  1. Yep unless I am fishing by myself this is what I do. Also to keep the bait suspended off the bottom.
  2. Depending upon when you felt the bite and set the hook the swivel could be the problem. A swivel can allow the hook to roll a bit before the hook is set. It will note allow for a positive hookset as much as a direct tie. Of course fluorocarbon and braid will have much less stretch than mono. If you wish to use a swivel a line change may help.
  3. Have you asked the fellas who found it refreshing to see women on the lakes if they belong to a club that you could join? I am in agreement that I find it refreshing to see women, men and children enjoy fishing. More so if they conserve the enviroment. My fishing partner (male) and I always make comment when we she a man and women fishing together what a joy it would be if our wives came along. We both own boats and take weekend and weekly trips and unfortunately our wives stay behind.
  4. I guess there are two questions to be answered. 1) I have no problem with anyone fishing with me. I wish my wife had an interest, at least she lets me go fishing! 2) As far as the Women's Section, maybe there are just not enough women on board. The forum is 30,000 members. If women are a small percentage which I would assume it could not work as well due to pure participation.
  5. 8(180)-10(155)-14(110). WHICH ONE IS CORRECT??? This is correct.
  6. Yep that is why we are over 31,000 members strong. All of us learn on a daily basis.
  7. I use to think I had to. Than I realized that she could no longer hide the amount of purses and shoes she had. Life is good! :
  8. I will be there with some home brew. What time does it start and end. I am sure we will be on the water in the afternoon.
  9. I do not get to fish as much as I would like anyway. I will not allow it to effect me.
  10. We have a little Ice Cream Parlor in the town I live in that sells Panny Type Candy, if anyone remembers that! I beleive I have seen them there but have never tried team. I love the Zero Candy Bars and will usually grap one and freeze it.
  11. Wet water is better than hard water any day, go get em.
  12. In shorts yet. At least our edges are liquid, ice still on lakes but unsafe. Why am I not in Texas?
  13. The pros use heavier line because they fish for a paycheck and can not risk losing a fish. I would imagine all use the heaviest line they can get away with.
  14. Watch the fuel surcharges, I believe they should be getting out of hand very soon. I guess that is relative, they already are.
  15. Reality!!!!!!!!!!
  16. I would agree with Roadwarrior on this but would like to add something to this. You talk about Tex Posing. I found that Gamakatsu EWG is the best for Tex Pose of the hook. This is based on the position of the hook point to the eye on line up. I found that once Tex Posed the point stays in the bait much better. Owner although an excellent and strong hook does not lend itself well for Tex Posing.
  17. Sure! Just like last year, minor preparation and don't waste any of the tomato! 8-) It was the beer not me! Looking forward to bending an elbow again this year. remember gunnels are slick.
  18. Two in my party also. Do you need any help?
  19. All of the scents listed have produced for me in particular situations. But the poll only allows for one choice. Given one choice it would have to be garlic.
  20. Add a Lizard for the beginning of the year bite when bass are on the spawn. That part of the season a Lizard shines.
  21. Every Spro I have is like that. I would not get rid of them for nothing.
  22. Color selection is the first thing you look at based on water clarity. Once that is determined I place very little on color unless I change lakes or the water clarity changes from one area of the lake. Location is next to be considered as to give you the best opportunity to have bass present. Then lure presentation changes can and should be considered. If still no bites change location and repeat the cycle as necessary.
  23. Good to here Tom, them labs will sure appreciate her love.
  24. Shane these are nice smallmouths. Not everyone has the opportunity to catch smallies. Certainly not in such adverse conditions regardless of the weight I feel this is a great accomplishment. It is funny I have had guides show me how to take a photo of catches so they appear to look larger. They do this so they can use them for their websites with no claim of weight. Can not blame them they need to make a living. It is obvious that a photo does not represent the true weight, sometimes even a scale, heck I went a whole year one time using a scale that read 6 oz light. In the end I had a better year then I thought. The joy is in the hunt and catch unless you are looking to cash a check. Keep em coming and stay warm.
