  1. Are you guys done with this thread yet?
  2. I guess I'll jump in with something other than a Shimano recommendation. Pflueger Supreme MG....very light with a silk-like drag. Under $100 bucks.
  3. The usual....they'll inspect it after they receive it and let me know what its going to take to replace it. I had to send in $20 to cover them shipping me another one. I dont expect to pay anything more than the shipping, the rod was almost brand new and they'll be able to tell it. I doubt it can be fixed, it broke about 9-10 inches down from the tip between the 3rd and 4th guide.
  4. Thats awesome! Way to go Blaine!!
  5. I wouldn't jump off the Dobyns or Powell boats just yet. I've owned several Powells in the past that were great rods. The Dobyns I broke was probably due to a weak spot in the blank, which does happen from time to time. I expect the replacement rod will perform just fine.
  6. ....and be sure to take a camera to take pics of all the bass you'll catch.
  7. The LC Rick Clunn cranks are fairly heavy, come thru cover pretty good and cast well.
  8. I had a Dobyns crankbait rod break last week while flippin a 2 pounder into the boat. I'm waiting on the verdict of how they're going to work the warranty claim. It was only the second time I had ever used the rod and maybe the 3rd or 4th fish I'd caught with it.
  9. Micro, I have tennis elbow (left arm) and have been putting off the fusion surgery for a while now. I wear one of the bands pretty much 24-7 but I wear it almost in the bend of my arm, a little higher than most....it helps me better up high, closer to the elbow where the tendon attaches to the outside of your elbow bone. Without the band, I'm in pain. I've been thru about 6 different bands and the one that works best for me is one I found at WalMart that is actually a knee strap. It has a hard foam insert sewn in and runs around my arm. The hard foam holds the muscle down from expanding, better than the regular bands with nothing in them. They are about $6 or $7 bucks, black in color. I also get a cortisone shot about every 6 months which lasts a month or two, sometimes longer. I'd get them more often but the doc will only shoot you about every 6 months. The cortisone shot works wonders.....after the shot is over with (its a very painful shot), it feels like you had a brand new arm installed. Wear the band, try a few different ones out and wear it all the time. Thats the only thing that helps other than surgery if you need it.
  10. Chill out crazybass, I wasn't jumping on you. 4Biz is a credible member and posts tons of pics of good bass he's caught. Most people around here know that he does his homework and puts the time in to catch these fish. I'd be shocked if he photo-shopped any of them.
  11. Anybody here familiar with Skinny Bear Elite Football jigs? I want to tie some of my own skirts but I'd like to use the same material thats on the Skinny Bears. The material they use on the Elite jigs is very fine, round, living rubber. I know its available somewhere online, I just dont know what it's called to be able to look for it and order the correct stuff. Any ideas?
  12. Did he really ask that question or did I finally finish off that 12 pack?
  13. HIJACKER ALERT!! And what exactly is a SHIMNAO? Flea market SHIMANO?
  14. THATS IT!! I'M MOVING TO CALIFORNIA!! Nice work 4biz! See you in a few weeks, I'm looking for apartments out there right now! ;D
  15. I am partial to browns and greens, especially browns.
  16. In my opinion and based on my experience on my home lake, water temperature below 45 degrees means one thing....the fish are deep, in a winter pattern and relating solely to shad. Once the temps stay steady for a few days above 45, thats when I will change my fishing a little bit because the bass (& shad) should be moving from winter into spring, from deep to less deep and eventually shallow as the temps keep going up. Once the temps stay steady at 50, I believe locating the warmest water you can find becomes more important. Again, thats just my take on the situation and based on what I have experienced on my lake (26,000 acre highland reservoir) that is loaded with shad.
  17. Use your electronics and locate what you can. You just need to find out what they eat and is the main forage of the lake. Once you find some fish, a bait that can be fished in their face would be the best choice because bass generally don't/won't move very far to eat in the cold water. If the fish are hugging the bottom, a dropshot would be a good choice. Suspended? Jigging spoon all the way.
  18. Wow, even after making the big Premier switch? I didn't "switch".....I added the Premiers. I still have my STX's.
  19. NICE!! WAKE UP KU!! ;D You must not have been fishing a Berkley Power Bait, you would've had plenty of time to set the hook.
  20. Whats the water temp? If you're looking at mid-high 30's, you're best bet would probably be looking for shad first, then when you locate some shad on your graph, drop a jigging spoon down. Bass in the winter time and in cold water temps especially will hang tight around the larger groups of shad. The jigging spoon is probably the most dependable way to get them now, especially if they're down more than 20 ft. and the water is < 40 degrees. Whatever you do, just remember SHAD.....find some shad! I dont think water temps play a big part in a basses life until it reaches 44 or so, any less than that, I'm using a jigging spoon regardless. If you can graph some fish that are holding shallow enough, you may be able to get 'em with a suspending deep crank or deep diving suspending jerkbait. Find the bait, the bass will be there.
  21. I own both, I like both. In my opinion the STX is the best of all the Revo's.
  22. If you gut hook a fish which causes the fish to bleed, rub some of the Please Release Me or Catch N Release right on the cut. It works as a coagulant and will stop the bleeding in most cases. And Gobble Dog, I agree, a good livewell will do the trick most times but the Sure Life additives really calm the fish down and cut down on their stress levels. You can look down in your livewell and it doesn't even phase the fish....they're just in there hanging out comfortably, not beating themselves to death against the livewell walls trying to get out. The stuff makes a difference. I will trade anyone a bottle of Catch N Release or Please Release Me if you will send me a bottle of Rejuvenade in return. I will be dumping out the Rejuvenade when I get it. PM me if interested.
  23. Anything can be done. You'll need a 3 way switch instead of a 2 way switch like you have now. I'd contact Motorguide and tell them what you want....I'm sure they'll sell you one.
  24. Just heard on CNN, a Ray with about a 5 ft span jumped up onto the deck of a boat that was traveling approximately 25 mph and collided with the woman on the front deck. She died soon after.
