  1. YOU ARE KILLING ME ! A-Jay
  2. They have several things going for them as table fare. Usually easy to catch. Easy to clean and cook. Fillets practically fall right off. A-Jay
  3. Bluegill by a Longshot for me. Keeper Walleye come in second and I stop there. I use a lightly seasoned breading on both and never any hot sauce of any kind I want to taste the fish. It's THE ONLY fried food I eat, but it's just so good. For a different deal, I will sometimes use a tempora type batter. Hope you have awesome weather and a great time A-Jay
  4. 4.6L V-8 and 200 hp. Nice unit. A-Jay
  5. I've already got a V-8 on the back of my Lund. And it's actually the right color. 😎 A-Jay
  6. Early 30's and you're already talking about the good old days when you were 20 ? Buckle up butter cup because 30 years from now getting out on the water is quite a bit harder. I'll be 65 in 3 days and I work very hard at keeping myself in shape all year long and it really helps. Even still, I can't fish all day any more. I'll use 1/3 of my energy to travel to and fish the lake. And save 2/3's to get home safe. No falling asleep at the wheel for this guy. However many 'hours' that comes out to - it is what it is. But I feel good and sometimes I even catch a few. Good Luck. A-Jay
  7. Looks like a dead floater to me ~ So the only way he caught that one is if someone threw it to him. A-Jay
  8. Prefer the mid price point stuff. I'm a 3000 size user & abuser. I like the line capacity and line management qualities. A long spool is helpful but with thin braid it's almost a wash for me. All that said, It's either Shimano or Diawa. But I do not have a clear favorite at this point. Top performers for me have been the Vanford and the Tatula MQ LT. I will agree with you that the newest Vanford FA might be worth taking a look at when it comes out too. A-Jay
  9. So morning's good. Mid day's good. Late afternoon's good. And Night time's good. Interesting that I only catch them when I go. A-Jay
  10. Just like casting reels that backlash, Rigs on deck (or in the rod locker) do not tangle themselves. But you knew that. Wrap the line around the rod - every time. And give your rigs some space. No rigs in a 'pile'. A-Jay
  11. Workout Day 1 this morning. Slowly getting back more and more of my capacity to train & recover. Sufficient Sleep & enough clean calories is key for me. #borninfiftynine https://youtu.be/EuU1PB98TAY?feature=shared A-Jay
  12. Past decade or so of presenting jerkbaits to brown bass has seen me using several different spinning outfits with an assortment of lengths & actions that I had varied levels of success with. Do not see the need to list them here as I believe it may only confuse the issue. Instead, I add what I have settled on, for what and why. First off length; the Pro-V bass sits a little higher in the water which permits me to use a bit of a longer stick without slapping the water all day. This allows for longer casts. Big Fan. Second, I hate XF action anything and even the super high modulus graphite Fast action sticks are too much for me. Not looking for a noodle rod, but a blank that loads every time I need it to, and stays loaded when I need it to, is my preference. And if we're getting picky, full cork grips make me happy. All that said, I'm currently digging 2 St Croix rods. Both from the new Avid spinning line. For smaller jerkbaits like the Megabass Vision 110 Jr +1 (and smaller) I go with the 7 ft ML F For just about all my other standard size jerkbait deals, the 7 ft M F gets it done. You didn't ask about reels so I'll not clog this response up with that info. Good Luck shopping. A-Jay
  13. It's not. If the weight transfer system doesn't flow easily from front to back in your hand, it's probably not working properly on the cast either. Not sure what to tell you other than perhaps contact Strike King directly and ask for replacement. Just so you know, I've not ever done that so I'm not sure if that's even a thing. Good Luck and sorry your baits are jacked up. A-Jay
  14. You're Welcome and Thank You. The generous support offered here by you as well as all of BR forum family has been inspiring and so helful to us both. Also in my book, generous and sincere concern is never prying. Thanks again brother, you're a good man. 👍 A-Jay
  15. LOL ~ A man can dream . . . . A-Jay
  16. Nice flavor selection too. But the most popular sentiment in the other jerkbait thread says they just aren't that good. I say, it's not the arrow, it's the Indian. 😎 A-Jay
  17. Strike King KVD 300 Jerkbait and the Strike King KVD 300 Deep Jerkbait have both been very good for me. The Strike King KVD Elite 300 Jerkbait offers more color options and upgraded hardware. (still addicted to Megabass bait however.) A-Jay
  18. Workout Day 5 this morning. Felt pretty good. #borninfiftynine https://youtu.be/Viax8juxeFY?feature=shared A-Jay
  19. I think @Bluebasser86 lives a couple of hours north east of Wichita. He seems to get a few now and then. A-Jay
  20. I agree with this guy ~ Still a tough pill to swallow. A-Jay
  21. Do you too ever reach a state where you're happy to simply be on the water ? Simple answer for me is yes, but the feeling doesn't last nearly as long as it used to. I think one needs to decide if they are a boater or an angler. That might help tip the scales one way or the other. @ol'crickety I can relate to and respect your view on the matter. But I have a simple test for you. Go Fishing at your regular most productive lake, but bring only this lure and this lure only. None of the stuff that nets you 80 bass a trip. Then follow up here with your results. I am thinking that after blanking with Homer for several hours at a time, you might feel less "happy to simply be on the water." I know I certainly would. My point is, Bassheads want to catch bass, and boaters just float round. A-Jay
  22. Update 03 Aug ~ The whirl wind continues. This was Lynn at Henry Ford on 16 July in the throws of scary renal failure and insane water retention. This was yesterday 02 Aug - 60 lbs later. Doesn't seem real. Currently going to 4 hour Dialysis 3 days a week, Chemo once every 2 weeks and a completely new diet. We're working on making this the new normal. It's just what we do. Thanks for the support. A-Jay
  23. Nice fish. You're SO close to your goal. Bet you can almost taste it. Especially considering how many you've raised. Just starting posting pics of fish from a few years ago. We're old and won't know the difference. Better be wearing the Bomber hat for a distraction though. Stay safe and good luck. 😀 A-Jay
  24. Glad to see you out on the water again. Nice Bass. Hope your shoulder continues to mend. A-Jay
  25. With the shallow water brown bass bite just around the corner, I went all in on the SK Hybrid Hunter Jr. and Shallow. Looking forward to seeing if the hype is real. Baits seem like the right size and if I can get them far enough away from the Lund, I may have another breezy day option. We'll find out. A-Jay
