  1. The ONLY thing I'll EVER even consider passing through the "Devil's Palomar Loop" is a single hook; maybe a jig or a spinnerbait but that's about it. Cranks, Jerkbaits, topwater - just about anything with trebles turns into a tangled jack wagon about half way into it - so that's pretty much out for me too. A-Jay
  2. Quad Pro is my charger of choice. Effective, fast, so far durable, quality unit. A-Jay
  3. Merry Christmas to you as well my friend. And the revamped forecast for us is 5-8 tonight, 5-8 tomorrow, and 5-8 tomorrow night. So 5's & 8's are Wild in this hand . . . . Santa's Golden round these parts . . . Planning on a Christmas Day Dog Sled run at some point . . . . I do like those quite a bit. A-Jay
  4. The Black 'Dot' - yea that'd be me . . . . . A-Jay
  5. I'd watch that. A-Jay
  6. Not when you fish it 'under the rod' and reel it backasswards ~ Also makes casting a real adventure. A-Jay
  7. Admittedly not an A-Rig expert by any means - I use different heads - usually targeting Smallmouth. For deeper applications I like the VMC Flat Shad Jig Head - And for shallower deals I like the VMC Boxer Jig Head ~ Both feature a Premium 1X strong needle point hook and fit the swimbaits I use nicely. 8. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ A-Jay
  9. Yes - Braid was tailor made to topwater . . . . Allows for long casts & rock solid hooksets . . . A-Jay
  10. Solemn. A-Jay
  11. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Nice Intro A-Jay
  12. When braid First hit the scene - yup back then, I was a surf casting, rock climping, jetty jocky chasing striped bass up & down the east coast. Spent waaay too many nights with cold hands & buring eyes from the salt water (man do I miss that) - learned the uni- to - uni. Used it, trusted it and can tie it in my sleep - literally. It has never let me down, unless I jacked up the knot myself or hooked a U-Boat determined to get to the horizon. Still use it today & don't have any plans on changing. Out of pure curiosity, I started watching that PR knot demo and right about the time that dude began loading & then spinning that bobbing deal all over the place - my right eye started to twitch and my brain locked up . . . . Needed a shot of pre-Christmas cheer just to snap me out of it - that was close (and tasty) So I guess if bass suddenly turn into mutant tarpon, I might be inclined to try that. Until then I'll stick with a Golden Oldie. A-Jay
  13. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ A-Jay
  14. Happy & Safe Holidays to you & yours Mike. A-Jay
  15. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Congrats on the New Rig ! A-Jay
  16. SK just gave it a name. A-Jay
  17. Seems to be 'the way it is' in my neck of the woods as well. In fact, now that there is all season C & R for Bass here - Early season, I'm launching in any open water I can find. Just seems to routinely be on the North End. And wouldn't you know it, there's fish there too. With no reason to believe that they'd move once the rest of the lake opens up, I just keep fishing. A-Jay
  18. Sweet Rig ~ Congrats . . . A-Jay
  19. Once someone wins a Classic it with it, it will be "The Hot New Rig" ~ Yup, 4 plus decades later. A-Jay
  20. Initially I'd say Yes - However, by using the correct tonnage for the job, that rig is an effective option in many presentations & situations besides 'punching'. Also putting 'names' on everything can limit one's imagination. It's just a weight, a skirt , some plastic & a hook - fish it wherever . . . . . . A-Jay
  21. I'm using GoPro Hero 5 (Black & Sessions) I mount them a few different ways in canoe & on the Lund. Standard clamp mounts work as well as The Boomstick by Yolotek. Check them out they have a few options - powered and non - https://yolotek.com/ I edit with Movavi as well. No music here either. A-Jay
  22. The back half of this ride usually gets a little bumpy. Just have to ride it out. I had & have some of what you're experiencing in my life as well. We can only do what we can, but you're a Good Man and you'll take the best path for you. Believe that. Thinking of you my friend . . . . . A-Jay
  23. Nice work Sir ~ And it's sort of interesting that when some one mentions 'target casting', rarely do we think of it as hitting holes in the ICE ! Good Luck Tomorrow, and if your local regs allow - I'd be real tempted to fill a bucket with those big fat Yellow fellas. You know, for the hot fat pool . . . A-Jay
