  1. Or Owner's shakey head jigs. I have had trouble keeping the worm on the post using Spot Removers, so I look for ones with a screw-type retainer.
  2. Without a a receipt it'll probably be a new one or store credit for the lowest sale price on that item in the past few months.
  3. I agree. I picked one up a few weeks ago for $100 and may wind up buying another at the current price. The ones on sale are the '07 models, but as far as I can see the only differences between the '07 model and the current model is the new hook keeper and they changed the shape of the foam/rubber knob that screws into the butt. They retailed for $160 back in '07, so the $80 sale price is quite a deal.
  4. I hit three of my local WM's on my way home from work today and none of them had Sufix line. :-[ I did manage to find a couple SPRO Junglefrogs for $5 each, though. Not a great deal, but I scooped them up them anyway.
  5. ***'s Floaters in "Wat Happened" have been working rather well for me.
  6. I picked up 12 spools of Sufix Elite @ $4 each from WM last year when they put all of their fishing crap on sale. I love it. I've switched almost all of my mono rigs from Trilene XL to Sufix and have no plans of ever going back. If I had bought the few remaining spools of 4# they had, I would've switched over my UL rig as well. Try it, you'll like it.
  7. If you're looking for a spot to fish from the bank, I wish you luck. All of the lakes around Atl. are heavily pressured from the shore and the odds of you having a decent fishing trip are rather slim. I would also suggest hiring a guide.
  8. I picked up a leftover '07 model JM Sig. Model 6'6" MH spinning rod a couple weeks ago on clearance at my local BPS. I've only had it out once, but so far I like it. I bought mainly for tossing frogs/toads in heavily weeded areas and have it set up with a Shimano Sahara 4000 and 50# braid, but I think I may wind up downsizing to a 2500 series reel and 30# braid. I just think it would balance better with a lighter reel.

I picked up a couple skitter props last year and never had any luck with them. I had to fiddle with both of them right out of the package to get the props to turn. I'd much rather use a Heddon Torpedo instead.
  10. The Shimano Compre really needs to be handled before purchasing. That's what I went to BPS to buy on Thursday, but it just doesn't feel good in the hand. I really expected it to feel more like my Crucial, but it doesn't. The lifetime warranty is nice, but it doesn't make it feel any better in the hand.
  11. If you could step down a bit on the reel, the '07 model BPS Johnny Morris Signature Series rods are on clearance right now for a little less than $100. Light, sensitive, Fuji titanium/SiC guides. I bought one Thursday and used it for the first time this morning. I'm rather impressed, especially at the clearance price.
  12. I've had probably a half-dozen pairs of Wolverines in the past. They're pretty comfortable and the uppers hold up fairly well but the soles just don't last. I'd go thru a pair a year. I switched to RedWings about 5 or 6 years ago and will never go back. They cost a bit more, but they're American-made, last a lot longer, and they'll re-sole them for a reasonable fee.
  13. All of their spinning rods above the Extreme have different reel seats than their mid and lower level rods. I don't know what your budget is, but you should look at the Pro Qualifier and Johnny Morris Signature or Elite. The '07 model JM Signature model is on clearance for less than $100. I just got back from my local BPS and after fondling every 6'6" MH spinning rod in the $70-$100 range, the JM Sig. had the best feel...even better than the Compre, which kinda surprised to me. I wound up walking out with one.
  14. I typically fish with a Shimano Symetre 2500 on a 6'6" M/F Shimano Crucial and a Shimano Sahara 2500 on a 6'8" ML BPS Extreme "Woo Daves" dropshot rod. I've recently added a Sahara 4000 w/50 lb braid for frogs/toads and am having trouble deciding whether to get a 6'6" MH Compre or a 6'6" MH Extreme. Rooster, you're not coming to the Atlanta are any time soon, are you? I've got a 7'0" MH BPS Extreme casting rod that I've only used 6 or 7 times that I need to get rid of.
  15. They probably thought you were Jimmy Houston.
  16. I think the general consensus is that the Megaforce is crap...I know mine was. Do a search for "Megaforce" in the "Fishing Rods, Reels, Line, Leaders, and Knots" forum and youll find all of the answers you need.
  17. Try to find out of the way lakes and/or private ponds. If you can get to the lake easily, so can everybody else.
  18. I use Sufix Elite and Trilene XL, with a strong preference for the Sufix. When the time comes to respool my UL and ML spinning rigs, I'll be going with Sufix Elite.
  19. I put a lot of trust in certain brand names. For example, I've yet to be disappointed by any Shimano or Daiwa product that I've owned. I'd have no problem buying any of their mid-level or better gear, sight unseen. I'd trust it to work correctly, right out of the box.
  20. After thinking it over, the Shimano Compre is only $20 more so that's most likely what I'll wind up buying. I'm just not willing to take a chance on a $70 rod that might turn out to be a turd.
  21. I assume he means L&T, as in Light and Tough.
  22. I have to agree with everything rod_long said, and will add that my Megaforce had drag problems. I had to readjust it after every cast. The twitching bar seems like a neat idea, but is pretty much useless in the weed-filled lakes where I typically fish. I think I used mine less than a half-dozen times before I sold it.
  23. That's the reason I resurrected this thread. I'm looking for a 6'6"-7'0" MH spinning rod to use for frogs/toads. The price is right and the specs are decent, but that same $69 would buy a BPS Extreme which I know would be decent... :-/
  24. I prefer Sufix Elite over Trilene XL, but I use both in 4, 8 and 12 lb test. I think the Sufix is smoother and more consistant, but Trilene XL is cheaper and more readily available. I've never noticed a strength difference between the two.
