  1. When the bottom composition & cover allows, cranking a swinghead along or on the bottom can be fairly productive. It's certainly a lot less work. A-Jay

Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ A-Jay
  3. I fish the 3/8 and the 1/2 head the most. Rarely go heavier. I do not prefer a swimbait or action type trailers on a scrounger head. The head has plenty of inherent action on it's own, so I just want the trailer to take a ride & benefit / transmit some of it. The swim Senko is about as close as I come. Here's a few favorite trailers I fish these almost exclusively right on the bottom. Rarely a constant retrieve. A slow pump up off the bottom, lifting the bait only a foot or less and then letting the bait fall back on a semi-tight line is BY FAR The Most productive presentation for me. Sometimes it's crazy good. When the head weight and trailer are matched properly, the bait will wiggle & swim back to the bottom. The Long bill works best for me for this and the trailers can not be too big or they will numb the fall back action too much. Kills the Magic. I always check it boat side for the proper fall. Also the 'bills' can get twisted on the head which will jack up the action but they can easily be hand 'tuned' by just twisting the bill back in line with the line tie. Like any deal it needs to be 'straight'. A-Jay
  4. While I haven't fished every scrounger head on the market, I've fished several. Most of them are 'OK'. However my choice for performance & quality is right here https://jenkofishing.com/products/tn-river-tackles-tremor-head-with-long-bill all the others were something less - in every respect. A-Jay
  5. @slimjim1135 I have older model Escape rods. A version that unfortunately G Loomis no longer produces. They are heavier actions than what is available new now and they where a little less $$ as well. But I Love Them (and would buy a coupe more if they offered a Heavy action) These are a fiber blend blank that is very forgiving yet plenty stout when needed. I've used them to land several Double Digit green bass in Mexico. As for are they worth it - that's a personal choice. The Fenwicks were quite a bit less $$ and still do the job. However my Method sticks are long blanks and the Escapes are shorter, which is more my style - so I lean that way. A-Jay
  6. Yup ~ I'm a double digit midget. A-Jay
  7. Grew up fishing much of northern New England include Lake Winnipesaukee. cut my brown bass fishing teeth there some 45 years ago. Have been there in a minute but this is some applicable drop shot info John . . . . A-Jay
  8. Yes. Started several months back and apparantly continues. After my last order in April of all in stock items, took 5 weeks to arrive, I successfully utilized other vendors who are capable of much shorter and reasonable order processing / shipping times. Amazon and EBay to name two. A-Jay
  9. Nicely Done ~ Congrats A-Jay
  10. Perhaps not totally giving up on them, (sheer stubborn) but I'm getting very close Glide Baits ~ I just don't get it. A-Jay

  12. Right at the ferrule joining the top section with the middle section. Every one. A-Jay
  13. You're welcome Roger. I am a St Croix fan and still use several full length blank sticks. I was surprised when the first couple failed and replaced them under warranty; which St Croix did painlessly. However they all eventually blew up. I traded them all in for LTB sticks, so that was decent. A-Jay
  14. I had several M, MH and H St Croix Tidemaster travel casting rods. They all suffered blank failure on hooksets. Replaced them with G Loomis Escape travel rods. They have been great. I also have and use Fenwick Methods travel rods. They have been very good as well. A-Jay

  18. Thanks for the kind words, I certainly appreciate it. Glad to hear the videos were at least a little helpful. Your rig's Pic looks pretty close to mine rig as far as how it sits. I forgot to add that when I re-powered I added a 6 inch manual jack plate - didn't make a ton of different in the take off & ride but it does 'change it some'; for the better. It's pretty tricky trying to help you resolve this at my keyboard. My advice is, rather than beating your head again the wall trying resolve the issue yourself, take your rig to your dealer, have them run it and then fix it. In the long run it may save you a ton of time, $$ & head ache. A-Jay
  19. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ I have the same boat, talons, one less battery and with a different motor, which is mounted in the second hole from the top. Not certain the 1 inch difference between holes matters all that much. Almost sounds like the trim is all the way up at take off, rather than down. Perhaps look at how your rig sits in the water at the dock from the side. It can help give you an idea of how the gear in your rig is distributed. If you're very stern heavy at rest, it can affect how quickly a rig gets on plane; especially once you start to add heavy humans. Also at a super slow speed, like just clutch ahead, my rig wonders a bit as well. Product of the IPS2 hull design I figure. Either way, my rig 'pops' up on plane in short order and honestly, I carry A LOT of gear. A-Jay
  20. Big Slasher Fan right here ~ A-Jay
  21. Nope. I use both. As for spinning reels just not being fun anymore, we must have different ideas as to what fun is. Because this . . . is tons of fun ~ A-Jay
  22. On average, yes. Before I had the new bunks, by late summer, some lakes I could not launch at because I couldn't get my rig in water deep enough to get the boat off the trailer without drowning my truck. Not a problem now as the boat 'slides' on & off easily. Clearly lake levels vary, dock position changes yearly, ramps silt in and get shallow. I can often do better by not using the dock at all and going for the wet -foot sling shot launch. (Hip boots very early & late season). Only a couple of the places I like to frequent have anything close to a 'steep' ramp, with 'float it off the trailer' type depths. So most of it looks like what's in the video. Either way, I'm either pull the boat onto to the trailer by hand or going in 'clutch', like I did here. Not complaining though. A-Jay

  24. I got Ya ~ We use what work for us. You know I'm all about that. Looking forward to seeing some of your chatterbait fatties. Stay Safe A-Jay
  25. Thanks ~ I've been looking at the different types of 'steps' for a while. They do seem very good. But so far, it's still 'just looking'. A-Jay
