Latest Catch Pics Thread
I was able to get out yesterday on the tail end of a passing storm front. With a little early morning wind blown chop, I was able to get ‘em on topwater to start on a shallow flat. Picked up the bladed jig, two cranks of the handle and the rod tip stopped its rhythmic thump like I hooked a stump. The rod loads as I set the hook and what I now know is a heavy fish heeds to deep water. A couple of runs on both sides of the bow and I am able to welcome her aboard, a 6.79lber released to fight another day.

What Y'all Doing
In week #10 of Shelter In Place, the usual piddling around the house and yard work. Recorking, sanding, then sealing with U40 of pretty much every rod handle I own. The corresponding cleaning, lubing and upgrading of every reel with Carbontex drag washers and/or bearings. Planning for the long haul, topped off the boat with gas and dumped in some marine Sta-BIL for good measure. Polished/waxed the boat a couple times and pull minor maintenance on the vehicles. Try to keep the bait monkey at bay as I look forward to getting back out on the water..

Why is Fishing not listed as allowed?
I was kinda surprised that it wasn’t posted, however “crabbing” is fishing. No one has been stopped from fishing, unless the lakes or launch ramps are closed. And the places that are open just draw more people to use the facilities. Good luck and be well

Most Expensive Set Up
During our fishing lives we all buy IMHO at least one rod and/or reel that is the most monetarily that we can afford. This better equipment may or may not make you a better fisherman initially, but over time it becomes part of the overall puzzle as one becomes a better angler. As far as I’m concerned, having that one “sweet” setup makes my time on the water that much more enjoyable and makes me look forward to the next trip. Especially now...

Shelter in place Ribs
Not exactly shelter in place ribs, but some butterflied yardbird thighs were the latest to touch my grill. Marinated in a local Hawaiian style sauce and a barley pop from Golden Colorado was added to the mix to thin it out a hair...

Go to the movies
We’re currently enjoying one of our favorite Amazon Prime series, season 6 of “Bosch” after polishing off season 3 of “Ozark” on Netflix. After all, isn’t this why we bought those big TVs since we can’t go to the theater with the recliners or watch sports. As for the drive-in idea, which I kinda like, they reopened one after the initial SIP order. It lasted about 3 days before it was closed back up...

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Very true. I recently placed an order that GSO delivers in a couple of days. It took a week to arrive and I’m a few hours drive time north of San Luis Obispo. I think with the Covid-19 situation TW may have cut back operations a bit possibly to benefit their employees health. Even better news is TW is still open and shipping tackle to feed the monkey and to those lucky enough to go fish?

More tips please! Lol
Maybe next time using your live bait rig @Tanner., try using a senko rigged wacky style. A little ripple on the water surface will also impart some action to this version of the float-n-fly. With the weather getting warmer, fishing will get better as the fish start to transition.

- your first baitcasting reel
I still have it @BassSteve. Strapped to a 6’ rod, that little Bantam made me a roll casting, spinnerbait chuckin’ machine.- Knot for Braid Straight to Hook?
Snell knot or San Diego Jam knot are my go to choice. Thanks @ATA for the video on the improved San Diego Jam, looks like it’s worth switching to- Things to do at home...
Couldn’t agree with you @NYWayfarer more about the Curados, they are built like tanks. This was the first time I cracked them open since day one. The OG gears are much beefier compared to the newer models gears. Only maintenance I did all these years was wipe them down, oil the bearings and rub a little Carnuba wax on ‘em. By the way, Smelly Jelly glitter does have a tendency to get everywhere ?. I think these rod handles came out nice after the U-40 treatment. be well - your first baitcasting reel
