  1. Heck, I've done that with pretty much every technique. The hardest part of fishing one bait/technique is taking everything else out of the boat when its time to practice something new ;D .....but it helps tremendously, thats good advice.
  2. What hooks would I recommend? Daiichi Death Traps (sticky sharp) Best way to change them? Very carefully
  3. This was very common back in the late 70's and into the 80's.....and it was one very well known pro in particular that did stuff like that....but like you said, it wasn't illegal back then.
  4. I have no issues feeling anything my bait runs into. I am frequently bumping brushpiles, rocks or just the bottom in 18 -25 ft of water. Most of which I know are there before I make the cast but I can definitely feel them once contact is made. At times, I can even feel a fish behind the crankbait, just before the strike occurs or if one takes a swipe at the bait but misses. A fish following close enough will change the turbulence and you'll feel it if you pay close attention. Glass rods for crankin' are under-rated in my opinion.
  5. A good place to start would be the first drop off a spawning flat and from there, any channels or ditches that lead into deeper water. Points are good gathering spots too, especially for fish that spawn in cuts or bays off the main lake.

The Penguins are looking a lot better tonight.
  7. Thats the one I use and have used it since it came out. I throw deep cranks 75% of the time during the summer and I wouldn't trade that rod for a Dobyns, Powell, Kistler, Loomis or any of 'em. And the telescoping factor doesn't come into play at all with this rod.

Dang it....I had to go back 5 pages to find this thread. So the question now is, will the Penguins score a goal in the Finals?
  9. KVD has certainly made his mark on bass fishing since he hit the scene. I feel like he's one of the top bass fisherman of all time already and possibly THE BEST one day....he's got a lot of years left and I don't think he's going to get any worse.
  10. Way to go guys, looks like there was a bunch of fun had by all. Burley, did you tell all the kids that you are the official "Dinkmaster"?
  11. Sounds like the downward swimming action on the pause is working like they intended.
  12. If you're into fiberglass rods for crankin' like I am, and have been for years and years.....look at the Browning Silaflex rods at BPS....you can get 3 for $105 bucks. Very good crankin' rods for the money. Kick some bass.....crank with glass!
  13. I say each guy has his own boat ( 3 on 3 ) but the old guys combine their weight against the young guys weight at the end of the day. About the 14' jon boats.....the old timers would probably be okay with that but the young guys would probably have to take way too much tackle with 'em and that, in itself, might sink a 14 footer.
  14. David Fritts - he's the crankbait king and I'd like to see how he approaches deep structure Any Lindner brother - those dudes catch everything and everything they catch is huge
  15. The SK Red Eye Shads are, and are not your typical "trap" style bait. While they shimmy and shake on the retrieve like a traditional trap bait, the big draw to the SK RE baits is that they also shimmy and shake as they sink when you stop reeling. A regular trap just sinks like a rock with minimal/no action. The Red Eye baits are deadly on suspended fish because they actually swim down when you stop reeling.

    WELCOME!!
  17. This website can get you started ------> http://www.geminisportmarketing.com/album/ They'll tell you what you can and can't get on a shirt. As far as getting a boat logo put on a shirt, I dont see the big deal.....most major boat companies sell these shirts on their websites to begin with. Maybe you can wear their logo but you have to buy the shirt w/ logo from them.
  18. Hey Russ, can I get an autographed crankbait or something?
  19. WELCOME to the site, we're glad you stopped in!
  20. The old guys laid the foundation for later generations to catch bass in good numbers, the young guys seem to be expanding on things nowdays. The old guys are more prone to be locked in to one technique that can get them in the money if their "chosen technique bite" is on. Examples: Hank Parker (spinnerbait), Clunn (crankbait), Larry Nixon (plastic worm).....I wouldn't bet against any of those guys if that particular bite is on. The young guys seem to have a little less patience which makes them abandon a plan that's not working and try something different. I think the versatility comes from so many "new" techniques being found and so many lures out now that they feel like they have to try them all or else get left behind by others in the field using the newest techniques and lures. The old timers probably resist that urge a little more than the younger guys because of what they've always done in the past has worked just fine. Plus, electronics are so much a part of the game today that the fish really don't have anywhere to hide. Most of the pros, young or old, can get on a lake and locate structure and big groups of fish within hours. The time saved looking for structure and fish is now spent on making them bite.....and that, they do. I think a YOUNG vs OLD SHOWDOWN is in order. Dance, Roland and Parker against KVD, Ike and Skeet. 15 fish per team, 14" minimum.
  21. SPANK! SPANK! SPANK! You guys probably hooked half the fish in the lake in one day! Way to go fellas! Tin, where's all the Carrot Stix?
  22. Cool video Glenn....I'd expect nothing less!

I really had a blast with the Rage Tail shad last time out. After catching a few bass on it over a few different holes, I made a move into an area that was holding a large amount of shad. I started throwing the RT shad around and immediately hooked up but it was a white bass. Me and my partner ended up catching probably 40 - 50 white bass , a couple smallmouth and a couple largemouth in that one area and blew right thru 4 bags of Rage Tails. Well worth it.
