Well here in Southern IL we have the possible Cougars. This used to be part of there territory a long time ago but there suppose to be gone. With that said we have had a ton of sightings. Even the local news crew filmed what looked like a cougar crossing a country road. Then I got this picture sent to me from a friend at a bass club meeting. It's supposedly take just a few miles away from where I live on one of those automatic cameras. BTW this was during dear season.

The only time I came close to flipping a boat was last year. I was driving along with the window partly down after a good day fishing with a friend. Then all of a sudden I hear a bug hit the side of the door frame. I hear a buzz buzz and see a GIANT HORNET!! I'm pretty scared of hornets or yellow jackets, and wasps because when I was 7 or so I stepped on a nest. I ended up being stung over a dozen times and if it wasn't for my late grandmother scooping me up who knows what might have happened. Anyways the giant hornet landed right on a very special place. The dang thing had its stinger out going nuts. So of course I pay attention to the thing trying to sting my own stinger instead of the road. The next thing I know my buddy is screaming and we're heading into the ditch on a turn. I swerved harder then I would have if I wasn't so panicked. I looked in the mirror as I swerved and I was luck the boat didn't tip over. I then stopped in the middle of the road and ran around like a little girl when they see a mouse.

Simplejoe like everybody else I'm sorry to hear your having to go threw this. As a kid growing up we had two house fires where I lost just about everything. I'm still not over loosing my Upper Deck King Griffy Jr rookie card. I hope in some small way the generosity on this board helps renew your belief in humanity, because I'm sure you feel violated at the moment. Try not to let it get you down and start planning your purchases out. Remember there are a ton of great deals on the flea market!

Actually I'd use low vis green in clear water that has a green tint. BTW on using mono with frogs I hope you mean buzz frogs and not hollowed belly ones. You REALLLY need braid for hollowed belly ones. While on buzz frogs you could get by with mono.

Well I wish I could smack you all with some great knowledge here but I really can't. I fish a jig 90% of the time over a texas rig and the only time I use a standard hook that often is when using a Rage Toad. With those I like the Owner twist locks. There strong, sharp, and I loose less frogs. The only tip I can give is I saw Tim Scroggins on Classic Patterns the other day fishing a worm. He stated he believed strait shanks offer better hook ups. He then showed what he did to keep the worm pegged. He just took a standard tooth pick and instered it into the eye of the hook threw the worm. He then just used a pair of clippers to trim the tooth pick. The worm looked as solid as can be on there.

LOL! Even though TW offers the free shipping, I always spend the extra $5 to get it in 2 days...takes over a week otherwise to the goodies here to CT I've started doing that myself. Sometimes even if the extra time doesn't matter. I just want it sooner to play with! ;D

I agree skip the electric razor. I tried several and it was always a bad shave. This is probably something you will have to find out for yourself like every man does though. I'd buy a decent razor from Gillette (I'm a mach three fan) and spend some of the money you would on a electric razor, on a good trimmer. These are great for neck hair, side burns, and around the ear. Also hide your Razors from your mother and sisters. I don't know how many times while growing up I went to shave and it felt like sand paper against my face. Maybe a butter knife trying to cut a stake is a better analogy? I think all men know what's happened. A female got a hold of your razor and used it on her legs and didn't think you would notice!

Well you can't go over your line strength recommendation for your rod or you risk breaking it. Some go over the rod strength recommendation but they set there drag loose so the rod doesn't brake. The bigger the bass the bigger the rod you would need to "pull" a fish out of heavy cover.

I'm basically in the same situation. I have some tackle shops but they don't have the rods I'm looking at most of the time. I go threw TW for all my rods most of the time. Then again I go threw TW for just about everything.

Ahh yes, us Union State members like to remind the rebels who's boss. So once in a while we make them send us Academy H20 lures. Now if we can just make the owner of Academy sell online or build stores in non rebel territory.

Many times I think it's a territorial strike and not a feeding strike. I think many time it's simply intending to bite the tail and tell it to get out of here.

Actually that color would imitate a bluegill really well for me.

I just prefer watching the NFL on the big screen in HDTV. A few years back I was lucky enough to go to the NFC championship game the Bears won. While it was a great time I can't see paying the ticket prices they charge for games when it's so great on TV.

I had a black lab that loved the water. I'm talking below freezing ice conditions and she would still jump in if I didn't stop her. She also loved the boat, but oh she would freak out when she had to potty. There is no doubt in my mind if you want a hunting and fishing buddy for all conditions hot or cold then a lab is the perfect dog. I now have dachshund AKA wiener dog and I love him more then anything. The only problem is he is very short furred and gets cold. It doesn't seem to stop him in early spring though out in the ponds. He chases our lures, upset that we don't have a new fish for him to play with every time (some of the pounds need thinning out). He gets himself socked but won't swim for the most part and he ends up shacking like he's on PCP or something. He chases everything from birds to snakes. I love the little guy but he's more of a handful outside then a lab.

I when he got stung by that bee on the eye. He acted like how this was a great idea to get honey. While he's eating it, he's all "one bee sting small price to pay for honey". Then two seconds later his face looks like Mike Tyson got a hold of him. I think they had to give him medicine or evacuate him on that one.

I lived South of there in Tuscaloosa for a year when I was 18. I wish I was into fishing more back then with all that great water near by. I ended up being homesick to much to enjoy my time there all that much. I think if I were to move one day it would probably be to the South Tenn or North Al region. When I was in Paris Tenn this past summer for a Fishing trip I was shocked at how completely RURAL it was. I mean I live very rural in a town of 5,000 people with the biggest town within 75 miles is 30-40,000 people. Yet it was a metropolis compared to that area. It was like fast food was out lawed and only mom and pop shops were allowed. ;D So I do need some civilization around.
