  1. I build all my rods with split grips and I love them and they look sick. The only time I'm not a big fan of split grips is on crankbait rods. I prefer a fuller feel in the handle for crankbait rods, especially if I'm going to be using them all day.
  2. I was night fishing on a small lake in the poconos and hooked a beaver on a buzzbait. It wasn't happy.
  3. 20ft would be way too close for me, I would probably have been irritated even if it was 50ft. Like RW said, 20 ft is too close, period. The only possible exception would be on the opening day of trout season on an exceptionally crowded body of water. I wasn't there so I'm not going to judge too harshly but unless you were fishing a puddle 20ft was probably way inside that guys bubble.
  4. I can only speak for last years tour editions and energies but in my experience with them I don't think the extra $100 is justifiable however, that didn't stop me from buying a few tour editions anyway. There is a definite increase in performance with the tour edition over the energy, even if its not $100 worth of an increase. The real question to ask yourself is whether or not the extra performance is worth the increased cost to you.
  5. For that price, its definitely worth it. I picked up an energy early this past summer months for $69.99 and I loved it, unfortunately I had it stolen at the ramp along with another $800 worth of gear a few months ago >. I also bought a tour edition for $115 (free shipping) off of ebay a few weeks ago. If you're interested in spending a few extra bucks they're great reels for that price.
  6. Steve IA, This is the reason, I had the same problems! Iwent to the Sufix and Power Pro and NEVER had any problems. I do like the Sufix bit better than Power Pro. I believe the original question was concerning the Fireline braid that has only recently been released. It isn't the original fused braid but is an eight carrier braid that has a radial cross section and isn't fused. If I read between the lines of your post, you haven't fished it yet. Reading "between the lines" of your posts, it occurred to me that you might want to try waking up on the opposite side of the bed tomorrow IMHO.
  7. oops, I probably should have tried a search first. Thanks for the link.
  8. I know there have been several threads in the past month or two about LC pointers regarding their price and performance. I was looking at the Jannsnetcraft website and I saw that they have painted jerkbait bodies, which the call "springers", in sizes 78 and 100 (like pointers) for $3.55. They appear to have the exact same body dimensions as pointers and they come in the same or very similar paint schemes such as ghost minnow, american shad, and ghost shad (similar to chart. shad). The only catch is that they come without hooks, but even then they're still significantly cheaper than lc pointers. I'm considering ordering a few just to check 'em out but I don't plan on switching from my trusty pointers any time soon . I'm sure they're not at the same quality level as pointers but you never know. I thought I would let you guys know in case anyone was looking for a cheaper alternative to pointers with similar paint schemes. Has anyone fished with them already by any chance? Here's the link: http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/crankbait-bodies/341521.aspx
  9. Check your field guide. Cottonmouths dont occur in PA. You pay too much attention to wives tales. hJerk24 is right, he said copperheads not cottonmouths. However, an "I told you so remark" would be appropriate regarding the water moccasins which, as previously stated ,don't occur in PA.
  10. I'm pretty close between the two but I can flip and pitch much better with a baitcaster than my spinning rigs.
  11. Trust me, get another mojo. On sale, the extremes aren't a bad value but they're about as sensitive as a broomstick. For moving baits they're not terrible but if you're using it for drop shotting, you'll be much happier with the St. Croix.
  12. The key is to fish slow. I use primarily big jerkbaits and jigs (I switch to hair jigs when it gets really cold). Although lately everything has been frozen so I haven't been throwing much of anything.
  13. Yeah your right, hopefully the other tracks will be better. If another band put out this album I would think its was awesome but the fact that its L.O.G., whom I expect a lot from, kind of disappoints me. Wrath was the album that I was really looking forward to this year but I'm also excited about Mastodon's new album Crack the Sky.
  14. Yeah that songs ten times better than "contractor" but its still really different than their previous stuff. I agree with you that sacrament was really overproduced, everytime I listen to "redneck" i want to vomit. It seems that sacrament was produced to be a little more listener friendly (i.e. radiofriendly ) and it wasn't nearly as brutal as New American Gospel or As the Palaces Burn. i'm still going to buy the new album because it will be decent but I'm just really p#@$ed that they changed their style so much. I just really hope that L.O.G. doesn't pull a Metallica and start putting out "Fuel"s and "Saint Angers"s. Everything for metallica went downhill after the black album. I hope the same doesn't happen to lamb of god and Wrath.
  15. For those of you that are into metal (fourbizz), have you listened to any of Lamb of Gods new songs from their album Wrath thats coming out. I checked some of them out on youtube and they're awful. They completely changed their style. The music is super thrashy and the vocals are terrible compared to previous albums. I was really disappointed. I love Sacrament and New American Gospel but this new album is crap. Anyone else listen to it yet.
  16. If I were fishing bigger tournaments for more money and it mimicked the forage of a location perfectly I would buy it without hesitation but for the fun fishing and weekend tournaments that I do I wouldn't spend the cash. I'd probably consider it if it was closer to $50 but $150 is way overpriced.
  17. Well after reading the mass quantity of bad experiences thus far its seems that Quantums, at least in the past, have had some serious issues. I was happy to see that there weren't too many complaints about durability with the tour editions but now I at least can see where all the negativity is coming from. I'm in the process of upgrading my tour editions to curados e7s anyway but I was interested in to hear others experiences because I had no problems with mine. Thanks for all the responses guys
  18. That pretty much summarizes what he does. He goes out, finds the absolute most disgusting and revolting things possible to eat, then he makes a point of eating them in the most unappetizing way possible. After all, it wouldn't be nearly as entertaining if he cooked stuff before he ate it. Survivorman > Man Vs. Wild
  19. I always see Quantum getting bashed on the forums, primarily for their durability and weight. People always say that they aren't durable, but I have seen few cases where those people sited actual issues that they have had with Quantum reels. I have a couple of the old blue Tour Editions and I love them and I've had no durability problems at all. Now, I fully admit that shimano and a few other companies make better reels than quantum, and I'm not saying that quantum reels are perfect, but I'm interested to know what actual bad experiences people have had with quantums and whether they actually deserve the reputation they have.
  20. That is not even remotely the experience that I've had at hamburg Cabelas and the Harrisburg BPS. I never feel like cabelas has anywhere near the selection that BPS does. Like others said, they have better clothing and whatnot but as far as tackle selection goes I'd take BPS any day. Cabelas does have a few things that BPS doesn't have but for the most part BPS has much more to offer IMO.
  21. x2 Love my Ricos, never tried a G-Splash. x3 Ricos and Splash its are all I use
  22. Misty Shad and Baby Bass like RW said
  23. LC Pointers are expensive but they are more than worth it in my mind. You really don't need a super wide range of colors either. To get started with pointers, I would suggest buying a 100sp in chartreuse shad and a 100sp in ghost minnow. Use the ghost minnow for clear water and the chartreuse shad for more stained water.
  24. running over the same old ground, what have you found?
