  1. I cant believe how low the weight rating for lures on that rod is... 3/4oz on a heavy?
  2. If youre really worried about review use a screen capture program like quicktime while doing the course or set up your video cam.
  3. Heres what this entire underwater point would look like from the sides, not exact but close
  4. Went on the 4th, once again super disapointed with the amount of products at the show. Its more about booking a trip than anything. Sat in a new lowe boat, good thing I am broke at the moment. Bought a couple things related to archery season, left the show and went to bass pro lol.
  5. I live less than a mile from a C&R trout stream that has average fish of 14" and quite many more bigger. If I NEED to fish I will go fish it till the bass lakes thaw, or if the erie tribs arent frozen Ill go fish for steelhead.

Anyone here have access to one? Man that could open up a world of opportunity. Swimbaits, Cranks....
  7. down deep husky jerks are a little more resonable. The jerks from Luck E Strike RC stick or the classics look just like megabass vision 110s. The RC's are on sale at cabelas for $6 online only
  8. It looks like this might be the layer you need to get lake depth http://nhd.usgs.gov/ Heres the USGS plugin https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!msg/gec-dynamic-data-layers/UxapqRfx138/uvn4A74Y1xAJ
  9. Theres a plugin that you can get for google earth that will show depths in certain areas, I cant recall its name. The other good ones are USGS surface water plugins which will show you flow data for the stream/river gages and lake depths that have them. Using this data you can find out if youre dealing with high or low water, rising water, falling water and the water temp without leaving the house. A topographic map plugin can show you contours of man made lakes and creek channels. You can use google to also find things like blow downs, backwater areas...
  10. Ive never tried it but I have read ground up nightcrawlers are the best scent you can add to an artificial.
  11. Try your creeks at dusk/just after dark. I can catch fish behind the house when the water is ankle deep at dusk, during the day they wont touch anything thats not live.
  12. Two things here 1: let your backstraps whole until you are ready to cook, or at least in decent size sections of what youll make for an entire meal. cut them after cooking and it will help it cook more even. it also cuts down on freezer burn as you are giving it less area to expose. 2: vension steaks should never exceed medium, due to zero fat content it will turn into leather. i cook the tenderloin in about an 8" section, watch it with a meat thermometer and pull it when its just into medium rare. wrap it in foil and wait five more mins before cutting.
  13. Wow I had a brain lapse there, youre using LADDER stands. You can still use chain, you will need a chain binder. http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/category_towing+load-binders or a HEAVY working load turnbuckle (note that the weight limit on those $2 ones at the hardware store have a working load rating of about 90lbs) http://www.e-rigging.com/three-quarter-inch-X-6-inch-Eye-Eye-Turnbuckle?gclid=CNKc9PvksLwCFStnOgodgjYAOA The other way you could use chain on a ladder is to take and put a section on each side of the ladder and then lag bolt the chain to the tree(if your own land or permission). Unlike a hangon the ladder is supporting your weight, not the strap. My worries with a stand staying out year round is animals can chew straps, they rot or fail and you never know it.
  14. It doesnt need to be tight like a ratchet strap. You put the chain as tight as you can get it, set the stand a little higher than wanted with as much slack out as you can get. Then the stand will slide down the tree a little. Once it does that lift the front of the platform up so the stand is collapsed against the tree and push down again, then fold the platform back out. Now, climb in with your harness hooked up, put your knee on the seat and lift the front of the platform with your toe again. Platform/Stand will slide down the tree maybe an inch or so, push the platform back out with your foot and what you have done is cam locked it. Its not moving now. Watch how Dan Infalt does it with a lone wolf. Its the exact same thing except you are using chain. The tree gets skinnier as it goes up, so when the stand slides its pushing out on the chain, theres no need for ratchet straps. You can skip the first video if you want, but dan is a master hunter. The second video shows setting the stand. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJEyFDBV7X4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gBOa-681Hk If thats not making sense let me know. Hangons coming with ratchet straps is a new thing, they used to only come in chain or rope. Not a single stand I own uses a ratchet strap.
  15. Youre basically selling the motors and giving the boat away free. I have a suggestion... Take the motors off, sell them, send the boat out with someone free of charge minus the trailer. Deck the trailer and use it to haul other stuff.
  16. All mine would be white/chartreuse, plain white, or white with black/white bars at the top 9 out 10 times its gonna be a willow main in nickle with a gold colorado, blades can change based on water
  17. If youre gonna let them up, change them to chain
  18. Its deep in that area, they run big boats on it mid summer. It will fish more like a lake
  19. Well, you must factor in the people who virtually dont work yet somehow walk away with about $8000 they never paid into that. The average working person should never have a refund, but I personally would rather overpay then under.
  20. Watch this right here, im gonna take this 4 ounce "sinker" and see what it can do. Look at that, I burned up the stock bearings in this here space reel. It can only do what I said it will do, nothing else out there can do this with a 6 ounce sinker let alone a 4!
  21. Im planning to buy a full blown swimbait rod. Ive got intrest in throwing the bigger baits but know better than attempt it on my current rods. I can throw smaller ones, but I figure Ill kill two birds and make a swimbait/rig setup.
  22. LOL... aint that the truth I appreciate the sarcasm but thats a little different
