  1. I like there format as well.
  2. Tackletour has some good interviews with American Rodsmiths president and some other articles. My friend got back to me and the @$$ didn't use the rods. Apparently he was runing late this morning and didn't have time to switch his reels over. Like I said before though, these are some of the finest put together rods I've seen so far as a angler. Every little test I've done for sensitivity has resulted in tons of vibrations being resonated down the rod. The fuji guides they used on mine are amazing IMHO, and the craftsmanship of the rod looks great. For me I only wish it was split grip and possibly weighed less. With that said the carrot stix weight can spoil you something fierce on the weight issue. However the build quality of the carrots just aren't holding up for the long haul so I won't be buying any more of them. The American Rodsmiths rod on the other hand I can tell is going to last me for years.
  3. I just got a couple Team series and haven't had the chance to get them on the water yet. What I can tell you just by holding it is they are EXTREMELY well made. I don't have the new grip but the cork on mine is top of the line and the guides are fantastic. I've did some in house sensitivity tests and it appears to be very sensitive as well. It's not close to my Carrot Stix in weight but it isn't heavy either. I put a Curado 200E on it and it balances just above the foregrip. I've got a friend out on the water testing a couple out as we speak and can't wait to hear back from him later today.
  4. Well our club had a tourney today on Super Bowl Sunday on a power plant lake. I can tell ya it was VERY hard to fish early in the morning. My guides kept freezing shut and my curado didn't like the freezing water either. My partner was a guy who I've become friends with in the club and is a good angler. We took his Ranger but we weren't able to beat another guy in our club to our first spot. Well that guy sat on that spot and protected it all day. We ran all over and tried every thing you can think of. Then finally with about a hour to go we fished a ridge the drop off on both sides and had some timber. We started to finally get some bites and we landed three keepers. We kicker ourselves we hadn't hit it earlier and stayed on it. Well our three fish was good enough for fourth in our club. Under the conditions I consider it a job well done. Heck half our club didn't even way in a fish. The guy who won was the one who sat on the spot were we heading to. It sucks but I would have done the same thing.
  5. I can vouch for procrafter being a great roommate. He loved fishing, only snoores a little, and like any good fisherman 15 fish =30, and a 2lber is a 4lber! I can't wait to see ya again Procrafter!
  6. My local bass club had it's annual banquet tonight. We always have a auction of stuff we bring in. It's fun and it helps cover costs for the dinner (PRIME RIB!!). I sat next to a guy I've grown to be pretty good friends with in the club. The story starts with the fact he loves the older Curado's. So of course a rod and reel combo come up with a older Curado and a Team Diawa Light and tough, 6'3MH Rod. He leans over and tells me " Hell I'm going to bid just for the real. I don't want the rod". I perked up because my Dad and I like these rods. I've also been looking for a good short stiff rod. So I leaned over and told him I'd throw in 10 for the rod. He was game and the bidding started. It took off fast and got pretty high compared to the other things sold. So I leaned over and told him I'd go 15$ for the rod. It ended up going to him for 85$. So he got his hard to find real he likes and I got a sweet rod for only 15$!! I think it was the second highest item that was auctioned off. The only thing that beat it was a Loomis 6'6 MH IMX that went for 100$ and that rod was a steal too.
  7. Personally I'm a anti paypal guy after having some issues with them. I know I'd love a good alternative. For some reason I keep thinking Amazon might.
  8. Congrats!!
  9. I wanted to mention any numbers I posted are national numbers and not my specific hosptial. I also wanted to point out I'm not going to be going up to ladies and saying "I'm Rick James ******" in a Dave Chappel voice. I merely meant it will be nice to be in a environment with possibilities of finding a girl who doesn't mind a guy who smells like JJ's magic! ;D My department has a very diverse background so I also look forward to working with them.
  10. Actually we went over it today and it's HIPAA. So it's two "A"s and only one "P"s. The presenter said it's a pet peeve of hers that everybody uses two "P"s instead of two "A"s. We had another long day going over this stuff today. This stuff is strict man! An example of how strict it is you see your mother in law come in to the Hospital to be seen for X reason but don't talk to her or maybe you come by this info from a schedule of patients. Then if you were to tell any other family members she's in the hospital for X reason or even just in the hospital it's a HIPAA violation. You have to get verbal clearance for you to give out that info. There are tons of rules and regulation. We also got some crazy numbers. Like Nurses only wash there hands or use the special quick soap 50% of the time when going from room to room to see patients. So the person next door to you could have Merca (I'm not sure if that's how it's spelled) and you got a 50/50 shot that the Nurse has washed there hands. The number is even worse for doctors at 30%! So our hospital has a HUGE campaign going to encourage proper hand washing. All in all non of this is a big deal to me. I mean that in terms of none of it upsets me to do or anything. It's just part of the job and I get that. It's a great place to work. Tons of nice people and a crap ton of good looking nurses. I plan to join the gym in the hospital loose some pounds. Then find a hot nurse who doesn't file a harassment claim! BTW my first reel day of work in my actual job is tomorrow on my 28th birthday!
  11. Now you got me into jigs on a single day in 09. Now are you and Jimzee going to save me a day with you all so you can teach me SM fishing? I promise not to take to many video's this time!
  12. Well I had my first day of work and my job today. We have two days of orientation and man hospitals have a crap ton of guidelines. For good reason of course. We watched at least 10 video's and one going over a moron with some lame pick up lines. My personal favroit of his was him saying to "hot lady"in office setting "Just pretend were in the girls locker room. Talk dirty to me!". He then was shocked he had a sexual harassment complaint against him. Another was the video's on falls, and electrocution. Why it was funny was the acting was HORRIBLE. Mainly it was the old lady in every video falling again and again and the video plastering real big "WRONG WAY". It would then show you the "correct way" and sometimes it made no sense as why it would prevent a fall. One example given was the old lady asked the over weight guy if they could stop the wheelchair at the rest room. He sighs with in a "Oh **** this sucks" manner and says "Ya sure, I guess". He lets her out and opens the door for her and tells he just to ask if she needs help. Then a couple hootie nurses stop by a few yards away. So of course he goes over and works his charms on the ladies and then you hear BAM BOOM KABOOM. They all run over all concerned and again your see "Wrong Way". They then show the correct way and he stays outside the door and doesn't go to speak with the ladies. He knocks and asks if she's ok and this time answers "oh yes". I almost LOL thinking WT*! Seriously I understand why it's the correct way, but he didn't do anything in the correct way that changed the circumstance for her not to fall. I'd certainly agree the knock to check on her could have prevented one if she asked for help but she didn't she was fine. Why wasn't she fine in the first scene. It's totally stupid that I even notice this, but after 8 hours of it it's fun to blow off steam. I also got a say I feel like a Ginny pig. I've been pocked and prodded and made to pee in a cup more times then I can count. Next up is a series of Hep B vaccine shots, and H1N1 vaccine YEAH!! Also just to let you guys know every hospital at least our hospital makes sure your personal info is safe. We went over all the HIPPO laws and were told it's even illegal for for us to look up our own stuff. I also had to LOL at our HR rep. She couldn't get a VCR or TV to work, but man she knew the ins and outs of the time cards. Seriously she was like John Wayne with a six shooter. I had to laugh when she went over replacement costs for time cards. Apparently a large amount of the Nurses are using them as ice scrappers and damaging them. ;D Long story short one day closer to getting a new boat and we know that's all that counts!!
  13. so you think a bass will bite a hollow body like the spro in semi open water? i only have luck hoppin it along that scum stuff sittin on top of the water so they cant get such a good look at it. Oh no they will absolutely destroy a Spro Frog in open water when your walking it. IMHO it's all in the walk. It's like KVD and the way he walks about "triggering" a strike. I feel I'm able to do that with different style's of walks I use. Granted this isn't my first bait of choice to use in a open water setting, but if I've been using it and I round a point that's fairly open I have plenty of confidence in the frog to continue working it. That is as long as the conditions are right for it. For instance you don't want to be throwing the frog on a windy day on a windy point. For the most part the spro style frog is a visual lure that isn't very intrusive. This usually means bigger fish, but uneffective under conditions that would prevent the spro frog to be noticed. Open water isn't one of those conditions. However you may find a spro frog in Pearl to be more effective in open water because it resembles a shad more rather then a frog. In open water bass will key on shad more then they would a frog. Around vegetation I like using local frog colors and colors that look like a sunfish or bluegill. Now on the subject of buzz frogs. I prefer them over a buzz baits because they are more weedless. I also feel they say on top of the water better. You can also let it drop after a weed line or after a missed strike making it look stunned or injured. They are also fantastic for covering water early in the morning and concentrating on the edges of grass or pads. Then later in the day when the sun comes out and the fish move back into the thick stuff I switch to a Spro Frog and pick apart the cover.
  14. Where ya at Back2fishing? I know allot of guys try to hitch rides together and you don't have to bring your boat. Last year Mike did a great job making sure we all had a ride.
  15. Probably not, they JUST came out and his website said these are a early first run. The guides are so small because they are micro guides. BTW did they tell you anything more about the rod?
  16. Are you asking do we like Buzz frogs (solid) or the Spro Rajas Frog (hallow)? I'm assuming you are and honestly they are two very different baits. I like the Rage Toad (A buzz style frog) in more open water and when I want to cover ground. It's also better on stained to muddy water. The spro style frog is great for taking your time and seducing that big fish to bite. It's also great on clear water because it doesn't spook fish and the walking action will call fish from far away. I could go on but it's late so I'm going to bed. Maybe I'll post more tomorrow or rather later today. ;D
  17. I like the under rater, under talked about Luhr Jensen Hot Lips. I think there is a reason it's not talked about from the pro's. I've seen bass tourneys and the pro or host will say he's throwing a DD22 and then I get a look at the bait on his rod and it's a Hot Lips.
  18. You probably already are but in case your not USE BRAID!!!
  19. Na all the LM got wise and took I-57 south to Sothern IL.
  20. That picture was taken in Texas, I've seen it posted on other websites claiming it was taken in Ky, West TN, Ala, and MO. There is a link that says it really is from Texas, but I can't find it, but here's another link. Just scroll down. http://www.prairiestateoutdoors.com/index.php?/scattershooting/C483/ Thanks for the link it's a neat read.
  21. I guess I better cancel the lady friends I had scheduled for us then. I figured they would keep us warm at night and also be able to check and make sure your battery is getting a CHARGE.
  22. Pickwick with all my boys at BR! Serouisly I'm not kidding I've never landed a SM and I'm dieing to get into some!! Right now that's my number one goal for fishing. After that it would be to go some place to catch some 10 pounders. It would probably be Amistad with a guide but the same goes for El Salto.
  23. I kind of agree with bassman here on the tackle part. With that said I don't know what type of combos you have. You seem content with them and so I find it hard to also reccomend buying rod and reels. I guess I would recommend you do two things. I think it is important to find a sensitive rob for worm and jig fishing. It doesn't have to be a 200$+ rod or anything. The 100-200 rods offer fantastic performance. I know the Powel get great reviews for there price and so do falcons usually. Both have models in the sub 150 price. However I would recommend you check out our flea market for gear. Tons of great deals on rods and reels, plus a fair amount of "tackle lots" cheap. The quality is usually fantastic! The one thing to make sure you don't do is buy something like a 20$-30$ swimbait or something. Not saying they don't have there place but right now if you buy some lures buy a variety of lures to find out what works for you. I live in Southern IL and here is what I would buy on a budget for my neads. Lures Rage Toads A black and white Buzz Bait Assortment of jigs Black and Blue, and green pumpkin is all you need. Rage Craws for trailers and tex rigs Alurringbaits trick sticks Strike King Red eye rattle trap Wiggle warts(these are killer in early spring) Rapala DT (Dives To) pick a couple depths you usally fish. Spinnerbaits- get several in all three blade syles. White and Chartreuse are great colors. A Popr syle bait or two. Personally I like Storm Chuggers Line Power Pro briad if you fish grass and pads 40 or 50lb. You could also buy some Fluro if you jig and worm allot. I use it exclusively for flipping and pitching. Only problem is quality fluro usually runs about 20$ a spool for 200 yards. Exceptions are XPS fluro and Cabelas Fluro. Now if you decide you want a new quality reel for a good price it's hard to be a Shimano Citica 200E. I also hear the Revo S isn't bad. Keep an eye on the flea maket you can usually pick one up sub 100$.
  24. I have several. I set mine up so all my family and friends have there own ring tone so I know who is calling just by the sound. My dad is Sinatra, My Sister is the Yeah Yeah Yeads, ect.
