  1. For me versatility is a means to an end - and in the end I want to get bit. If what I'm using works them I don't switch. As anglers, we all know that nothing works all the time. So, I've read, learned and "become more versatile". Once I run into a spot or a situation where what I know does not produce, I have to add something to my game. Either a different / new bait, technique or perhaps a presentation. I'm not traveling all over the country and although fishing my local water does provide some diversity, there are limitation there. But that's the great thing about this sport, a man can take it as far as he wants and then some. One thing that I've learned over the years is every time I think something is "too" anything; whether is too big, small, fast, slow, deep, shallow, early, late, hot, cold, windy or rainy, too weedy or too open - some one proves me wrong. So I try not to do that as much. A-Jay
  2. Nice Bass ~ ! And that photo is cool - looks a lot like a "Dream" I have most every night all winter long . . . Congrats. A-Jay
  3. Hey Goose - Thanks for looking out. A-Jay
  4. I knew that one would chap your *** a little . . . . Thanks for the teeth tip - hope the CRS don't kick in. But I'm really having one heck of time finding a new rug - seems they don't make that red mullet one any more. A-Jay

  9. Some would say that Cliff Pace came out of no where to win the classic. My view point is that the man went about his business in a professional manner before, during and after this win. What I really respect the most is that when he finally was crowned the Champion of the Super Bowl of Bass Fishing, he exercised the self discipline to maintain his composure and conduct himself in a fashion that represented himself and the sport admirably. I believe the attached article does a nice job summing this up. A-Jay
  10. Both eyes ~ And I'm starting to really like all this youngsters stuff . . . . . A-Jay
  11. Very cool looking craft with lots of possibilities - love the videos on that link. I wanted to ask - on an average fishing day, how many random hand stands are you prone to pull off ? A-Jay
  12. I'm totally with you on that J - but I haven't had to "learn that the Hard way" on this bait yet. But being the slow learner that I am - it's only a matter of time. A-Jay
  13. Joe, you're a brave one and your Aussie must clearly be well trained. On roller-blades there is a little matter regarding stopping that would concern me. I bet you can get up quite a head of steam, especially on an extended decline. The booties are a good deal for many reasons, especially if there is any salt on the road. The dogs want to lick it off and that causes all kinds of problems. A-Jay A-Jay

  15. Airline tickets Purchased ~ check Private Air arranged and confirmed ~ check Room reservations made ~ check Sun screen & bug spray packed ~ check Now I've only got 10 days left to practice drinking those Margarita's, hope that's enough time . . . . A-Jay
  16. Cutting off the stock trebles and adding split rings is certainly an option. I did not go that way. I unscrewed each side hook hanger and carefully opened it up with a pair of fine needle nose pliers. Then simply slid off the old hooks and replaced them with the new ones. A slight pinch of the pliers again and the hanger is closed and the hook secure. Then re-mount the hardware. I did go with the Owner Stingers. A-Jay
  17. Cool - I know I'm really looking forward to it as well. I'll admit, it will be hard to pass up on the shallow bite that comes each spring in lieu of staying out on the deeper pre-spawn and post-spawn staging areas. But it will get dramatically easier to do if I hang a couple of the kind of bass I'm hoping to. A-Jay
  18. When anchoring in any current or wind / waves you MUST ALWAYS anchor off your BOW - you may capsize if you anchor any other way. Two anchors are fine as long as the bow of your vessel is facing any wind, waves and/or current. A-Jay

Good Luck - Perhaps you could refrain from posting up any speedo shots - Ain't nobody got time for that ~ A-Jay
  20. So, That would be a Kicker Fish then . . . . Nice. A-Jay
  21. The Zen Master certainly has an intriguing view point on the sport. I'll admit even though I am a RC fan and even when he was winning, some of that stuff is a little out there. It's like that NFL commercial referencing superstition - it's only weird when it doesn't work. A-Jay
  22. I am a fan as well. Looking forward to the next event. It's all about the coverage; tournament official and camera on every boat. The Classic pales in comparison and should consider adopting a similar format. Simply shrink the field to a manageable number of anglers. I understand the mindset of having competitors from various bass entities and the importance of having a high number of angling participants contributing to the increase in Sponsor Dollars. The NFL Super Bowl only has 2 teams playing and their sponsors appear to do OK. The past and current Classic format causes a very watered down spectator event simply because of shear number of anglers participating. Back before the social media explosion, this format worked fine. Now, It's a Dinosaur and I fear it will suffer the same fate if changes are not made soon. A-Jay
