shimmy on the subject of measurements & blanks. I got a replica of my pike from LAX taxidermy. He was one of the original replica taxidermists in the country for pike & muskies. He charged the same amount for skin mounts as replicas trying to advocate for the replica. They have amassed a tremendous inventory of blanks to cover almost all lengths & girths possible. He matched my fishes length & girth exactly. So if you shop around you can find a shop that has your exact measurements for the replica trophy. The first two shops I called did not have what I caught and I would have had to settle for a replica that was not an exact copy. Like Tom mentioned above you can get what you want if you are working with the right taxidermist.

My long time fishing buddy Dave & I made our annual trip to lake athabaska in northern saskatchewan last week. When we got there the water was high about 4 feet higher than normal pool. The water continued to rise each day that we were there. The rising water made our pike trip extremely tough. The pike were not only spread out but had found new habitate in the trees & bushes that used to be part of the shoreland. We found some good fish but not like the numbers & quality we were used to. Like my buddy said you can't make chicken salad out of chicken shitu. So we decided to spend most of our time chasing lake trout instead of pike. That was a tough go as well but the fish turned on the last three days which saved our trip. We had never fished with Bryan before and he turned out to be a great guide. He is a diehard cleveland indian fan as you can tell from the cap.

Call croix back and ask to speak with customer service. Give them the model & serial number of your rod & tell them what guide you need. Offer to purchase it so you can have a local builder replace the old one. Then decide if you want to tackle it or have a pro do it. There is a good chance they will just send it to n/c.

Very sad. It probably could have been many of us. Same thing happen to another angler fishing a tournament exactly one year ago on lake okeechobee.

The op mention in one of his first posts that he is legally blind. He is looking for colored line & rods to help him with visibility. I'm sure he has the feel aspect down pat just wants to help with the visibilty aspect.
