Tracker Pro Team 175 TXW vs Crestliner VT 17 vs Lowe Stinger 175
Although there's not much I don't like about it - trolling for trout/salmon while do-able, might be more work than fun. (unless you rigged it right - I don't do it so mine clearly is not). Also J - Get something Crazy Good - you deserve it and you ain't getting any younger man . . . A-Jay

When we get April snow (like today), it does seem to make the winter feel extra-long. However the time off the water, when used constructively, does have its benefits. #noexcuses A-Jay

Sub zero 2017-2018
And they updated my forecast for tomorrow ~ The hits just keep on coming . . . 343 PM EDT Mon Apr 2 2018 ...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM TUESDAY TO 8 AM EDT WEDNESDAY... * WHAT...Heavy, mainly wet snow. Total snow accumulations of 8 to 14 inches are expected. * WHERE...Most of Northern Lower Michigan. * WHEN...From 8 AM Tuesday to 8 AM EDT Wednesday. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Travel will be very difficult to impossible at times, especially during the evening commute on Tuesday. Wind gusts of 30 to 35 mph, mainly Tuesday night, will result in some areas of blowing snow. Also, there is a possibility for downed power lines causing sporadic power outages. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather conditions will make travel very hazardous or impossible. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Additionally someone needs to put A-Jay on a Suicide watch. A-Jay

One piece of advice for a newbie
10% of the water holds 90% of the fish. Learn where bass will be seasonally and most importantly, why they are there. A-Jay

Pattern vs. Junk fishing
I fish a lot of smallmouth bass water. It's rare that every fish in the lake is doing the same thing at the same time - I'm always trying to locate active bass in different areas. Often the depths, structure & cover are quite different, but the bass in each can still be active. While some can be (and often are) similar, each spot may require a specific approach, technique or presentation to get bit. This can & often times does change even in the same spot once a few fish are caught. There is no doubt, however, I'm a big fan of being successful while I 'run points' or 'fish wood or docks'. When it works - it's killer; doesn't always though. Some days it's more about prospecting and less about fishing. So my most productive 'pattern' is to find active bass. If that's a no-go, I usually end up fishing a jig. A-Jay
