  5. Enjoyed my scheduled day off on Thursday (went fishing) plus an extra 'active rest day' on Friday (insert yardwork). Back at it this morning with Total Body 1. My performance in the vertical leg press is steadily improving. Hoping that continues. #borninfiftynine A-Jay
  6. I'd say that the straight short wire loop connection is probably strong vs even a quality clip. I fish baits that have both and have never had a failure of either. That said, unless I'm targeting something bigger & meaner than a green or brown bass, like big redfish for example, I'm good with either. A-Jay
  7. Just got another one ~ This one was done in by The Gopher Hawk ~ Somewhat different trap design but still mostly effective. Fresh tunnels are the secret sauce. My dog will often help point them out. A-Jay
  8. Congrats ! A-Jay

  11. Been doing battle with moles for many years. In the beginning I tried a variety of 'methods'. Failed miserably. Finally went for this deal. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XTVMF4H/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1#customerReviews Only thing that works for me. I have 5 traps and they have accounted for well over 100 kills in the past few years. Some days it's pretty ugly (in a good way). I know I will never eliminate them but controlling them a bit helps my sanity & my lawn. Some tips to make the most effective use of these traps: Move them often. I usually moved the traps at least once a day (if not twice) while walking a dog. Place the traps on the newest and most active feeding tunnel. I usually scouted the whole property before determining where to place them. Smash down all the other tunnels you are not actively trapping so you can track new activity. If the activity looks like tree branches then place the trap in one of the forks of the branch. Moles often go back and forth so they don't have to dig new tunnels. Wear a clean disposable glove when touching the trap. If you touch a trap with your bare hand or your dog touched it then spray it down with scent killing spray like that used for deer hunting. Moles can smell everything. Don't go chasing volcanoes. While they are enticing, the holes are vertical and the moles rarely get close to the top. I did get one right next to a volcano but there were many, many other attempts that were futile. Patience and persistence. It was over three weeks before I caught my first mole and many periods where it was nearly a month between catches. It is also frustrating when you get a mole and then a new one moves in. Currently most of the moles are gone so mostly I check the perimeters for any new activity. More traps and more movement will result in faster results. I started with two traps and couldn't keep up. I bought three more and started making progress. Keep in mind that I moved them once or twice a day. It's a war ! Good Luck A-Jay
  12. YES ~ ! And I immediately lose all respect for any bass foolish enough to take a poke at old 4 eyes. A-Jay
  13. So I guess I'm doing right then. A-Jay
  14. The Silver Buddy is one I actually carry and regularly catch fish on. I break out the Mann's 1 minus & Fred Arbogast Mud Bug when I'm feeling nostalgic. I can't find my pink Rattle Trap, but I'll keep looking. A-Jay
  15. I have two (3000) they are super sweet reels. REALLY wish I had purchased a 3 or 4 more when they were available. They match very nicely with the AGS rods . . . A-Jay

  25. Right off, the title of this one, "When Pros Write books, it seems they make info fit how they fish;)" in my mind it's pretty much how every bass fishing book I've ever read is written. Most every thread & even the responses here seem to be presented that way. Clearly all of my own posts are for sure. It's what we know & have confidence in. Positive & or negative results drive that train right to the very end of the tracks. Probably always will. As for spinnerbaits high & fast, I am quite familiar with that deal and a Huge fan. In part because of KVD's writings & videos. Mostly for brown bass, because it works for me here. Posted about it a few years back. https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/180370-fishing-in-the-fast-lane/ Green bass is a different story and I've caught very respectable fish in 2 ft down to 25 feet on a slow rolled big bladed spinner bait. In fact, my first DD fish came from 25 feet on a 1 oz thumper with a sluggo trailer. She was a Mexican resident. Either way, fast spinnerbait fish are fun, the strikes a vicious and it can be super addicting. Late summer & early fall is prime time for me on this deal and that's just a few weeks away. Very exciting. https://youtu.be/Z95g3H4qmp0?t=84 A-Jay
