  2. burley I believe he is talking about top three combos are from his other post all steez reels 2cast 1spinning on custom kistlers but anyways thats great hear how that worked out for you
  3. Muddy, 'Latitude' just refers to the "lure weight" range and "line weight" range that a given blank can handle. You'll notice that some of the most expensive high-modulus rods actually suffer from narrow latitude. Whenever someone is looking for an "all-purpose" blank, they're actually looking for maximum latitude. I own a couple HMGs (ultra-light) and there great blanks, but Fenwick makes many models. To evaluate the latitude of any rod I normally compare the casting weight range to the L&T benchmark: 1/8oz to 1oz Roger thanks roger that really helps out for deciding on overall rod choice 8-)

  11. I do have two Shimano Core's I purchased recently and love them, but I feel the Daiwa Steez represents the pinnacle of fishing instraments. IMHO...Shimano has remained somewhat idle in recent innovation and Daiwa has leaped forward. This is a whole other topic! I don't know about that...while there are plenty of folks around here that recommend Shimano, I think you will find an equal number of anglers that prefer Diawa 8-) Who prefers Daiwa? Yeah buddy...Daiwa is bringin' sexy back! dont forget daiwa also has more on shimano like bringing down the wallet >
  12. I couldnt agree with you more muddy b/c it only miss leads the readers some of which have only us to advise them we should only Recommend stuff we have actually own or have used it would only benfit the readers only seems fair to them are we not right :-?

  17. thanks for the info surfer Mass Hole Mike I am using a baitcaster now its med power 6'6" 10-17#test and to the orginal question was looking at maybe getting a better rod for this kind of fishing and was woundering if this rod is any good or what would be a rod for this? :-? http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_97965_100003001_100000000_100003000_100-3-1

  21. You mentioned my biggest problem with braid, confidence. I usually don't fish cyrstal clear water, but it is by no means chocolate milk color either, and whether the fish can see the line or not, or even if it matters if they can, my problem is the confidence. If I think the fish can see it, I have a problem concentrating on fishing spending too much time worrying if they can see the line. I am giving braid one more chance for a couple months and see how it goes. The other reason I really want braid to work out for me is, the rod that it is one, my jig rod, is also going to double as my frog rod this summer, so I hope it works out. bit concerned about your jig rod is also your frog rod as jig rods are mostly 6'-6.5' and frog rod is much longer so what length power action??? is your rod :-?
  22. roadwarrior brings up a good point that once I was so modavated to land that fish I probly didnt check my line after casting into and around such heavy cover pond hopper I feel your pain I should have checked and retied my lure on but was worried about losing the fish which would be my PB flechero there is a link to my rod on BPS on the top of the post what would be a good action and power and length for this type of fishing? roadwarrior do you believe that line would be strong enough or should I move to braid and a leader? :-? thanks bassmaster
  23. steve to answer your question I had 17# trilene xt extra tough freshy lined not to long before main lures were are mixed between swimbaits some rapalas, devil horse on outside of weeded area and I believe my friend got one on a bigger buzzbait caught a lot of 3-4.5# bass but we have lost some 6#+ which we landed but didnt have a scale at the time (mine Conveniently was broken ) woundnt believe in dull hooks as they were newer baits / sharp hooks they were looked at before leaving water is most of the time stained lots of algae I think braid and a leader could be better but I dont know hope that helps and feel free to ask any other questions as it helps the both of us ;D
