  1. @They call me “Gaiter Salad” I went out on the Tract for a short trip yesterday. Just wanted to use my 2020 license one last time. Water was 49 degrees, clear to stained depending on the location. Only boats out were duck hunters or guys fishing. Really large rafts of mud hens as well making running on pad rather sporty at times. Launching a yak at Sugar Barge is a good option as you can cut through the opening across from the ramp to access the tract. And as @camman recommended, Disco is a pretty good option Water was like glass over a Quimby Island but here it is also January and the hills are still brown....
  2. I remember first fish I ever caught was when I was about 3 years old, in the Philippines from a little creek on a cane pole. My first bass was a couple years later from a pond outside of Cherry Point, North Carolina on a cane pole, bobber, and a hook baited with a worm from a coffee can full of freshly dug up worms....
  3. Hahaha, I’m trying. It’s the fish changing their mind which one they want from day to day, if not every couple of hours ?
  4. @They call me “Gaiter Salad”, I use 15lb Power Pro on my dropshot rod. Yep it’s old, well used line but the fish don’t seem to care. I even go with 15lb on the spinning rod I dropshot with cause I can put more line on the spool. As for chatterbaits and swimbaits you might want to go with 30-40lb braid...
  5. Ahhhh, the monkey is a devil. It’s not like I needed more baits, but they just keep showing up. And then there was a sign confirming it...
  6. I’m going say Hank Parker, KVD a prodigy who’s career path a lot of us have witnessed and admired. And Jordan Lee, who is a exceptionally talented angler who’s career may eclipse that of KVD...
  7. You been out to Cali and fishing the Delta without telling anyone Kent? I’m currently in SIP #44 so I was kinda hedging my bet. Not to mention @TcRoc nailed it as those items were in my TW supply line ?
  8. I’ve been getting this same response regarding my Fishmas shipment since Monday...
  9. Just got my Fishmas box from @TcRoca few minutes ago. Thanks Matt for hooking me up with some stuff I know will be put to use next spring. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays all!
  10. X2 on the Dungeness crab @bish0p! For those in Blue crab country, a Dungeness crab weighs about 2-3 pounds and it’s sweet, buttery meat. And I gotta say I’m looking forward to the commercial season opening up soon after another delay. And I didn’t even want to bring up razor clam chowder, oysters, or a big kettle of steamers...
  11. I’ve kinda gotten away from eating warm water species. Salmon, steelhead, and non farm raised trout, broiled, BBQ’d, baked after being wrapped in foil or smoked. I do miss going up to the Quinault in Washington this time of year steelhead fishing and then being able to give away smoked steelhead fillets as Christmas presents, sorry I drifted.... Ahi tuna broiled or pan seared, as sashimi or poke’, other tuna (Yellowfin, Albacore) broiled, pan seared or out of a can. And if it’s out of a can, with onions in the mix. Halibut, broiled or baked. Rockfish or lingcod fried as fish and chips. And with a barley pop...
  12. Granted it’s all about personal preferences regarding manufacturer or frame type. As for conditions, polarized blue or gray lenses for bright light conditions and green amber for low light conditions works best in my opinion. Between my Oakley’s with Revant lenses or my Costas 580g’s I think I’ve got things, especially on the water, covered ?
  13. I really appreciate this info @A-Jay, however it did illicit a Mr. Bill response ?. And now I’ve got Mr. Jones saying “buy some” lol... Guilty
  14. On da way! USPS said it should arrive at its destination early next week. We shall see, so like my ugly Christmas sweater says ....

  19. Hello @West Coast Angler from Northern California, just wanted to say welcome Peter to Bass Resource and the Forums!
  20. I use the Okuma “Reflections” series to chuck moving baits. @JT Henriksen regarding your original post, I’m kinda partial to the Powell as I own a few of the Max series rods. And if you can save a few bucks on a chuck and wind rod....hey, spend it on a more sensitive rod for bottom contact baits where in my humble opinion it really counts...
  21. Hahaha, as you can imagine they aren’t fond of being t-rigged and wacky riggin’ ‘em can get kinda crazy
  22. @NorthernBasser, if you haven’t already, try using the 3” rattlesnake on a shaky head ?
  23. I read where one guy made over $120k when Oregon/Washington started their pikeminnow program. I’ve caught them in the delta and a couple different lakes. A few times they’ve found there way into my garden as fertilizer ?
  24. @Jigfishn10, I might go with a 8-10oz ball sinker, a shrimpfly rig with the hooks tipped with squid strips attached to 65lb braid for fishing that shallow. A 2.5lb ball when you’re fishing those triple digit depths for rock fish and lings
