if you twist the wire twists tight enough with needle nose it will typically break and you can remove the skirt from there.

It almost sounds like the skirt is backward on the jighead. If its not a finesse skirt the short end should go toward the hook bend. Long end points toward the head. This allows it to give you the bend. You may have to move the collar some to get it where you need it on the jighead.

Mike does a great job. He fixed one of my problem reels up for me not too long ago. He is also very helpful. He has given me some good info on extending a handle on a rod. More on this later.

Catt pretty much summed it up. I personally fish a jig and t rig exactly the same in most instances. I use mostly short hops and drags depending on bottom contour. To me fishing a jig is all about feel. Watch a crayfish move across the bottom and replicate this movement.

Ive alwas been a stick to the om kinda guy. I would run the 87 and use sea foam or similiar product. We do not have access to ethonal free fuel around here.

Most of mine are at about 1/2-3/4" past the hook.

99% of the time I do not trim. If there is a jig with a real long weed guard I will take a little off. This is extremely rare.
