  1. One of the most important factors in bass fishing, whether you are a beginner, novice, or even a tournament contender, is using the right equipment for your baits and tactics. For most plus size bass, your gear is probably too light and not capable of landing what you've described, where you described it. Consider kicking it up a notch ~ Read more here . . . https://www.bassresource.com/fishing/equipment.html Fish Hard A-Jay

  8. I hear you and I get it. Making a great presentation and then being able to 'feel' the strike of that potential New Personal best bass is alluring for sure. However for me, the repeated unexplained & untimely line failures trump that. btw - I went through the same thing a couple of different times. Started with FC when it first came out. And then again with braid & leaders, just like you've explained here. Ended up going back to a quality FC and haven't looked back. Still use braid & leader on spinning gear, quite successfully I might add. However I rarely place much 'pressure' on the tackle like I have a tendency to do with casting gear. So the mysterious line failures are a rarity. Good Luck FishHard A-Jay
  9. You'll get here eventually . . . A-Jay
  10. Perhaps consider using a FC mainline and ditch the braid. What do you have to lose ? Except perhaps more bass. I recommend Seaguar InvisX & Tatsu - 15 or 17 should do you just fine. Fish Hard A-Jay
  11. I'll chuck a Pop Max around in warm(er) mostly calm deals when I'm 'targeting' light cover or less. Lower light levels can help at times, but it may not be mandatory. Was working this one through a couple of feet of open water over isolated weed clumps in 8 feet ~ Boom. Fish Hard A-Jay
  12. Agreed ~ I forgot to mention that I do this as well. If the spool is getting 'a little low' I will spin it off and add a little more backing. I should mention that I never use 'shallow' spools #hatethem Fish Hard A-Jay
  13. The braid on my spinning gear (Sufix & Seaguar) last 'several' seasons. I'll replace it every 3 years or so, although it's usually still in pretty good shade. InvisX & Tatsu on my casting gear has been quite hearty and I usually don't wear it out. It does get replaced once or twice a season depending on use. However it's usually because the spool is getting short from re-tying, which effects casting distance. Finally, I carry 'extra' spools for quick, on the water, replacement should the need arise. YMMV Fish Hard A-Jay
  14. Thank you very much @schplurg ~ I really appreciate at it. I have to prep and think about all of it well in advance just to get any footage that's even remotely usable. But in the end Content is King - Big Bass make us all look good. Fish Hard A-Jay

  16. While I am very thankful for every fishing opportunity I get, I definitely would not be opposed to going back to Oct 2018 and doing this ALL OVER AGAIN ~ ! 6 ½ days (approx. 65 hours) for two guys fishing on Lake Baccarac: Over 7lbs ~ 20 Over 8lbs ~ 16 Over 9lbs ~ 11 Over 10 lbs ~ 4 Over 11 lbs ~ 1 Over 12 lbs ~ 1 Fish Hard A-Jay
  17. What's really a good time is maneuvering a rig alongside one of those deals and then having someone jump on board it to shut it down. Talk about bumper boats and a wet & wild ride . . . . Oh yea, and pretty freaking dangerous as well. When that wasn't an option, we'd trail a floating line behind us run it in front of the runways rig and foul the boats prop to end the insanity. Usually took a few tries. Please use a kill switch A-Jay
  18. While I will get out with my wife a few times a season and I do Love That, I fish by myself the vast majority of the time. However with a least one Go Pro recording most every second I'm on the water, I never really 'feel' alone . . . . Fish Hard A-Jay

Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ A-Jay
  20. Past 5 seasons, this Frabil Conservation Series unit has scooped up a few respectable brown bass for me. As well as some plus size 'other species' type creatures. It's light, sturdy, very maneuverable & extendable; although I rarely use that aspect of it. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003JSLWLQ/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Fish Hard A-Jay
  21. I use 'scent' - religiously in fact. Megastrike ~ all day every day. I have used Powerbait with some success. The Maxscent flat worm has been Very Good for me (drop shot) Has it Changed my mind about scent ? Not really. However, if Maxscent was available as an external add on, perhaps something similar to Megastrike, I'm pretty sure I'd stand in a fairly long line to get some. YMMV Fish Hard A-Jay
  22. With this early June Smoking Hot forecast, I'm bringing this one back ~ Stay Safe out there ~ ? A-Jay
