Mann's classic 1/4oz Colorado gold blades, chartruese skirt, Mister twister chartruese 4" split double tail grub trailer. Trailer hook. Presentations are the key to success with any lure. You have gin clear water so a fast presentation maybe the key. Don't forget a scent I have a camp in Rochester,Vt. God's heaven. Love it.
  2. Jig Master B Modern twist to it.
  3. I buy mostly online. Can't walk too far. I look for clearances, specials, discounts on new and older outdated new baits. Plus buy at regular prices new stuff too if I like it. I also go to the lure manufacturer if I can't find the lure, size or color. Siebert Outdoors my jig go to guy. I purchased a OKUMA spinning reel from one of our sponcers I can't remember who.
  4. Good hunting areas are hard to find. I been hunting in vt since '73. Lost the place to stay at in '84. Purchased 7 1/4 acres that borders on two sides by the national forest in '86 for $10k. It's up in the mountains. I gave up buying a new truck and bought land instead. Best thing I ever did. Bear and deer and moose hunting besides trout fishing in the white river.
  5. We feed the deer molasses coated corn feed all winter. The herd is camped out here all winter. With three feet of snow cover they have no food. The does that are here now we're the fawns we fed years ago. There's a 16PT 275/300lb buck with them in the fall chasing them. Let him live and spread his genes.
  6. Just getting out there makes me feel alive again. There telling my testosterone is very low, no energy for now. But in time it all will comeback. God bless, hope everyone with bows pokes a big deer.
  7. There's a guy on eBay in vt who ties the best bumblebee flys I have ever seen looks and quality. He has other flies too.
  8. Well at a unfished place deep in the woods that's very quiet strange noises can be heard that's not natural to there environment. I made a long cast with a spinner I noticed a sunfish at the point were my line entered the water. He's sideways like he's listening at my point of entry of my line. This tells me he's hearing my worn out reel.I don't think I'm over thinking it but wanting to be stealthy and quiet in the dark everything matters noise wise.
  9. Guys/gals, Fish the swamps, smaller swamps too.
  10. I can afford a boat but I'm alone, can't handle it. Plus I have more mobility from shore I can gun n run from pond to pond without moving a boat.
  11. Distance is the key. I take a 5/8oz topwater bait, spray it with scent and throw it as fas as I can. The only thing is if we go in the submerged weeds at that distance we lose the bigger ones when they dive. Been there.
  12. Anyone fishing at 4am till around 9am? The larger bass are close to shore at this time. The eels are inches from the shoreline too. Don't fan cast your casts close to each other. Skip fan cast, jump your casts around not next to each other. Cloudy overcast days. Chartruese inline spinners, spinnerbaits, cranks.
  13. Moly will quiet them. Just a little will do. It may feel a tad tighter but after some spinning it will freely up. Moly Eliminates all wear Reduces friction. Prevents galling. Oil your bearings Moly the teeth on your gears Don't get any moly on your friction drag plates. Silence is golden. When I'm fishing new unfished places anything is to my advantage. Total stealth is the key. Area 51 bass fishing. That sunfish listening to were my line entered the water wasn't listening to Elvis. My old worn out reel had bad gear noise. He listened to gear slamming trucker grinding music. Even the fish can teach us. I was fishing off a ledge high above the water I can see all the action. Number one fishing tool polarized sun glasses.
  14. This is more info than I want to know. I have manns jelly worms somewhere. There dragun flies too they work great
  15. Solar charger?
  16. I use a c-rig with a wacky setup. 1/8oz in open water.
  17. I use the better quality ball bearing locking snap swivels. My pb10lbs was caught on them with 8lb Excalibur silver thread line. The large car tire turtles can't open my snap swivels. We get more side to side movement with the snap swivels too it's a much smoother movement. Plus I can't see the line in the dark
  18. Gear noise can go down the line into the water like a gutiar string. I'm very worried about making more noise when in stealthy. Shore fishing isn't easy.
  19. Great buys. It's buys like yours that keeps me fishing.
  20. Thank you for the tip on gluing the lurker hunt frogs nose. I put some glue were the hooks come out of the body too. I gave one to my grandson for his birthday I need to glue it too.
  21. I feel if you can afford the boat, truck or car you can afford the gas. I don't drink or gamble or smoke. I'm a tackle hoarder.
  22. Selling the directions you have to catch it.
  23. Do you use a scent? If he's not using plastics I would. Worm, brushogs, grub. etc. Try jigging a jointed countdown rapala straight down. Let it hit the bottom, reel it up a tad and twitch it. Get into the zone don't talk. Focus
  24. I haven't talked with our brother Fish Chris in years. Hope he's ok. Good fisherman. Great guy. The "20" sized spool for 6lb test to 8lb test. The distance on the spinning reel is still good. The "30" sized spool I use 8lb, 10lb, 12lb. With some 30 sized reels they have a slightly larger spool. On this it's 14lb and 17lb on my heavier baits. I also have "40" sized reels too. The 6lb is for the light, small lures. I have inshore salt water tackle. The line test does effect the action of the lure and how deep it will run. The lighter the line the deeper it runs and we get free action too.
  25. I lube it with moly. The gear teeth. I like my reels quiet.
