Ok, I'm looking for a BIG reel to use in the salt. I'll be fishing inshore but for offshore sized fish. (Bull reds, Sharks, Dolphin, etc.) I was wondering if anybody has had experience with some. I don't want to spend anymore than $150. I'm not too pick about brands but I know Penn Abu Diawa & Shimano are all top for theese kind of reels. I'd like it to hold at least 350 yards of 30# line. mY dad has a nice Ambasaduer Big Game, but I don't really want to spend that much. Just wondering if anybody here has any suggestions. Thank's!! Kevin has a quick retrieve with many baits, but can't say that he is reeling any bait as fast as he can unless he missed a strike and needs to get his bait back in strike zone, and he is most always using a start and stop or light rip during retrieve to add erratic action to his baits. Big O

i doubt he will take that bet considering the bottom half of your division includes the likes of pittsburgh, cincinnatie, and milwaukie. not exactly a stacked division once you get past st louis and chicago Yup. Figured it couldn't hurt to ask. ;D ;D The Astros should go far this year. We lead the Majors ( I think, but at least the NL) in Steals. Berkman is the hottest player in baseball, our bench is AMAZING and our lineup is KILLER!! OUr only weakness is our pitching, btu they've been doing better than most people expected. Ike 8-)

The Shimano Curado is always a good bet! Although the Ardents are looking kinda nice. I know a ton of people who have the Cuardo (green model & the new one) and they LOVE it. But for $200.00 you can't go wrong! Ike 8-)

never seen him fish any bait actually, do explain Cliff He likes to throw it out and reel it back as fast as he can uses a faster retrive. He calls it "Power Fishing", trying to cover as much water as possible. He uses a 7.1:1 "burner" reel. I talked to a guide on Toledo Bend and Sam Rayburn and he says that he tears up the bass with that. I've got a few like that too. it can be pretty productive. He said he got the idea from watching a pro (I can't remeber witch one) in the Elite 50 series. He tapped it and watched it over and over and found out pretty much what the guy was using. Ike 8-)

My Academy has just about all the stuff I need. If they don't have something I need (which is rare.) I just swing by Fishing Tackle Unlimited or Bass Pro. At my Academy most of the guys there know what they're doing. But there's this one guy who is an ABSOLUTE JERK!! He sounds kinda like the guy that MuskyXL is describing. Ike 8-)

I think it's about time for me to invest in a decent spinning reel. My $30 shimano of 5 years died the other day, so I think I'll upgrade. My Birthday's coming up so I'll just use that $$$$ to buy one. (No I'm not breaking my promise of no more tackle. this is just like getting a gift. :)) I already have a rod so all I need is a reel. Just got back this morning.................We fished near the San Luis Pass. Not much action, it's been pretty windy the past week. My favorite spot to fish is a place called Sea Isle. It's about 20+ minuites from Galveston. You can wade out pretty far and catch nice limits of Specks & Reds. They have a bunch of Flounder up in there too. I just started fishing it this year. Ny dad has been fishing it for a few years. If you're spending the night down there ya might want to try night fishing under the lights. They have a pier there, but it's always locked. Although if you show up at about 10-11 at night there's always somebody down there to let you in. The GPS coordnites are: ( I can't belive I'm doing this!! :o) 29* 0.8932N 095* 02.667W Good lures for down there are: Gold Spoons. Rapla SkitterWalk. TTF Texas Trout Killers. (Texas Avacoado, Plumtreuse, Firetiger, MardiGras, and Pumkinseed/Chart./White.) TTF Texas Reds Killers. (Same as Trout Killers) Norton Sand Eels. (same colors.) (Mardi Gras is my fav.) White Curltail Grubs (dragged along the bottom for flounder.) Spinnerbaits (along weed lines.) Rat L Traps produce too. (Anything with "chrome") If ya tell me what date(s) ya'll are gonna be down there I might be able to meet ya down there and show ya around. Good Luck! Ike 8-)

I'm going to try a Lucky Craft topwater, I was wondering what ones ya'll have had sucess with. Ike 8-)

So, what should I get? I'm going to get a LC topwater, some Yo-Zuri Hybrid, a Strike Pro Flex Phantom, and some Suffix braid. so that's like $50.00 I have $50.00 left what to get??? I need all suggestions. Thank's ya'll Ike 8-)

One of my friends was visting his sister in Michigan, and he said he tore up the wallaye and pike with it, he even caught a few SM bass. I bought one a while back and it's burried somehwere ina ll my stuff ;D ;D I just never got around to trying it. Let us know how it goes! Ike 8-)

Quick update.............. Caught 1 shark. We checked out the chess board in downtown. It's pretty cool! Then we went to Fudruckers across the street and I ate a 1 pound hamburger!! I'll post pics on Monday. Sorry this is short but I got 2 go. full report on monday............. Ike 8-)

I'll be heading down there on vaction for a week tomorrow. I'll be fishing all day everyday for Speckeld Trout, Redfish, and Flounder! Maybe even some Black Drum and Shark. We're renting a beach house down there for a week, so it'll be nice to take a break from school and work. I'll try and update while I'm down there. Ike 8-)
