drag star on those reels.
  23. My partner targeted anything that'll bite. I swung for the fences.
