The 7” Senko
South of the border, a 7 inch Senko is KING. And we are talking very respectable sized bass, but dinks will totally eat them too. Carolina Rigged, Texas Rigged, Wacky Rigged (with or without weight) and my personal favorite, as a Jig Trailer. The super soft bait is a real bite getter but is NOT Durable at all and is often a one fish & done bait. For that reason alone, we switch to the Giant TRD as soon as it became available. It's a little shorter and even fatter, and still gets all the bites. But, One bag of this one lasts Hundreds of bass, regardless of how it's rigged. If I have an endless free supply I'd fish the Senko. However living in the real world that Giant TRD makes more sense for me. A-Jay

Current rod and reel grouping
Hey Steve ~ I end up going fairly long periods without being able to use any of my gear. So when the time comes, I use it all ! Casting reels are Shimano and Quantum mounted on St Croix, Quantum & Alpha Sticks. Spinning reels are Shimano & Diawa sitting under Shimano, Diawa, St Croix, Quantum & Fenwick blanks. A-Jay

Consider not slaloming through the stump field at high speed. You should be good. Congrats again on the new rig btw. A-Jay

Red jerk baits
Spawn killer produces for me but both clown and perch are better. And cheaper. A-Jay

WOW.
First, if this was an actual event, not saying ya or na, just glad no one was injured. Interestingly, before jack plates were a thing, hitting a solid deal on plane with the lower unit, usually torn of a chunk of the transom off and the motor sunk to the bottom. Drivers and passengers alike were hurt from being slammed into the boats dash when the boat came to an expected and almost complete stop. Or even thrown overboard during the collision. Depending on hull floatation, the vessel usually filled to the gunwales but might not sink completely. Finally, I watched the 'leash installation' video on the company website. The "Leash" mounting brackets are designed to be secured to the bolts that mount the motor to the jackplate. Aren't these the bolts that fail under impact, and allow the motor to get up in the boat in the first place. What am I missing ? A-Jay

Working to Stay Lean ~
Total Body 1 this morning. However, I changed up my routine somewhat. Intent to prioritize some areas while giving others a bit of a break. Copy of the routine is at the beginning of this clip. After plenty of warm up, still doing 3 working sets of each movement. Showing one here. #borninfiftynine A-Jay

O.H Ivie Giant
Jason Conn got a 17.3 lb bass this week while 'guiding' two clients. Heck of a fish but the video looks like he may have snagged it in the side with an A-Rig. Don't hate the messenger. https://fb.watch/iJgZFd58yQ/ A-Jay

New Tatula spinning reel.
Out of the several reels I've purchased from TW over the years, I received a couple of Shimano reels (TranX & a Calcutta D) where the 'Factory seal' was either missing from the box or replaced with a piece of transparent tape. A "NEW REEL" comes from the factory in a sealed unopened box which is packed properly at the factory and shipped directly to me. There is never a need for a vendor to open it. Purchase enough reels and you know exactly what I'm talking about. Receiving Anything else indicates I'm getting 'something else' and that's not what I'm paying for. Each time I returned it with a note stating the above and it was promptly replaced with what I should have received in the first place. No demo's, no Blems and no returns. Cut me a discount and we'll talk, otherwise don't smooze me. A-Jay

Boating safety idea.
It almost always takes 'some amount' of significant loss of life that indicates self-regulation isn't working and insurance companies have to pay for it before there's a change or action is taken. Then there is often some type of 'regulation' that makes what everyone is currently doing 'illegal'. Which can let the insurance companies off the hook. Seems they don't actually care if we kill ourselves or each other, they just don't want to have to pay for it. During the course of my life time examples are but may not be limited to; Seat Belts, Motor Cycle, ATV, Snow machine Helmets, and the list of 'required' boating safety equipment, including Life Jackets / Throwable devices. Not saying any of this is good or bad. Just saying. A-Jay

Sonar, can we live without it ???
Problem in water that gets pressured, so is everyone else. Finding that same stuff in 20-30 ft is an art. Or at least it used to be. Now just requires seat time and a willingness to burn gas. Payoff can be decent. A-Jay

UFOs

Boating safety idea.
Boater Safety classes can be very helpful; mandatory or not. The content can be very useful for ANYONE who uses public water ways. However, what you may learn most is how so many boaters either ignore, don't know the information or just plain don't care. So 'learning' to recognize the ones that do from the ones who don't, especially at a distance, can be very helpful when operating a manually propelled vessel. So there's that. Stay Safe A-Jay
