Who Likes Pink Floyd
So are any of you guys into pink floyd? Over the past 6 months i've become more or less obsessed with pink floyd. I had liked them okay for a couple years and I had a couple of the more popular cds (Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall, etc) but I received Animals and Atom Heart Mother from a friend a few months ago and I was blown away. I now own all the cds and they're all amazing. What surprised me most is that I actually like the obscure and psychedelic albums like Piper at the Gates of Dawn and A Saucerful of Secrets. Any other floyd fans here?

Anybody think the smallmouth will make it?
I'm inclined to agree with you. It sounds like trout and pike are the primary game fish species so there's a good chance that anglers aren't targeting smallies or using the appropriate tackle, which would account for the low numbers caught.

A house without a pet (when I say pet, I mean dogs, cats don't qualify) is a depressing place.

66 inch vertical jump
Dude I hate leeches. They're the only things that I'm really afraid of. I don't know why, I've never even had one on me but the idea of them just makes me want to vomit. I'd rather get bitten by a snake or mauled by a bear than have a leach on me lol

How Are You Coping With Winter?
Nope but you can pack up am move on down here. There's plenty of warm water to fish in. Believe me, if I could, I'd be packing my bags as we speak. Maybe I'll elope...

Pointers or Xraps?
I feel your pain, I lost three brand new pointers the last tournament I fished, two to snapped line and one to a big muskie (swallowed my 128). The week before that I lost one at the boat when a 5.5lb smallie slipped out of my hand and broke my line (that one hurt the most :'()

How Are You Coping With Winter?
This is directed to all the Yankees out there (like me) who are stuck inside because every conceivable body of water capable of holding life is frozen solid: How are you guys coping with not being able to fish? Personally, if I weren't able to hunt during the winter, I feel fairly certain that I would have to be committed to an asylum during the coldest months of the year. I've been counting down the days left till my first tournament (which, if you care to know, is 61). I've also built a few rods and and reorganized my tackle 37 different times. However, I'm still going stir crazy!!!

X Rap
If you haven't tried both, how could you be sure that one is better than the other? Anyway... I agree with Jake. I would take a pointer over an xrap any day of the week. I can't tell you how many times I've been fishing with a friend who was using xraps while I was using a pointer. Whenever they see me pull out the pointer they usually start telling me how ridiculous it is to pay $15-20 for a lure and how an xrap works just as well. Almost every time this happens within an hour or two they're asking me if they can borrow one of my pointers. The finishes on pointers are so much more realistic than Xraps imo and in clear water situations the pointers really outshine xraps. This is just my opinion based on my experience with both lures however I would sugest that anyone who hasn't tried a pointer do so if its within their budget.

And to answer your second question, I've seen absolutely no difference between the live pointers and regular pointers other than the fact that the live pointers fall apart much quicker than regular pointers.

Jerkbait rod
I've got a question for the loomis guys. Right now I'm using a custom MBR783 for big pointers (128s) and a BPS Pro Qualifier 6'6"M for regular pointers (78s and 100s). I'm looking to build a loomis rod that can handle the full range of pointers, from 78s to 128s. What IMX model would you guys recomend

Looking for a rod for ripping big jerkbaits, and for wakebaits
I'll be interested to see the responses to this thread as well. I have issues with the 128 size pointers (around 1 oz). When I use them on my 6'6" medium rod it feels too wimpy, but when I use them on my 7'MH it feels like I'm overpowering the jerkbait.

jerkbait techniques
Thats was exactly the advice I was going to give. Except I would suggest 2 pointer 100's in chartreuse shad and ghost minnow and then 2 pointer 128's in the same colors. The 128's look big but don't be intimidated by them.

Perfect skirts and all
I've used perfect skirts in a pinch and I liked them a lot. I tie skirts because I enjoy it and I go through a bunch. If you fish a lot of spinnerbaits and have the time to tie your own skirts I would recomend giving it a try but if you don't fish spinnerbaits a lot I would stick with factory skirts. Another good skirt to try if you can find them are war eagle skirts. They're very similar to perfect skirts but they are a little better quality IMO.

*New Shimano*
To me it would depend on th gear ratio you wanted. The curado is available in 5:1 or 7:1 while the citica is only available in 6:1. If your not concerned with the ratio then I would probably go for the curado just because I IMO its a little bit higher quality

how to build your arsenal?
I no longer buy factory rods since I build all my rods now but if I were a new angler looking to get a good arsenal going, I would definately go the way of Danny1991 and start buying powell rods. They are the best bargain out their IMO. They're high quality, modern, and reasonably priced (around $140 I believe?) and they come in a variety of sizes and actions. Down the road if you want to upgrade a few you could always get a loomis or two to complement your powell arsenal.

Your favorite reel brand
Yes I have heard of these "non-Shimano" reels. The best place to locate non-Shimano reels is the clearance bin of your favorite retailer, or if you watch patiently, a non-shimano reel may be commonly seen in the hands of a misguidedd angler waiting in line at the returns counter hoping they will take back his worthless non-shimano reel in hopes of purchasing an actual Shimano reel.

Baitcasting Jerkbaits
I know so many people are gung-ho about using spinning rods for fishing jerkbaits but I just can't seem get comfortable using jerkbaits on spinning tackle. I absolutely love fishing jerkbaits on baitcasting tackle though, even the smallest sizes of pointers. To me the presentation feels more solid when i'm jerking with baitcasting tackle. Is there anyone else who prefers using baitcasters instead of spinning tackle. Is there any real disadvantage of using a baitcaster over a spinnging rig?
