Been a 6th Sense fan for a while now. Great components, colors, & sizes makes these effective. And the price point is more than fair for what you get. The Crush Flat 75X Square Bill has been very productive. And the 5/8 oz S n a t c h 70X lipless bait is starting to become a fan favorite for me as well. The FRS model (Faint Rattle Sound) has just the right mix of vibration & subtle sound to be very effective in these clear waters. I could go on, but I'll just say that if it say's 6th Sense on the box - I'll fish it with confidence. A-Jay

In the example here I'd say the Caterpillars were the bass's prey and the reason the bass were there. Fish busting on bait is also a prey related situation. By knowing in advance the life cycle of the insects (Caterpillars) as well as which bait the bass were busting on by the dam would have provided an opportunity to be there fishing for the bass even if there were no visual signs that it was happening. As often times much of what goes on remains below the surface and invisible to the angler. A-Jay

I'd recommend taking it step further (or backwards depending on your perspective). Learn what the bait in your system eats. Knowing what that is, when it's available & where can put you on the right track. Just like the bass - except for the brief spawning period, The Food is what will drive the location & behavior of the bait. I will say that this can be just as daunting a task as it relates to the basses prey as it is for the bass itself. There a lot of similarities - and you'll find that they do eat each other at different stages of their life cycles. It also seems like there is quite a bit of feeding during feeding going on. Meaning while the bait is looking to feed on something, the bass know this, are already there waiting for them, hoping to take advantage of the bait's distraction / focus on feeding to feed themselves. I do not fish for bass on beds so I can't help you there. Since not all the bass are doing the same thing at the same time, pre & post spawn fish will probably be holding in the same place. I'd back out to fish the first structure break or drop off and look for cover (preferably wood) close to or on it. If that's a no go, I'll go out to the next break line. Either way could be tough sledding as the bass may not be in an eating mood for a bit making finding them challenging. The wind direction may play a role here as well. As the habitat warms back up so should the action. Later in the day may be good at least to start. Fish that are using areas that drop off quickly seem to move the least, distance wise. These features not only prevent sunburns and long-term skin damage, but they also protect the wearer from UVB rays in addition to UVA rays. UVB rays are much more harmful than UVA, and are present even on cloudy days. Plus, this protection doesn't wear off. Instead, your safety increases as the Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) increases. Bare skin with sunscreen can not & does not provide any thing close to the cool comfort of todays products designed for the job. A cotton T-shirt is not in this category. A-Jay
