Cool beans 8-) I'm guessing that before long, you'll have a whole arsenal of baitcasters. Stay after it, because as you go, your gonna find that there is different set ups out there more specific to the different types of fishing you will do.

Might sound like a silly question, but to those who don't like the fanfare of the rattles, do you think it affects your bite when your fishing partner is throwing something on the order of a clackin rap? In otherwords, do you think it spooks the fish when you are throwing soft plactics or maybe a another crank w/o rattles?

This is a great thread, I'm glad it resurfaced. From what I've seen recently, a good attractant would up the ante.

Yeah, I also got a great intro to the Rage Tail line, loaded up on them, got some great instruction, and now I'm gonna spend the summer workin' them do death. That was a great group down there and they sent me home feeling like I actually knew something. 8-)

Hate to say this, but it was almost exciting the last few holes. When Woods and Mickelson made there "almost" combacks things got interesting. When they started sliding I was rooting for Perry. Between him, Chapman, and Cabrera they sure kept things tight.

Never really fished jigs until the road trip. Got introduced to the Eakin's jigs, WOW! Fished the 5/16 Missouri craw w/Chompers 4" skirted grubs. I fished the Eakins almmost the whole trip and can't wait to get going on my home lake with them. BTW, I like your set up, but did you notice the handle is on the wrong side of the reel?

And I thank you for it. I am back in Wisconsin now and in the middle of ice out, so I'll be able to give it a go shortly.
