Boga Grip
I use to have two, now only one. Put a float on it if you buy one. They are the most accurate of the spring scales & are readily certified by IGFA for record purposes.

Superbowl Saturday
Went out today about 4pm. Planned on fishing until dark. Since I have been in Florida for the winter I have been bank fishing public ponds & one private golf course. I can only fish the private area when a new found buddy takes me in as his guest usually once a week . All the other time is spent fishing the local subdivision pond & other public access areas. I found a public area which seem promising. My biggest in the local pond has been 2.5 lbs. lots of action but no size. My biggest in my favorite newly found pond was 4lbs earlier this week. Today on the last cast before leaving I caught this girl. Got a guy walking by to take the picture. I'm having a lot of fun learning new water & the nuances of fishing ponds & canal/pond waterways.

trolling buck perry style
Try rapala taildancers. They are available in dives to 10 ft, 15', 20' & 30'. Use 10lb line diameter. Braid works really well for this with mono or floro leaders. Track your diving depth by either hitting bottom in sand or mud to prevent snagging. You can also watch rod tips which will signal hitting bottom. Hitting bottom occasionally is good. You need to chose a consistent trolling speed for determining your depths achieved with different plugs. Once you have all that dialed in you can experiment with different line diameters, thinner dia will get deeper quicker, & speed will affect depth as well. Faster will increase depth up to the point of too fast. Most effective trolling speeds are .8 to 2.4 mph depending on water temps & type of bait trolled. There are other bait or lures type available with diving lips to change it up. You can also add snap on weights 10-50 feet in front of the lure to get shallow plugs down to the depth your trying to seek. Snap weights usually add 5-10 feet depth per ounce depending on speed and other variables. Trolling is a great way to cover water & probe depths most fisherman don't want to learn or practice with other methods like jigs or jigging spoons.
