I use a moly to lube everything. www.tsmoly.com don't apply too much. Don't get any on your drags. It will seem tight at first but crank the reel while watching tv it will free up and run smooth as silk.

My brother came bass fishing with me years ago when we were using mono before the new lines were developed. He had on 20lb test. We used a split shot rigged black 6" creme worm. We put the boat off a island we're the weeds disappeared anchored and casted towards the island and fished the worm very slowly back to the boat. He had a 4lber on and she went deeper into the weeds, he pulled up a large ball of weeds with the bass on the bottom of the ball. She tangled all up in the weeds trying to get away. So in the weeds your line test matters. Think on what test you want to use and go one test stronger. Failure isn't an option.

I been out of the loop for a while due to illness. Right now I'm looking to buy some baits that I know works in my area. I been using a rapala countdown jointed minnow by lowering it off a low bridge into a hole I found on the bottom. Every trip you can count on a bass being there. The color is a blue back with a chartreuse sides and bottom. It's about 5" in length. Of course it's discontinued in a split body and the two tone color isn't available. I have one. I purchased all the rapalas that sports authority had on clearance years ago. I should of purchased everything they had. My mistake. I notice Norman baits were some models are discontinued too. Now some plastic colors aren't being restocked at BPS it's been going on for decades. The amber red bps stic o worm is listed but not offered. It's a orange reddish color. It's sold out for decades because it works. I shop elsewhere now. BPS had the best topwater bait I ever used the uncle buck topnocker. The color 25 chartreuse was the hottest topwater bait I ever used. It's gone. excaliber had a bill dance crankbait in a red craw color that's hot here. I would use the deeper running one in shallower depths letting it bounce off the bottom. It worked awesome. It's gone. bomber discontinued the crankbait in FAT A too. Another great bait for over submerged weeds and topwater twitching. The redapplecraw is a killer color since the crawfish here are black backs with red sides, bottoms. my point is if you have a favorite go to bait that works buy a few. btw, I'm a color freak after reading Dr Loren Hills ten year research on bass seeing certain colors at different water conditions. I'm fishing were I know the bass population is the highest. I know where they hide. Yet some of my favorite colors in the past that I know worked, on another day they don't work. I change colors again and have success. I notice this with using scents. I'm using a orginal bass scent flavor and catching nothing. I change to a garlic and the bite is on. I'm tempted to try a salad Italian (example)dressing or when the jar of crushed garlic runs out try the juices. Just some tips. Shore fishing made easier. dont be afraid to try a new bait. First read everything here about how to use it. Then remember the different presentations. Go out and practice with it. The bass will let you know when you get it right. if you don't read the how to's on using baits here on this sight and you say I don't catch any fish, before you go fishing stay home. Stay positive, motivated and focused when fishing, get into the zone.

I laughed when I seen my co worker set his drag using the bumper on his car so he gets a exact feeling with the rod setup too. To me thinking about it after he is right. He knows exactly we're it's set. I set mine inbetween loose and tight. The bass can pull but I know when it's a bigger bass. There's a medium drag setting as to where I can do a hard hook set and my drag won't give. Yet if she pulls line she can go. It's a balance between the two settings.

I have enough baits in my tackle room my sons and grandchildren will use them in their lifetime. But something new or a different new color will grab me. I go fishing for some new or different sizes too.

If the noise it loud or vibrates the line if it's bad enough the vibrations/ noise can actually go down the line like a guitar string being plucked. Grease your reels I do every winter they get cleaned. But if they need new line during the season I clean and grease them too. i was using a cheap spinning reel I used for trout when I first started bass fishing seriously. She clanked away. I'm fishing a pond deep in the woods that was gin clear. I'm on a rock that's 4' above the water. I can see my line where it enters the water. I had a big bluegill turned on an angle listening to my line were it entered the water. I purchased new reels right away do to this reel was very worn out. The bass killed it.

I landed a 10lber on 8lb test Excalibur silverthread coploymere line. But I lost a bigger bass when she hit like a PT boat and took my bait down in the thicker weeds. My rod setup was way too light for this bigger bass. I set the hook and tried to get her head up on a very long cast. She had the strong will of her own. I seen her come above the surface headed to my bait before she hit like a gator, I knew I casted too far. My point is the heavier line test the better if your frogging in the weeds. i needed a tow truck on that day lol but a inshore light saltwater tackle setup would of landed my new state record.

After a successful fishing trip that's been more than average after I get home I order different baits?

From shore, across rocky points, up rocky points I toss a football head 3/8oz in green pumpkin with a uncle josh pork green trailer. I walk it or hop it up points slowly. One side of the point is running current I slowly go across the point. I do find the bass deeper on top of the points too. As well as the slow side. I'm fishing 9' in the deepest area. I think the 3/8oz is perfect for the rate of fall on the hop for 9' deep. To me the weight adjusts the rate of fall for the depth.

Rapala orginal floater in blue, f7 size. I call it the blue max. manns baby 1 in browncraw. I call it the Hank Parker Special because I seen him in NH nailing smallies on it. I found out LM like it too. get a manns classic 1/4 oz white spinnerbait with twin gold Indiana blades. I add a mister twister white 4" split double tail grub trailer with a trailer hook. These come with a blue glimmer skirt. It's the best for me. i do the same setup with the manns classic 1/4 oz chartreuse spinnerbait but I change the skirt to the hot chartreuse, and add the MT 4" split double tail chartreuse trailer grub. W/ trailer hook. note, to self, I have blue glimmer skirts and hot chartreuse skirts in the tackle room. There not easy to find. www.brannansbass.com carries them.

I use a slow, steady retrieve with topwater propbaits. Now with the mister twister top props I can use a steady retrieve or a 1-2-3 rip n pause. Try to make each rip exactly even. Use the exact pause time wise too. The bass will time his strike to your timing. Much like a kitten does. Nothing like the topwater action. With spooks, poppers I hesitate on the hookset. Make sure the fish has it. Sometimes they will slap it silly first thinking thinking they hurt the bait then turn faster than a PT boat and inhale it. So don't move the bait too soon thinking it's a strike and a miss. Let the bait soak for a few seconds more. Trust me it works. I've seen the biggest bass try to fool me this way.

That's all I own in cars is subarus. I have a 99 Wrangler but that's another story. at 100k it's just broken in. Make sure the timing belt and head gaskets were changed then it's a good buy.

I've owned subarus since 1997. Great cars, awesome quality. Good in snow too. The gas mileage is good too. Just bought a new one in 2016. My 2010 legacy has 100k on it now. It's the dog car or dog mobile to take him to the vet and for walks at the park. In 2020 it gets traded in. My plan with cars cars works great. I buy a new car, example in 2010. I pay it off in five years, 2015. I drive it with no car payments another five years, 2020. When it's ten years old in 2020 before the repairs start I trade it in for a new car. i stagger my two car payments by five years. I'll always have one car payment but never a repair bill. After a car is ten years old were throwing money down a well. Example we waited with my 99 Jeep Wrangler instead of trading it in when it was ten years old in 2009. First the brake lines rotted, now the frame is rotted. I lose. I was going to plow snow with it, I purchased all the hd options. Now I need to fix the frame. It should of been long gone.

I picked up a cz85db in 9mm. It's a amberdexterious cz75. I wanted it for my left hand, I'm right handed but I'm amberdexterious too from working under the dashboards at the dealership. I wanted a handgun that my left hand could operate. The cz's have a double action first shot feature too.

I'm at this point right now. I seen my local 400lb black bear I named yogie three times now on my land. My land abuts the water shed property. The other morning at 7am my yellow lab was bouncing off the furniture barking reall bad. I never seen him so upset. I got up intime to see yogie leaving my bird feeder and going across my driveway into my neighbors yard to get to my other neighbors fruit trees. He's a big bruin. i seen him at my bird feeder at 10am too. Another time it was at 6:30 pm. My dog went after him. The wife went after the dog and got about 25' from the bear when she grabbed the dog. She was screaming at the dog the whole time. The bear stood there thinking who's this crazy lady? well I'm thinking it's time to breakout the old shoulder holster to carry a 6" barreled magnum again when I'm outside. He seems afraid of me s far. At the 10am sighting I was 20 feet from him in the car, I opened the door up and he started to stand up to go up a tree. I closed the door figuring he could out run me since I use a walker now. My walker is the sport model with four wheels. Ok I have my ccw license. I figure a 357mg should be enough but I have a 41 & 44 mag too. I really don't want to shoot him. I live with bears at my camp in vt. Just have to beaware when there around. Staying alert and watching my cats and dog reading their body english can save your life. The cats crouch low to the ground and there heads and ears are going 360 degrees looking and listening. The dog growls, barks so that's him warning us. I put up a trail cam too. I got pics of the bear and found out the coyotes and foxes go through my land every 30 to 45 minutes every night. One awesome thing that happened I heard a barn owl as I laid in bed one night, he says "who cooks for you" it's neat to have wild animals. We have deer and a gaggle of turkeys here too. Suggestion, upsize your baits. I notice the larger bass won't strike what the smaller bass are hitting. When I throw larger baits the larger bass get more interested. IDK why this works but it does.

On my spinnerbaits I only use a mister twister 4" split double tail plastic grub trailer with a trailer hook. I'm a firm believer in the Mann's classic spinnerbaits in white I use the blue glimmer skirt(they come with) I add the MT split double tail white trailer. With the Mann's chartreuse classic spinnerbaits I change the skirt to hot chartreuse and add the MT chartreuse 4" split double tail trailer. I do trim the 4" trailer to fit the smaller spinnerbaits. Red or orange colors does attract bass more. Orange colored bottoms on crankbaits do catch more bass. I notice orange spooks are hot too. A green shad worm.

When I change hooks on the Mann's crank I go up one size on the rear hook. I did put a red hook on the rear.

I think of it this way were a baseball pitcher with a arsenal of baits. I throw a variety of baits and presentations till the bass let me know what they want. Topwater, shallow crankbaits, minnowbaits (rapala), spinnerbaits, c-rig senko/creature baits, split shot rigged worm, inline spinners, spoonfuls, etc till I get action. Change colors, change your speed don't fish too fast. Get in the zone, focus on your presentations. When you get the presentations right the fish will let you know. Using a bass scent too. Wash your hands before going fishing. Do not handle gasoline nor the gas pump before going fishing. I fish from shore. I have the droppoff's with man-made dams and roads. In the early dawn I use Topwater, shallow crankbaits, as it gets lighter I spinnerbaits, jigs, as the sun is up the bass start to move to deeper cover I go to c-rigged plastics. I try to follow them as they move. Don't be afraid to switch up baits. There are no rules. Switch colors. Chartreuse can be your friend. When in doubt try chartreuse.
