REEL MAGIC!
- Rootbeer and Rootbeer/Chart.
I catch a ton on Rootbeer which is like a Translucent (big word heh!) Pumpkinseed as well as pumpkinseed in crystal clear water. Sounds like this is one of those colors that will produce wherever you use it. I use the chartreuse tail when skipping baits under docks or under and around boats.- tackle and baitmonkey
We will never win the war. Unless someone re-programs our brains (or our wives cancel our credit cards) the chimp will always be smiling in the end! ;D Agree with RoadWarrior. If I end up spending twice what I planned on, I consider it a small win anyway.- Barlows Tackle Bulk Plastics
I agree. A good example is Strike King Shadalicious and Bass Magic swimbaits. Exactly the same but Strike Kings cost more. Go figure.- Extreme Turbo Rig
Banjo Minnows actually work even though they are overpriced flukes or slug-go's. I got a kit for my birthday a few years ago and low and behold, actually caught fish on them.- Walk the dog topwater baits
I like to throw them early A.M and towards evening from mid to late spring on. Some days you can catch fish on them all day. Others you can't buy a bite. Experiment and you will develop a sense of when to use them as with everything else. That doesn't mean they'll work but it will give you a start!- spike-it scent and color markers.
X2. Adds a little something different to the tail or sometimes the head of my lizards and senkos. I use the Garlic scented. be careful not to spill. Hold over the water if you use it in the boat!- Extreme Turbo Rig
I might get one for my aquarium. Kind of like the scuba diver that goes up and down.- Crankbait color/pattern choice
Sexy Shad (or Citrus Shad) for clearer water. Firetiger for stained. Real clear water whatever the prevailing baitfish species is. Shad, Perch etc. A little flash never hurts in deeper water.- Deep Diving Crankbaits
Love the DD22. Also, Bagley's original DB3. You need to really muscle them out there since they are balsa but they have that backward float up action that fish can't seem to resist. Haven't tried too many others as these seem to work for me.- Most versatile oz. weight for rubber jigs?
Same here. 3/8 -1/2. 3/4 if I'm fishing deep and fish are active and want a faster retrieve. Cliche but use the lightest you can get away with.- Frogs
X2. Already bought a few. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20166-cat601233&id=0053847122721a&navCount=5&podId=0053847&parentId=cat601233&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=IJ&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat601233&hasJS=true Have not tried these but heard good things. Always liked Snagproof Bobbys Perfect and Boze Sumo also.- Rapala DT-20
http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_74143____SearchResults Read Reviews. I was going to buy a couple but now have second thoughts. Ask around before buying. Rapala are usually first rate.- worm hooks?
F.M- Excellent video! Covers it all. Too bad you don't look look like Brad Pitt. You could have your own show!- Pointers or Xraps?
I think it comes down to which one you have confidence in. I get my Pointers on E-Bay and X-Raps there and when on sale at BPS. Losing an X-rap hurts a little less than a Pointer. Pike and Musky love them. Anyone else like Bomber Long A's? I've caught more fish on this than first 2 combined, but have been using it for 20+ years.- Rigging a Tube Weedless
Being the cheapo I am, I have found that a 1/16 0r 1/8 oz. dipsey sinker works just as good as any "tube weight" and is easier to rig than most. Just t-rig as you normally would but right after insertimg hook into nose (3/0 ewg wors great), fish point thu loop in top of sinker you have inserted into tube. You can push sinker so it is almost ready to break thru front of tube and see where you need to put hook in. Works great and you can get 10 weights for 2 bucks.- Worm Bed
I used a styrofoam cooler that you get when you mail order steaks. It's about 3 feet square X 1.5 feet high. I filled it with magic worm bedding and waited for the first good spring rain. I picked about 200 fat juicy crawlers and put them in and thought I was in heaven until I went downstairs the next day and found the buggers all over. I didn't put a weight on the lid and they crawled out. Wife said either they go or she goes. I'll miss her. ;D- tiki monkey?
- Favorite of 08'
Tossup. 1) 5" Tiki Stick. Pumpkin/Chart Tail 2) Strike King 4.5" Shadalicious. Sexy Shad. Yes Sexy Shad.- Help! - Skipping
My favorite baits for skipping are 4" tube and 5" senko, both t-rigged weightless or as little weight as possible. I use Spinning gear with 12 or 15 lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft. You need a lager capacity reel for this. Have caught several pifs under docks and Pontoon boats. Gave up on using baitcasting as 1 slight mistake and you just got a mess and probably spooked the fish or need to turn around and re-position the boat (Wind). Can't remember getting broke off- set the hook ASAP and don't give fish chance to go to the left or right. Of course a pig up here is 6 lb., 10lb might be trickier.- Buck Perry Books
Here you go: http://www.buckperry.com/ When all else fails I always try spoonplugging. Got my P.B. Musky of 52" trolling a 700 Red/Black Scallop off the deep weed edge with boats all around fishing and skiing. Some of the skiers got back in the boat when they saw me land it.- tiki monkey?
Wave lures makes excellent products. I haven't used the monkey yet, but it looks awesome and I'm sure it will work great.- Ice Fishing Gear
I use 2 custom made Rembrandt rods I bought at the Chicago fishing expo held every winter. I couple them with 2 tiny Zebco underspin reels that I don't think are made anymore. 1 has 2 lb. line for panfish and 1 has 4lb. for walleye, white bass etc. with my favorite lure, the 1/8 oz. Rapala jigging rap. Turn on my trusty FL-8 and cut lots and lots of holes. have caught many large bass and walleye toward the end of ice season off the deep weedlines nearest shallow spawning bays, not to mention some pig pike and musky, all on tip-ups. For you guys down south, this must sound strange nut once you try it you're hooked! - Rootbeer and Rootbeer/Chart.
