  1. I know with the weather being bad (Cold...Ice) and me not being able to fish, this forum has been my go-to. Helps me to relieve this sickness of nonfishingitus. :-/

Pike are not afraid of anything, I went on a fly in trip and one pike hit my daredevil a good 12 times before I could get him, even had him hooked and almost in the net and he got off. Turned around casted at him again and sure enough he hit it, frayed my 30# leader and took all the paint off my daredevil.
  4. A Bad day of fishing beats a good day of work. That being said, yes of course you should go fishing.
  5. Student at SUNY Brockport, Major in Environmental Science specializing in Aquatics. Summer Job is bank teller and lawn mower.
  6. Just want to see what everyone does for a living, I see a bunch of folks that have these really nice bass boats so they gotta do something good. Currently I am a student and I am majoring in Environmental Science with focus in Aquatics ;D
  7. Farm ponds up here are still frozen, so i would grab a hockey stick and some pucks
  8. I don't think its necessary but it will help, I think if you have a 6.3:1 you should be fine, but it does help a little to have a fast ratio.
  9. x2 with the KVD video, great video shows different ways to make short casts and which ones are best for which situation.
  10. O boy do I have some good info for you, Last summer me my brother and my uncle did a Canadian fly in trip and it was a blast. Caught a ton of walleye and pike. We did alot of research and found a place that was relatively cheap ~850 a person which was alot cheaper compared to some that were $1500+. http://www.tamarac.ca/ that is the website to the place, we were on Lake Hebert. For more questions feel free to PM me.
  11. I am looking at getting the Avid, alot of folks on here said it was good so when I make my trip to BPS next week I plan on holding one to see. Also it comes with a lifetime warranty and knowing me it has a good chance of breaking so this is a big positive. I have heard St. Croix rods are a little stiffer than usual so test one out first. Also i have been looking at a few other including e21 carrot sticks, BPS JM Elite, and Kistler Mg. Those all seem to be under $200 and have higher quality. Good Luck! -Dylan
  12. I would do the double uni, i have used it and it works well, also to avoid slippage get some super glue and apply a little to the knot.
  13. Have no clue of the make, it does have some holes the lady said it lets in some water and i can see a hole. I am going to start by sanding the whole boat and fixing the holes and then repainting.
  14. 30# braid, can easily go to 65# braid as well
  15. I am also going as a non boater this year. My plan is to talk to my boater prior to the tournament and see what his plans are. If I am unable to do that I will probably take four rods. 1. 7ft Heavy with fast action, and a baitcast reel with 30# braid. this will be good for light flippin' and pitchin' as well as frogs and a few other things 2. 7ft Medium/Heavy with fast action, and baitcast reel with 12# mono, good all around rod for most applications. 3. 6'6" Medium Heavy fast action, baitcast reel with 17# mono for topwater and spinnerbaits. 4. 7ft medium, Spinning reel with 6# fluoro and extra spool with 10# fluoro. Used for dropshotting or weightless worms. That way every technique can be used and i don't have too many rods, also different styles of line to help work the situation better.
  16. Ouch that stinks to lose a reel during a tourney. I would see which one you like best, I like quantum but have never tried Abu, my friend fishes with Abu and likes it also. So depends on which one you would prefer.
  17. Get a big @SS dog , but if you don't want one, they (pet stores) do sell some thing that keeps cats away. Its like a spray that they are apparently afraid of. My parents put it on the furniture to keep them from scratching it and they would go and smell it and walk away. You could possibly give that a shot.
  18. The transom width is 50" and its max width is 58".The bottom is relatively flat (not a v Hull).
  19. no it was still completely frozen over I will have to wait till the end of march
  20. Well I just bought it today for $30, its a 14ft aluminum boat with three benches in it.
  21. This summer I am thinking of doing a boat mod and was wondering if it loses stability when you build up. Like if i were to put a deck on the boat at the seat level it seems it would not be very stable. Any comments would help. Thanks - Dylan
  22. Big Gull lake/Claredon Lake. Bout an hour out of Kingston.
  23. I also own a cottage in Ontario and frequently go snorkeling there, the visibility is only about 5-6ft but if you snorkel in shallow waters it works fine. I usually find a point i like to fish and snorkel on top of it. Whats cool is it seems the fish are intrigued by your snorkeling so they come to check it out and often you see some nice size fish and then later go back and catch them. Just last year I was snorkeling my favorite spot and two 8+ pound largemouth came swimming by, now I just gotta go catch them.
  24. Is this just your GM? or is a nationwide thing
