I finally was able to get out on the water this morning, which at times is something that I would take for granted. Leaving the dock, the water was a balmy 75 degrees and change, a barely noticeable breeze wasn’t affecting the surface and was in the middle of an outgoing tide. The topwater bite at first light was pretty good, I got on a plopper and buzz bait bite that produced some quality fish. I then picked up a crankbait rod and fired it out. Two handle turns, the rod loads and she starts digging for deep water. When I am able to end the battle and lip her into the boat I got to see she really wanted that particular bait. She weighed a healthy 5.4lbs, posed for pics and was released...

@DFWbassin, as others a mentioned your rod should arrive in something like this. I don’t think you have too much to worry about other than when you’ll be able to fish it.

Gonna say the reel is a Lew’s @flipflops, and pure speculation is that’s probably an 8’6” salmon/steelhead rod with micro guides. Sorry I can’t help with manufacturer. Hopefully some other BR members can point ya in the right direction. Good luck and good fishing to you and your friend

Hello @AlexB. from Northern California, welcome to Bass Resource and the Forums. I have never fished in Elsinore, but I’d be inclined to throw a 5” green pumpkin senko, a dropshot with a 6” MMIII Roboworm, and a Ned rig to start. Hopefully @WRB or some of the SoCal guys will see this thread and can provide better information. Good luck and good fishing.

@Jim Sutter I throw the larger size Pompadour when I throw it, so I can’t speak on the junior version. For me the Pompadour is a spot/location bait during low light conditions and not something for covering water which other topwater options are better suited. As @walleyecrazy recommended bone, I’ll throw bone or a black Pompadour on a slow, agonizing “crawl” seems to elicit some surprisingly violent strikes from bass looking for an easy meal. Good times and good fishing

The forerunner of the flippin’ switch?

Out on the water chasing green fish I like to bring either a few *Smuckers Uncrustables or a couple of fried egg sandwiches, beef jerky, dried mangoes and a Snickers bar. A cup of coffee or two to start the day, and water and diet soda to drink. Going out salmon or rock cod fishing in the salt, I’ll bring some hard boiled eggs, a couple of tuna & onion sandwiches, a couple of salami and cheese sandwiches, apples, water, diet sodas and a thermos of coffee. *IMHO a pretty good alternative to making pb&j sandwiches, they’re frozen and thaw out in the cooler ready to eat traveling between fishing spots

At the beginning of the pandemic, there was an uncertainty of how to balance commerce with keeping their employees safe, I believe Tackle Warehouse posted on their website “Keeping Our Community Safe” (still there w/updates BTW) how they were dealing with shipping out orders, which was about a week delay. I received an order I place at the beginning of SIP protocols in 8 days and figured hey nobody’s going to the hospital, it’s all good. Last order I placed with them took two days to get to my door, which is close to pre-pandemic shipping time. I would like to think everyone can expect the same shipping times from TW moving forward as well.
