  1. If what you're currently using works for you then you're good. I use a short (half rod length) stout mono leader. A-Jay
  2. I'd like to see some time elapsed footage of the melting . . . A-Jay
  3. Big surface baits with big trebles on long casts - I'm using braid. Mono has too much stretch for me - hook sets suffer. A-Jay
  4. Hang in there ~ It'll seem like forever but we're just about done with the back stretch now. The final turn is almost in sight . . . A-Jay
  5. That ~ is easily one of the most impressive displays I ever seen. These people take commitment to a whole different level. Thanks for sharing that WOW A-Jay
  6. This would be the 'hard to find' part. Check e-bay. A-Jay https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=Seaguar+Tatsu+Fluorocarbon+Line+20&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.XO.S.P+BLADE+JIG.TRS5&_nkw=O.S.P+BLADE+JIG&_sacat=0
  7. Not to be a Hi-Jacker but . . . The best way to describe it is . . . It's like working a jerkbait Right On The Bottom. Long cast. Baits on the bottom. Two reel handles - stop. wait 2 seconds - Two reel handle - stop. Wait two seconds - two reel handles stop. Fish usually grab it as soon as it stops. Really seems they like to chase it a while and then when they've had enough of that - they Choke it. Below is a clip - I was using no skirt and just the head with a Rage Bug - A-Jay
  8. Yea - if you're not sick of looking at me holding brown tanks at this point - you're in worse shape than me . . A-Jay
  9. Don't tell anyone but I SLAMMED smallies on this last fall - and I mean Slammed. A-Jay
  10. And while we're on the subject of swing heads - The Freedom Lure Stealth Swing jig really EXCELS for this constant dragging on the bottom presentation. Comes over, under and through most anything and allows for a Tex-posed trailer. That 'on the nose' line tie is sweet and I love being able to change/match my hook to whatever trailer or situation I need. A-Jay http://www.freedomlures.com/stealth.html

Hello Dan and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ A-Jay
  12. OK - So I use a similar presentation - My deal is almost always clear deep water, so I'm making a decent cast, length wise. It ends up being a balancing act between the rod & the line that centers around sensitivity, hook setting & fish fishing. The other part of the equation that I can't over look is the size/gauge wire of the jig hook. Super heavy every where doesn't seem to work well for me; neither does going on the 'light' side. Boils down to this - the big smallies I'm targeting with this presentation Are Tough - so a stout system seems to be what works best for me. A 7'1" or 7'3" MHF stick seems to be the sweet spot. There's a couple in the ST Croix LTB line in those action / lengths that I like a lot. And I'm usually spooled with 17lb fluorocarbon here. Hope that helps. A-Jay
  13. Really enjoyed this first one of the year - A-Jay
  14. Tak just nailed a good one on a spinnerbait - Might have just wrapped this one up A-Jay
  15. We all need a hug at some point ~ A-Jay
  16. I fish lippless baits quite a bit; especially early & late season. I 'voted' Medium Heavy/Moderate for both categories. However there's 2 factors that I have to add. 1. I fish glass/ graphite composite stick almost exclusively for lippless baits. 2. I'll use fluorocarbon in less cover and braid mainline in grass. A-Jay

  18. We'll know in the first hour - if Tak-O can't make it happen, he might be hosed as he's not been able to put much of anything else together after he leaves "The Magic Mudhole". Going to be interestesting . . . A-Jay
  19. There may be a similar number of pro's & con's with both lines. Ever consider adding a length of the fluorocarbon to the braid mainline ? Might be the best (or worst) of both worlds. A-Jay
  20. Yes ~ I most certainly did. A-Jay
