Day At Spruce Run w/ Nughuffer 420... What species of fish????
Hey guys today me and Nughuffer went to meet for the first time and fish. It was a blast! Since I've been getting skunked every time I been on that lake I was so happy not to have been skunked today. Today I cought a 2lb 8oz Hybrid. It was hooked use a LC Sp 100. We tried to get a pic but the camera didn't work. Then we took one on my phone but accidently got deleted. Then later in the day in between 2:30pm and 4pm The Nug hooked up with 2 fish. We were working the 2 points that Zel pointed us too. I say they are smallies but we both aren't to sure. The reason being is that there heads and mouths look deformed. So we ask for your identifing skills. Thanx

Lake Nockamixon
Good luck there. Remember to go slow with plastics around the matted weeds. Don't get me started Sharkbite! Lake Nockamixon has a 20HP restriction. My boat has a 150HP motor, therefore I can only use the trolling motor there. Personally, I think any lake that allows gas motors should allow any HP, but limit it to NO WAKE. Unfortunately, government agencies have a tendency to legislate for the 2% of offenders rather than the 98% of law-abiding citizens. Beltzville Lake is a great example of an effective NO WAKE policy. It has an unlimited HP rule, but a very large portion of the lake is designated NO WAKE, and has very little problems with it. I've signed several petitions over the years in favor of the NO WAKE rule for restricted gas motor lakes, but I doubt I will ever see it in my lifetime. > And I usually fish with others that have boats with small motors, or a kicker motor, when I fish Spruce Run. Yea I agree. I always thought it was more of a safety issue. Just like on the del rivers you get alot of nuckle heads clowning around. I am lucky I just have a 3 HP

NJ Fishing
As you said, there usually are anglers on the spot so I tend to fish where they aren't, and move in after they leave. But if the spot is empty I start on the shoreline (throwing to all that brush) and work my way out to the end of the point, working the entire flat and the edges of the dropoff. I tend to stick to stickbaits, Fat Ikas and 4" straight worms there. That area I work the plastics real slow. Ok I see what I have been doing wrong now I think :-/ I have been fishing very close to the shore line. as well as focusing on that first drop about 10' to 12' off shore. I did dead stick with no strikes so I moved once I got the feeling that it wasn't a active zone. The water temp was coooler then too.

Lake Nockamixon
I was in a bass club for over a decade and was a tournament director... so I have fished a lot of lakes in eastern PA and a bunch in NJ. At the Nox, I usually go out of Tohickon, and since I only use a trolling motor there, I don't get to go very far. That area I find success in the matted weeds (but as I said before, the Nox hasn't been my most productive lake... but the ones I do catch seem to be of better quality than average for PA lakes). Ok well when I get out there you know I will let you know how I do. So why is it that you only use trolling b/c engine size? Is that the same situation you are in a Spruce Run?

Put an 8" tire on a rim today...PITA!!
I just replaced my trailer tires and I got some pointers from auto tech. Never use oil or grease b/c it will stay on the tire and affect the seal. Soap is the best thing. Also when using soap if your beed didn't get a good seal you can look at it in the water and see more bubbles. Next thing we did was made a jig in a vice to hold the rim still that was the best thing b/c the rim kept slidding around. Once we got it to sit still we got it rite on with a taped up screw driver to prevent damage.

Hey thanks Jamie. I am still new to bass fishing all around so I really focus on learning before I enter a tournament. Thanks for the invite though. Once I get down there I will let you know how I do. Keep me posted. Do you know the depth of that area?

NJ Fishing
ABSOLUTELY! Great thanks. How far off of the shore line do you start? Do you cast rite up close to shore then work your way back. Or do you start furthewr and work your way close? I always see alot of anglers there. I think that might be why I don't catch them with all that pressure.

First Foot Controlled Motor
ok guys thanx. Well I have a really light boat. Its a 12' row boat. So I am certain that the 40lb will be good enough. I do like my Minn Kota I have now as well.

NJ Fishing
Spruce Run is my second favorite lake in New Jersey Here is a contour lake map of Spruce Run for you... no need to graph it. http://www.state.nj.us/dep/fgw/pdf/lakes/sprucern.pdf And here are my 2 favorite locations on the lake. Weightless 5 Trick Sticks, Rapalas, and 4 straight finesse worms on a jighead do the trick for me in the springtime. http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i282/zelmonster/spr1.jpg (The ocassional 10 pound striper will get the heart pounding.) Hey Zel do you still fish these point during the spawn?

First Foot Controlled Motor
Hey guys after researching some more at walmart I found a Motorguide for $229.00 It has a 2 year warrenty also. But it does not have the composite shaft or foot petal. Is this important? How much stronger is it?
