  1. Oh Yes ~ We are totally color coded. There simply must be a method to the Madness . . . A-Jay
  2. Rage Bug on a Swinghead has been very very good to me. Especially in the fall. A-Jay
  3. Not exactly sure why, but I've always really liked training on Sunday mornings. Knocked out Total Body 2 and it went well. #borninfiftynine A-Jay
  4. I throw swimbaits south of the border for Mexican Freak Bass. Started out with a Calcutta 300D which was very good. However once the Tranx 300 came out, I went that way, and I've been very happy. A-Jay
  5. Been running a GoPro in my canoe for a while and I really like it. Besides killer video, the Pics are super easy to get and so next level compared to any selfie. @MN Fisher advice above is spot on. A-Jay
  6. Nicely Done It was only a matter of time. Congrats A-Jay
  7. LOL - There's usually at least a little truth in jest ~ And you're not that far off my friend. On both accounts. I will admit that 'for most of us', retirement puts us that much closer to the finish line. So get whatever it is while you can ! A-Jay
  8. Pre-Trip Tackle prep is a major source of fun for this Basshead. Rigging baits & leaders as well as loading & unloading baits as needed. I'll even throw pre-trip Truck, Boat, Motor & Trailer mainainance as part of this deal. Adds nicely to the hopes, dreams & anticipation of every pre-dawn adventure A-Jay
  9. Awesome Bass ! Congrats on the New Personal Best A-Jay
  10. Tank felt like cooling off in the sprinkler today ~ #tankslife A-Jay
  11. Total Body 1 this morning. This was a good one. The kind that makes me feel like I can redefine what's possible. #borninfiftynine A-Jay
  12. I have used the VMC Spin Shot drop shot hook with some success although it's not my favorite. Line twist when drop shotting for me mostly happens if and when I do not rig whatever plastic I use DEAD ON STRAIGHT. If it spins at all, even on the fall, it will totally twist up my leader and even my main line eventually. So I always make sure boat side after I rig and check for spin. I've even had drop shot weights that spun. I am a NO SPIN guy now. A-Jay
  13. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ I have both the Tatula & the Vanford in 3000 Both very nice and IMO you can't go wrong with either one. Especially given how you plan on using them. I will add that I recently picked up a Shimano Stradic FL ( also in 3000 size which is my preference) and I Really like it - as much or perhaps even more than the other two. Decent price point in the states too. Good Luck A-Jay
  14. I have a couple ~ The 7'1" MF spinning and the 7'1" MHF casting. Both nice sticks, super light and definitely "fast" I might even call them fast plus. My first fish on the casting rod was decent. https://youtu.be/zIqCmH_52IQ?t=387 A-Jay
  15. Perhaps someone who didn't feel that it was in fact 'The most technologically advanced rod on the water'. A-Jay
  16. This could be one reason . . . btw - I agree with you on watching guys stare at a sonar and fish vertically. Can't watch it. A-Jay
  17. Nope. Thankfully, that sort of deal doesn't happen much here. However when it does, our dogs are trained (and heavily rewarded) to 'greet' those folks at the full length glass window adjacent to the front door. Poor buggers don't usually stay very long and rarely do we get a second calling. Every once in a while, we'll get a human on the stoop who is willing wait us out and I'm always very gracious when informing them that 'we're not interested'. J/K (sort of) A-Jay
  18. Sorry to hear this. You both are in our thoughts. A-Jay
  19. Ah yes, the age old problem - fishing super deep. So hard to do effectively, and so few baits and or techniques will do it well. In fact I'm willing to say it's the shortest list in bass fishing. Not too many tournaments won at the 40 ft depth. Can a vibrating jig do that ? Maybe but IME, you're not going to be able to keep it moving AND Keep it on the bottom. Just not designed to do it - just look at it, the blade pretty much forces the bait to move up. Hard enough to fish it in on the bottom in 15 ft feet let alone 40 ft. I'd say you're fighting a losing battle. A single bladed spinner bait is an option, but it will need to be at least an ounce to start. Even a dense swimbait needs to be stopped or paused to re-establish bottom contact. At these depths, most anything you throw in more than 30 feet will as well. How about vertical jigging with a big spoon ? A-Jay
  20. I had to read this one twice ~ ? A-Jay
  21. I agree with @Mobasser in that I bet that sticky mess was left behind when some type of tape was removed. I was also going to suggest just about everything previously noted here already including dish soap and Goo Gone. If it can't be removed or perhaps you don't want to even bother, another other option may be to simply cover it with a grip saver. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Accu_Cull_X_Grip_Saver/descpage-ACGSV.html A-Jay
  22. Swimbaits on a jighead (up to 1/2 oz) for brown bass in mostly open water happens on M/F spinning gear for me. Light braid & leader is my go to. Throw in more soft cover and or jigheads over 1/2 oz, I like casting gear. https://youtu.be/02fPoZHOri8?t=1007 A-Jay
  23. Nicely Done. Tatsu is my FC of Choice on every rig where I use FC. btw, InvisX is pretty close in most all respects. A-Jay
