  2. Thanks ~ No problems with the guides for me. As you mentioned, I think I handle my gear in what I'd consider a reasonable manner. You have to know the tackle gets 'fished', just doesn't get beat on. How the gear is stored and transported can also determine the user experience. Mishandling might be an important but often omitted aspect of those 'reviews'. btw - I love those guides. A-Jay

Can't speak for all the services but in the US Coast Guard the chow is pretty decent. Depends on the unit, small shore units that have access to fresh everything every day are usually quite awesome where as, what gets served on the mess deck of a big ship or coastal cutter a couple of hundred miles off shore for a month or two, might seems a little more cafeteria like; just because of the sheer volume being served and the lack of being able to go 'shopping' at seas. Either way, I almost always ate well. A-Jay I can follow a recipe fairly easily, just seems to lack the bakers touch. I'd rather put fire to meat. A-Jay

Me too. Except I'm not a big baker; no cakes, pies or deserts. My wife handles that area. A-Jay
  7. "As we near the summer season, tens of millions of Americans will take to our Nation’s waters to spend time with family and friends. As we enjoy our activities on the water, we must act responsibly to follow safety procedures when boating. During National Safe Boating Week, the Coast Guard urge all Americans to familiarize themselves with the best practices for a safe boating experience. It is recommended that you always wear a U.S. Coast Guard approved Life Jacket appropriate to your water activity. Take a boating safety course. File a float plan with someone you trust. Have a reliable means of communication for your area. Alcohol is the leading contributing factor in fatal boating accidents so it is recommended that you don’t drink and boat." https://uscgboating.org/multimedia/news-detail.php?id=532 https://safeboatingcampaign.com/ https://boatingindustry.com/news/2020/05/14/national-safe-boating-week-carries-extra-message-for-2020/ Let's Stay Safe Out There Folks . . 10. Whatever does or does not go in the boat only benefits me on the water. I prescribe to the mantra "Always Ready". Very hard to accomplish really but it starts with the tools. Plus, Pro-V Bass swallows my gear up and the ProXS totes it along with little effort. To answer your question Yes A-Jay
  11. Early and late season it sort of seems like it. Come around January though I have to remind myself of what can happen in May and August A-Jay

  13. Reading many of these responses regarding 'pressured waters' makes me really appreciate what I have available. I came across this excerpt from the MI DNR recently. Sums it up. The state’s Fishing Tournament Information System, a mandatory reporting process prescribed for tournaments conducted on state waters, shows more than 2,200 bass tournaments were held on 298 bodies of water in 2019. In addition, more than 90 walleye tournaments were conducted on 34 fisheries. "We operate 1,300 boat launches around the state and have about 300 sites that host a tournament,” said program coordinator and fisheries biologist Tom Goniea. “That means 2/3 of our sites don’t see a tournament all year.” 95% of that occurs on waters three full hours south of me. The winters are long, snowy and often brutally cold. I have to believe that plays a role. The question may be "Is It Worth It ?" I go when I can & I appreciate every minute of it. (Last Week) A-Jay

Nicely Done ~ It will be a while before I see any top water action. Btw, I do understand how tricky it can be to get a decent fish pic fishing by yourself, but if you're releasing these fish, rolling them around in the dirt beforehand might not contribute favorably to their survival. Just saying. A-Jay
