Oxygen pumps have proven to do nothing for the bass. Dont waste your money there, the only way its beneficial is medical grade oxygen injection. I have one on my boat, bubbler but I didnt buy it, previous owner did. Yeah, the bigger the better id make one out of the coleman xtreme series, proven to hold ice almost as well as a yeti. That means keeping them cooler.

I have 7 rods on deck for one reason only. Time, yes I fish tournaments. Think about it in that situation, lets say it takes you 2 mins to switch a bait, soon you find that bait didnt work either and the cycle continues. I pull up to down timber. I go strait to the heart of the tree with a soft plastic. I either hookup or I dont, then I start to work my way out with a different bait and mabye before I am done I chuck a buzzbait into it. I can do that as fast as I put the rod down and pick up the next. When you are fishing with friends, learning a technique or heck just fishing to relax(that happens too) then you have all the time in the world to ponder a next move. This becomes very apparent when you fish a tournament on a weekday after work. You might only have 3 hours to get it done. Thats including running the boat, managing fish.... If youre fishing for fun its not worth it to stress over it. Ive spent every day since December on one thing or another related to this season, jigs, rign boats, studying maps on google earth, changing boat hubs... I am your every day guy, I work a full time job, I have a 20 month old son that I dont neglect for hobbies. It took me all winter to get done what I needed too. My point here is the world hopefully wont end tomorrow, you have time.

You are going to need at minimum an 8/0 for this bait. I managed to get mine rigged on a 6/0 wide gap screw lock with a #2 trebble stuck in its guts but an 8/0 or 10/0 would be more fitting.

Rome wasnt built in a day. Find one thing you are intersted in, start with it. Move on after you feel comfortable. In my mind you have it backwards though. Finesse and plastics will put you on the fish much faster than your current choices. Spinnerbaits have a time and place, shallow cranks... well, let me know how that works for you mid day in July. Dont let it overwhelm you, learn the soft stuff first. Its cheaper and more productive. You dont need all the baits we have. We didnt run out and drop $20,000 on baits and rods. We built it up over YEARS, DECADES of fishing.

While I was boatless I spent an ungodley amount of time studying the whitetail, my other passion, where they bed, how they travel, what they eat, how they breed... Funny looking back how it all connects. If it interests you, its worth while. I cant see how soil composition is going to have much of an effect on your fishing. One thing to note is that there is a corrilation between soil, rivers and big bucks. There might be something similar with fish but it doesnt quite add up based on what I know. If you look at where the good soil was deposited via the glacial ice if the pattern held true in fish we would the biggest bass in the midwest along the major rivers instead of in the swamps of florida and in the lakes of Cali. One thing soil will never change is genetics so you could only have half the puzzle, high quality forage be it grasses and soil or better shad but not have the ability to grow large fish.

I did commercial roofing in my 20s, nasty nasty job. Pays good but its WORK. Did one in a tornado once, boss said tear the whole roof off, we argued against it. I know a lot of single parents think you cant do it but you can, theres more funding for single parents than there is kids coming out of high school with 4.0 gpa's.
