What are the biggest problems you face while fishing?
Perhaps try a night fishing trip. You may be pleasantly surprise how few of these are on the lake in the dark of night. A-Jay

2017 SHIMANO TRANX 300 & 400
Check out the TW "Demo" Program. It's a "try before you buy" deal. You'll be able to get a good idea of what it's all about for a nominal fee. I used it when the Calcutta D Line was introduced - ended up picking up three - Love Them. I'd call TW and ask them to include the Tranx in the Demo program while the reel is in Pre-order. Just to plan the seed. Might call a few times. A-Jay Here's the details - can't post the link. Here's how our program works How much does it cost? The only costs you will incur are the UPS charges for shipping the reels to you and back to Tackle Warehouse. You can enter your zip code while you're adding demos to your shopping cart to see your shipping charges. The shipping costs range from as little as $15 for two reels to $20 for four reels (depending on distance). Note: You may demo a maximum of four (4) reels at one time. Note: Tackle Warehouse may require a $250.00 or $500.00 deposit depending on which reels are chosen and customer's order history. First time customers may only order up to two (2) demo reels with a mandatory deposit. Once the reels have been returned to Tackle Warehouse the charge will be reversed. Existing customers may demo a maximum of four (4) reels at one time. How long does it take to get the demos & how long can I keep them? It takes two days from the day we ship them for the reels to reach you. Your reels will ship the same day you order them or the following day (not counting weekends), depending on what time of day you order them. You get to keep demos for one week. If you receive them on a Monday then you have to ship them back to us the following Monday. If you receive them on Tuesday then you return them the following Tuesday, and so on. Note: Demo orders can only be shipped to the billing address for the credit card submitted with the order. How do I return the demos to Tackle Warehouse? We provide you with a preprinted UPS return label. All you have to do is seal the reels back in the box, put the return label over the original label and take the box to a UPS Customer Center or any UPS driver. You can locate the Customer Center nearest you using the UPS web site. What if I forget to return them? We want as many people as possible to have a chance to demo these reels so it's important that they're returned to us on time. If you ship them late, there is a late fee of $2.50 per reel, per day. If you're more than 7 days late and we are unable to reach you, we will charge your credit card for the full price of the reels. Will the demo reels be ready to fish when I receive them? All reels will come spooled with line and will be ready to fish the minute you receive them. Casting reels will be spooled with either 12lb or 15lb test depending on spool capacity and spinning reels with have 6lb or 8lb test line depending on reel size. How do I begin? Choose from the manufacturer links at the bottom of this page to find the reel you want to demo. Click on the desired reel link and then just follow the directions that appear on each page. You'll be able to add more demos to your order, add products you want to buy to your order, and keep track of your shipping charges. All back ordered items excluding demo reels will be placed on a separate order to ensure your demo reels are not delayed. Also remember, there is a limit of four (4) reels per demo order.

Federal waters border two or more states or countries. State only waters lie completely with the boundaries of one single state. A-Jay

Your jig trailer matters
I can relate to this as well, BUT . . . I'd encourage you to consider bumping that craw up to the Rage Lobster. Especially for Post Spawn & beyond into the warm water period. A-Jay

leader knot.
Uni to Uni Knot for me. Been using it for a long time in many different applications in both Fresh & Salt water without a problem. This includes large game fish that 'Fight & Run' and test tackle a whole lot more than a bass ever. As long as the quality of the main line & leader is good and the knot is moistened & tied correctly, you are totally good to go. btw - I use mono as leader material the vast majority of the time - I've found it to have excellent knot strength across the board. If & when I feel I "need" to use fluorocarbon line - I use a full spool of it instead of the braid & leader deal. YMMV A-Jay

Not looking to debate this one way or the other ~ Just FYI "Fortunately, action was taken by the new administration the day after the rule was issued that could hinder its effectiveness. A memorandum issued from the White House to departments and agencies announced a freeze on implementing new regulations, pending review. Still, individual jurisdictions within FWS might choose to enforce the rule." http://www.theoutdoorwire.com/story/1485302084ts5bc9g0n19 A-Jay

What Do You Eat While Fishing?
Nice Job. For a full day (or night) on the water, I always bring a sandwich or 2 of some kind. And I too, am a big Cliff bar fan. I will say that once the air temp start to drop, they get a little more challenging to chew; like frozen oatmeal. Besides that, some cheese sticks, Jack Links, and plenty of H2O .. .. .. .. .. .. .. I'm running Optima Bluetop D31M ~ No Complaints. https://www.optimabatteries.com/en-us/bluetop-dual-purpose-deep-cycle-and-starting btw - may be a good idea to ensure that your current on board charging system will meet the needs of any battery upgrade you choose to make. A-Jay

Biggest Michigan bass?
My Michigan PB is right at 7lbs caught in up here in Otsego County from a trout lake. (report link below) I really have no idea whether a 12lb plus LMB lives in any of the waters I fish regularly - I guess there could be but I haven't seen anything close to that. I'll admit that I'd be pretty excited to catch one and just as surprised. Just for a size reference - this is a only 10.7 from south of the border. This one could have eaten my best lmb last season which was a 6lb fish. A-Jay

Heading sensor
When looking for the best position for your heading sensor - what you do not want is 'interference'. A couple of ways to "find" it - One is to mount it and them go out and see if your unit works right - not the best option unless you're mounting is temporary. (think velco) Second is to fire up all your electronics & go around the boat to each "mounting" spot with a small hand held compass. (they are cheap and not a bad idea to keep on the boat afterwards anyway - as long as you know how to read & use it) Determine an accurate North direction with it before getting on board and then test each spot to see if the compass goes to spinning around. A Spinning compass needle is Bad & NO Spinning is Good. A-Jay
