I Don't Think A Plug Knocker Would Work If This Thing Got Snagged...
You should see the one I made. It shoves a grenade down their throat and then unclips the hook, the fish swimming away then pulls the pin. When that fish gets back to the school theyve all been bamboozled. KAPOOW, then you just drive around and collect your winning limit. Yeah, youll have penalties for dead fish but no one else will even have a fish when theyre all dead.

Gulp! Reviews?
I was fishing a gulp bait that looked like a jerkbait and I fished it as such. When I first started fishing it, the color was marketed as saltwater gulp. It was chart/white with some black flake. The package has changed and I am not sure if the forumlation changed with it but that color in the same bait of regular gulp doesnt catch them like the saltwater version did. Three years ago that saltwater version came out every time I struggled and it produced a ton of fish.

How To Go From Average To Pro
Free fishing trips/Free rods/Giving seminars to other anglers/Guiding Theres no big money really in fly fishing on the actual fishing side. No competitive organization for big money. That was the top for me, which is why I said in my opinion. When you start having rods recommended based on who you are as a fisherman then you did something amazing. I knew I would never be the next Joe Humphreys.... although we share the same water

Big Swimbaits
Ive got a local lake where the shad sometimes will make the bass look small. I was fishing a cove last spring and I kid you not there had to be 10,000-100,000 shad in that cove. I didnt see a bass bust that ball once and I couldnt get a bite either. I tried every bait I had, they were so thick they were busting away from a jerkbait.

Fishing And Relationships
Youll learn with time when you need to lay off. Im pretty much free to do as I want as long as nothing is pending thats important. I dont do things like go fishing on her birthday and I dont waste time drinking with friends. So I spend a lot of time outside. This younger generation(under 30 and even some 30's) has some serious trust issues. I had a buddy who had to get a divorce because every time he went hunting or fishing he was "cheating on her", she was the one cheating on him.

How To Go From Average To Pro
The biggest aspect is the money. Second biggest aspect is Want and Third is Time. I made it to the top as far as I was concerned with a fly rod. I still get questions from guys I taught to fish, one just asked me about a fly pattern today after I told him his last wouldnt work on a certain creek. Its those minor details that can make or break a day. Without the money to have the right gear, you dont stand a chance. Sure we all know a guy who has a row boat who can catch fish but hes not the norm. If you wanna run with the big dogs you better have the gear to do it. If I can cover half the lake in a day and you can cover it three times over you will spend more time fishing then me and have a wider range of structure/conditions to work with. Theres also something to be said for always thinking the grass is greener though. Most of us fish way too fast, by that I mean rather than knowing that stump has six or eight bass on it, we catch one and think we need to go to the next stump or we think that one little stick is no way holding a fish. Time without a doubt is what it takes to be consistent. On the stream I grew up on, which is a C&R trout stream that sees pressure from excellent anglers 365 days a year, if I couldnt put 60 fish in the net fishing all day I had a bad day. Some guys were happy to catch one an hour. I remember friends commenting how I just slayed them one night three of us were fishing a pool and I really didnt think much of it. I actually thought that we didnt do that well. We probably caught 20 in that hole, but I knew that hole itself had 60 so we shouldve caught way more in my mind. That came from spending so much time on the water. It wasnt a matter of if I was going to catch fish, I was going to catch them and in places guys never even thought to look. I knew that creek bottom to the point I could navigate and fish it in pitch black darkness with no light. I had to force myself to stop one summer because I had tennis elbow. When I lost the time to fish that often the catch rates declined drastically. I can still go to my best holes on that creek and catch fish, but the sixth sense I almost had of knowing to set the hook when there was no indication to set the hook is gone. I can still nymph without indicators but no way would I expect a 60 fish day anytime in the near future.

Hey, at least you make a valid arguement other than just "philly paid the money so they dont want the boats there". Your explination makes sense, I was throwing out a possiblity.

Are You In A Bass Club?
They were in the habit of not collecting it till the weigh in so they didnt have to worry about giving it back. Bass was a big fish too, biggest one I caught all year. I never fished another event with them after it. I built them a brand new website and other members had the audacity to ask what I was doing for the club. Well lets see, I dedicated about 80hrs before the season ever started. Sorry with a 2 year old I cant be here to collect aps every week. It almost became a running joke... "why didnt you come to this event so we could have your money?" I didnt care about the money, I was in it to learn. The guys in the club were some of the most tight lipped individuals you could ever want to be around. They wouldnt tell you NOTHING they did to help them get on fish. Ill fish opens before I ever get in a club like that again.

Yeah you must be right because no one has ever had an issue with culling in the wrong states waters of a tournament. Its not my fault you dont understand the states regulations. If you dont think you cant get from the flats into PA water on the susquehanna then theres nothing I can do to help you realize thats entirely possible. Furthermore, if youre weighing in via Philladelphia you are in PA, you are playing by PA rules. In order to even get to the flats from Deleware via Philly you would need to cross pa state lines, into deleware, into maryland and back again. PA isnt going to say, well go ahead and run to the susqehanna and pile em up because youre elites, youre a special breed. In fact it would be exactly the opposite, those guys would put an immense amount of pressure on an already struggling fishery. Do you think that if you went to lake erie and killed all the steelheads that somehow mirraculously that next spring the tribs would run full of steelhead again without stocking? From the mouth of the susquehanna to the pa state line is less than 13 miles by land. Not exactly a long run unless youre row row rowing. Whether or not you feel I "have a clue on tournament fishing" has nothing to do with this subject. However you have neglected to add why you think its not valid. So wheres your valid argument here mr tournament director?

I realize that you lack the ability to comprehend what you are reading. Try reading this again without looking to always be right. Correct you are about no restrictions in the flats HOWEVER... if anyone encroached on the susquehanna river and decided to run up it you would be in violation of a PA law. Which if youre gonna make the run to the flats, youd be and crazy to not just keep pushing it and run the susquehanna, it can handle a big boat if you know how to run it right and where to set down.

NOTE: For bass regulations, power dam pools and recreational dam pools on the Susquehanna River and navigational dam pools on the Ohio River drainage are "rivers." It is unlawful to conduct a fishing tournament on the North Branch, West Branch or main stem of the Susquehanna River that allows tournament anglers to harvest bass. If they are having the weigh in in Philly, theres gotta be some say by the fish commission. You would also be fishing three seperate states in one day and need to abide by all those states regulations. Lets not even touch on the subject of transfering live fish across state lines or aquatic invasives that could travel via a livewell or hull.

Bass Fishing Tournament Software
This software doesnt exist? Heck that would be pretty simple with javascript/php/mysql

Delaware River Elite Series Your Opinion.
Im guessing the flats are off limits due to the restrictions on tournament fishing with the low low low reproductive rates they are having.

brandon palaniuk ran 200 miles in one day on the st lawrence into lake ontario, 100 miles each way and had a guy waiting at the pump because he needed gas to do it. running an insane distance if you can get there is not out of the question at all.

Helmets
Exact reason I didnt sell my helmets when I sold the bike. I wonder if its a weight thing, I dont think they would take on water but I have never dove in with one. Getting back to the top could be a disaster waiting to happen???

Keep Your Feet Warm.
I wear the muck arctic pro that I wear hunting, its rated to -60. If thats not enough ill add icebreaker boot blankets or hotmocs. When you have any movement at all in that boot, it will be warm, no doubt about it.

Are You In A Bass Club?
That wouldnt fly with me either. I dropped out of my club this year too, just didnt agree with how they run the show. If youre going to let guys in your club with little boats, theyll NEVER beat a 250 to the top of the lake, never. Final straw for me was having a big bass in the box on a one fish night and everyone else couldnt catch a fish that night so they decided not to weigh. It was the third fish I had in the box, culling twice. Every time we were supposed to fish a lake where I would have any advantage it was canceled and moved to a lake where the big boats had the advantage. I pulled the plug, it was only $10 a day but why just hand over money every week and not stand a chance, thats borderline insane.

Show Off Your Jon Boat!
This was my first boat. I estimated about 60 hours into the decking, which was regular 1/2" ply with lots of support and sealed multiple times. That included the hatches and carpet. I didnt go through the hassle of flushing the lids. I also had 40 hours into the transom on this boat. I had to drill out every rivet by hand and replace the transom then use stainless bolts, sealed to hold it in. It didnt take on a drop of water, pretty impressive for a 1979! I bought the boat on the trailer with everything thats in it for $600 on a 2 degree winter day. Never even fished it before I decked it. Sold it for $2000 but I know I had more than that into it, especially with time. It had a one of those cheap briggs air cooled 5hp motors. It was anything but fast. But man it sure got some excellent comments from other anglers. They loved it, it was only 14' and honestly I never saw another boat that small decked here ever.

Livewell Cooling System
Get yourself a couple large gatorade bottles. Fill them 3/4 of the way full with water and freeze solid. Throw those in the livewell, add some livewell treatment and keep the pumps on a timed recirculation. This way you dont introduce anything into the water. The other option is to fill the gatorade bottles with well or spring water, add the treatment to the bottle and freeze. Uncap the bottle and into the livewell it will slow release the treatment and cool the water. It wont last as long though.

Scent Question
Ill tell it to you like this, you will NEVER beat a whitetails nose. Let me say it again... you will NEVER beat a whitetails nose. If you think theyre down wind there is something out there doing things that you cant see, air currents flow like water in a creek. Except this creek also has the ability to flow up. The scent control industry is the biggest farce to ever come around. Get yourself a milkweed pod and stand at the edge of a clearcut on a cold winter day when the sun is beating down. Release the milkweed seed and watch, it will go strait up at some point, regardless of temp or direction of wind, what you are seeing is thermals. Do the same from a treestand, try it with a smoke bomb in the off season. Now, think about the fact that a whitetail has the ability to distinguish like 8 seperate scents at once. You smell a pepperoni pizza.... he smells the sauce, the cheese, the dough, the seasoning, the pepperoni. Putting perfume on a pig is never gonna help in other words. Your body loses 10's of thousands of skin cells all day every day, you cant ever stop it. Save your money, buy better gear. Better gear doesnt mean junk clothing you find pimped by tv pros either. Hiking gear is the best of the best and in draub colors its just as good as overrated camo. You want a garment designed by a guy whos outside 30 days a year or one by a guy who lived in the woods day and night for a year or more? I could go on all day brother, but if you want me to open your eyes a little more to the foolery send me a pm. Ive got quite a few GREAT sources to turn you on to that will really open your eyes in the hunting world.

80K-100K To Be In The Pro's?
A four year engineering degree is around $100,000 now a days. That breaks down to about a $1000 a month loan payment... chew on that a couple mins. Now imagine you go for broke here and somehow could get a loan that size. Youve quit your job for a year at least and now have $1000 a month payment for 20 years.
