  1. I've been eye-balling this one since it came out. A-Jay
  2. One thing no one ever talks about being an adult is just how much time you debate yourself on keeping a cardboard box because it's, like, a really good box. A-Jay
  3. We call that The Rule Of Gross Tonnage. Always trumphs who might actually have the right of way. A-Jay
  4. Nicely Done. This is one of my favorite fall presentation for the local brown bass population. While a Blade bait works, a rattlebait is often better for me at attracting bigger fish. RES 2 Tap and a Duo Realis G-Fix lippless bait do well. Finally, south of the border, that 3/4 oz RES is like magic fished deep. Got my PB with a Sexy Shad. A-Jay
  5. While the Duo Realis Pencil is super easy to walk, and does get bites for me, the 2 treble deal was missing some fish. So I haven't thrown that one in a while. The Paycheck Baits Repo Man was my favorite - and did account for several Plus sized Brown Bass. However, my last one was taken from me by a toothy beast. Very Sad. The Reaction Innovations Vixen seems like a suitable replacement, but for whatever reason, I haven't been able to reproduce the Repo man magic with it. The Strike King Sexy Dawg and the new Hard Knock have both produced for me and are the ones I throw mostly now. A-Jay
  6. My New Favorite Term ~ Pretty sure I've been there a time or two my dern self. A-Jay
  7. Side by side is for close quarters and calmer water. Used to navigate narrow channels as well as to and from the dock. In rough water the bigger rig would beat the heck out of the smaller one. With a single boat towing a larger one along side, the further after the tow boat is, the more control it will have during the tow. It can act as the disabled vessels propulsion although steerage in a big wind can get a little sketchy. Which is why you'll often see a tug fore and after. As for long tows at sea, seems simple but is really a complicated deal, especially with big tonnage. The long scope of a tow line acts as a shock absorber and when set at the right length puts the two vessels 'in step'. Meaning they are both going up and down a wave at the same time. Tricky deal, especially at night. It's always slow going but having your tow fall off the back of a 20 or 30 ft wave while your going up one can part a towline fast. A towed vessel that races down a big wave can be just undesirable and can lead to a capsize or broach. Both are bad. I have done my share of towing. Calm days it's tricky still, rough and at night, it's pretty freaking hairy. Some cases the hardest part is just getting a messenger line on the disabled ship so they can pull the tow line aboard. It's not like you can just pull up and hand it to them. We had a special 30 caliber line throwing gun we used to blast the line from our ship to theirs. Whenever that deal made it's appearance, it was going to be a long few days at sea. All of this was in advance of Sea Tow hitting the scene, before which your tax dollars got you a free tow from the Coast Guard. On summer weekends in New England, I would be dragging in recreational rigs all day and half the night. Often 2 or 3 at a time. Something they don't actually teach. Free tows are gone and the search and rescue teams only respond to immediate distress leaving the commercial salvage (towing) to the private sector. A-Jay
  8. Depending on what type & size line used, the 200B might run into a capacity shortage. The 400B might be a better choice in that regard. It's beefy and able to do anything in the freshwater from bass to musky and pike to giant catfish, as well as light to medium saltwater applications. A-Jay
  9. Hello Yev and welcome to Bass Resource ~ A-Jay
  10. Good Luck Sir ~ A-Jay
  11. I do not fish derbies and have no info on this one. A-Jay
  12. @Tennessee Boy - ^^^ beat me to it ~ Check out the Fish Smart App https://www.humminbird.com/learn/fishsmart-app Contour Elite is no longer in production or supported. I have it and it was decent at the time but the App is better IMO. A-Jay
  13. Thank You Sir ~ In the central Sierra Madre mountain system of Mexico Connection to the Interwebs is spotty at best. However it's been getting better recently. We'll certainly do what we can to keep folks up to date. Fortunately Big Fish Jeff is pretty good with it. Me, not so much A-Jay
  14. Big Fish Jeff and I fly commercial to DFW on the 13th - and stay overnight. He's coming from Memphis. That allows our luggage to catch up to us if they 'send it' somewhere else. Then at first light on the 14th, we jump aboard a charter aircraft and fly directly to the lodge. Get there @ noon. After getting settled in, rigged up and stuffing down a quick lunch, (and I do mean quick!) we get in an afternoon to sunset session that day. Got 5 full days of fishing after that. 9 Days and a wake up ~ Did I mention I've been packed for 5 months . . . A-Jay
  15. Do It ! And it's pretty easy. I'm a knucklehead and somehow I stumble my way through it. You'll be golden. A-Jay
  16. Wow - That hardly ever works. Jk Nicely Done. Congrats. A-Jay #getagopro
  17. T Minus 10 Days and a Wake Up ~ ! A-Jay
  18. Yes. I've had a 6.2L in the last few rigs including the Denali I'm running now. They've all been good to me. A-Jay
  19. Managed a few Brown Bass today. Most of them were in the fun size category A-Jay
  20. 12 Days and a wake up. A-Jay
