  1. Spooling the line off the spinning reel and onto a casting reel will place mostly "Un-fished" line on the top of the spool of the casting reel. So you should be good there. I will say 10 lb line is a little light for a casting reel. Especially if this is your first one and you're learning to cast it, I'd recommend learning with 15 lb line. You'll find the learning curve shorter. A-Jay

  5. My friend Dwight Hottle relayed something that happened to him recently that at the time - I'm thinking he didn't think was too funny. But after some time, there is a chance he could see the humor there. If he does, perhaps he'll share it. If not, then I'm sorry I brought it up. A-Jay
  6. You'll probably be good to go. I fish some very clear water and the farther away from the boat I can get the bait - the better. The #10 braid casts a really long way for me. A-Jay
  7. If you want to remain stationary, Anchoring (or tying off to something) is your solution and is common practice. Fishing from a canoe, I will often "use" my bait to fish down a bank or to cover a flat. Baits that offer resistance like cranks & spinnerbaits will actually pull me along in the direction I'm fishing. So I plan for it. You'll need to account for any wind or current as well. A-Jay
  8. #10 Braid & 6 lb mono leader. #20's a little too beefy for me here for a drop shot. A-Jay

  15. Growing up in New England I actually really loved catching pickerel - super aggressive and often times they saved the day. But now - the crazy - biting off every other bait I tie on - pike population here, has soured me a bit. A-Jay
